I have always loved Delfino Pier. I remember trying to get up to the roof when the drawbridge hadn’t come down yet, when I was 5. My favourite battle track.
#10: GBA Battle Course 3 (very boring and empty and way too big) #9: SNES Battle Course 4 (works well with 12 players and is fun to navigate) #8: GCN Cookie Land (pretty small and simple, but it works well and it's very charming) #7: Chain Chomp Roulette (the moving floor can get a bit annoying but the chain chomp serves as a cool obstacle and the big jump in the middle is cool) #6: Thwomp Desert (a bit overrated, but it has a cool Thwomp gimmick) #5: DS Twilight House (amazing atmosphere and a great layout. The music is embarrassingly unfitting and Honeybee Hive does the maze concept better, but it's still great. #4: N64 Skyscraper (what a shock that the Mario Kart 64 battle map ended up being the best retro map. It's got a great layout and a cool theme) #3: Delfino Pier (Love the Delfino Island theme and the rising and lowering water just adds so much to the map, with you even being able to explore a whole new area. #2: Block Plaza (What a shock that the battle map based on Block Fort made so high up. While not quite as good as it's predecessor, Block Plaza is still excellent with the statues and great layout) #1: Funky Stadium (I know, cliche pick here, but Funky Stadium is just too good to ignore. It's got a great theme and an excellent layout)
3:33 that's becouse it is. The tournament mode has a Pokey boss battle, wich is actually really good and uses the map to it's full potential. My guess is that they didn't had much time to create a 5th map so they just choose between Galaxy Arena or "Pokey's Desert" and then made some tweeks to make it unique (including changing the name) Edit: oh, btw here is my ranking • GBA BC3 (yes, mkw has 2 tracks with the acronym "bc3" and they're both from gba) • GCN Cookie Land • SNES BC4 • Thwomp Desert (it's this high becouse of the music, it's probably my favorite tune from mkw and I'm not joking) • N64 Skyscraper • Chain Chomp Rowheelette • Delfino Pier • DS Twilight House (ds nostalgia go brr) • Funky Stadium • Block Plaza
6:17 Oh my gosh, finally someone who agrees with me about Block Plaza! I never quite got the appeal for this battle stage. Honestly, I would like Nintendo to give this map the N64 Wario Stadium & Double Deck treatment and wait until there’s no other battle maps that are yet to be remade to bring this one back.
chain chomp wheel was always my favorite battle map because i loved chain chomp, but because of the name i didn't realize it was supposed to be a roulette wheel until like a few years ago when i put all the pieces together and my mind was blown. also surprised you didn't mention that the item boxes in the middle if you jump through the star ring always give you either a star or a mushroom, with a 90% chance of it being a star. just another really cool detail about it, but it's not overpowered since like you said it can be pretty tricky to actually get. favorite part of the map is probably using a star and following the chain chomp so it just keeps bouncing on me until the star runs out
Funky Stadium, Delfino Pier, and Block Plaza are the almighty 3. But why was Battle so damn limited? I mean it's restricted to Team and you can only use the Standard Kart and Bike. But great video!
Sad thing they didn’t bring back any Wii battle map in future games. This game truly deserves it! I hope Funky Stadium comes back in Mario Kart 9. It would be so good with antigravity. It would also be cool to see Delfino Pier come back, but I’m kinda afraid that Nintendo would ruin this one by incorporating underwater driving in it. I hope that when they bring Delfino Pier back, they find a way to adapt this mechanic to underwater driving.
I think Thwomp Desert might have been the real hot take in this video seeing how many comments are talking about how much they like it (me included, I'm a huge fan)
3:03 I strongly disagree, it has an upbeat yet tense tone that adds a touch of stress to the games on Thwomp Desert in general, especially when the final minute version kicks in.
A few hot takes here I don’t necessarily agree with but overall great video! My only major argument against your ranking is that Funky Stadium should be #1! As for your question of why Funky Kong is such a beloved character I believe the correct answer is all of the above! Funky Stadium being such an amazing course combined with Funky Kong’s excellent stats definitely helps but I believe the #1 reason Funky Kong is the best character is because he has such a cool design and personality!
Also i got theories cookie land takes place in the same world as sweet sweet canyon/kingdom and the ds battle stage that looks like cookie land(i can't remember it's name) and skyscrapper takes place in mushroom city
I don’t think Delfino Pier can be created today. It’s a track that floods with water as a main gimmock, which forces players to migrate to new areas for safety, or they’ll sink underwater. The downfall is that players can drive underwater in the more recent Mario Kart games, which would significantly nerf that track and make it feel less special.
i can’t believe you don’t like thwomp ruins song!! it’s easily one of my fav from the games and i’ve always considered it a hidden gem. but to each their own that’s why i watch your rankings haha
I remember playing battle mode with 3 people, and the person by themselves always won cause the cpus carried them. Ive never owned wii so ive never been that good at it
I’m genuinely surprised you put Thwomp Desert in last place. It’s personally an average course, but I wouldn’t consider it bad. None of Wii’s battle tracks are “bad” in my opinion, and the only battle courses I don’t care for are GBA Battle Course 3 & SNES Battle Course 4. (Then again they look so similar, so maybe that’s why?)
im ranking the battle modes right here right now in my opinion. 1 N64 2 8 deluxe 3 double dash 4 MKDS 5 MK 7 6 super mario kart 7 super circut 8 wii (my favorite mk game but the battle mode sucks due to the rules and not maps) 9 Base mk 8
Sorry Albert but Thowmp Deserts music sucking is probably your worst take imo It goes so hard it's probably my favourite battle course theme in general
Come on, there’s gotta be at least one time where you actually prefer the North American name of a track to the European one, right? Right? *coughs in Wario Shipyard because Galleon is kind of a weird-sounding word to me for some reason*
I have always loved Delfino Pier. I remember trying to get up to the roof when the drawbridge hadn’t come down yet, when I was 5. My favourite battle track.
thomp desert's music is completely incredible I love it
Smash player King of Skill used it in his Ganondorf montage. Fit well I must say.
💀
you have mental illness
It’s amazing I love the music
pus in bot
Thwomp deserts music is enough to carry it to 1st, it’s just better than funky stadium. Also how do you not like that, it’s amazing
You get it
Probably the worst music track out off all 10 battle stages.
MKWii battle mode is soooo nostalgic
Fr.

