What you instead see when moving units around is a view from a hundred or so meters above so as not to get surprised by flanking maneuvers. Of course, you can always zoom in to actually see what's going on in detail, but most melees look like messy blobs because it's Attila Total War.
It's amazing how they could logistically amass that many troops arm them, train them, pay them, engage in huge battles take massive amounts of losses and still have their cities protected well

This isn't a 2006 game. It does say it's medieval 2. But it's not. Its Atilla Total War. Which was 2015? I think. You buy Atilla and then download medieval Kingdoms 1212 Ad mod. That's what this is. And You can also get Rise of Mordor Or (Dawnless days) it's called now. Massive lord of the rings mod
Well its a bit less surprising when you look at how small of a player england was in europe in the middle ages. France was often regarded as the most powerful and richest kingdom in christiandom. The biggest issue that france had was their internal conflicts between families because of how descentralized they were, especially during the hundred years war. If it weren't to a regency and weak leadership by Henry VI, its entirely possible that England could've beaten and conquered France. After all, the Plantagenets actually had a very viable claim to the French throne.