Oh, Thwomp Desert is overrated? I thought this map was hated by the MKWii fanbase.
As a kid, I loved the sounds the Wiimote made when I run into the walls in Cookie Land.
3:30 That had me bursting out laughing 😂😂😂
Wii’s Battle Mode is actually great, thanks to the peak courses.
3:33 that's becouse it is. The tournament mode has a Pokey boss battle, wich is actually really good and uses the map to it's full potential. 12:42 Funky Kong is the GOAT!
I personally liked the balloon battle best. And I was really good at it. The skyscraper level and funky stadium are my favorite stages in the game.
chain chomp wheel was always my favorite battle map because i loved chain chomp, but because of the name i didn't realize it was supposed to be a roulette wheel until like a few years ago when i put all the pieces together and my mind was blown. also surprised you didn't mention that the item boxes in the middle if you jump through the star ring always give you either a star or a mushroom, with a 90% chance of it being a star. just another really cool detail about it, but it's not overpowered since like you said it can be pretty tricky to actually get. favorite part of the map is probably using a star and following the chain chomp so it just keeps bouncing on me until the star runs out
Chain Chomp Roulette is also my favourite!

Honestly, we should have got the last man standing and when there are only 2 people left , the music will get a sped up version.
I love Funky Kong for the same reason as Schaffrillas.
Fun fact: In French, Twilight House is named "Maison de l’Aube" which literally means "Dawn House".
Sad thing they didn’t bring back any Wii battle map in future games. This game truly deserves it! I hope Funky Stadium comes back in Mario Kart 9. It would be so good with antigravity.

No way. Twilight house is the best battle course to me and always will be, we will not stand for twilight house slander
This is not an Albert Boris video without am edgy opinion. Nice vid.
Thwomp Desert got done dirty, fun gimmick and top tier music
Wow, what a late upload… 8PM!
Honestly, all 10 stages in Wii definitely hold up really well today!
I AGREE 100%
6:08 But I would still rather play Twilight House because I really don’t like MK7’s battle mode music ^^
@ Because otherwise, they’re pretty even
A few hot takes here I don’t necessarily agree with but overall great video! My only major argument against your ranking is that Funky Stadium should be #1!

Actually agree with your Twilight House take.
It is fun because how chaotic it is but i would rather play other stages than it.
Snes battle course 4 also has the best music for a SMK battle track imo
I love N64 Skyscraper as well!
I agree that Thwomp Desert is an unplayable abomination but I think its music is its own redeeming quality
Battle mode: whenever you destroy your younger sibling in races and they get mad.
Here within a minute 🎉
I love Delfina pier, but funky stadium is special. I have no idea why neither returned to mk8d
This game's battle mode is underrated! My least favourite is chain chomp roulette and my favourite is cookie land
We will never have a Battle course selection as Dynamic at this one
Very solid list!
Did you know that Block Plaza is a fusion of the layout of Block Fort and Black City
NOT THE THWOMP DESERT MUSIC SLANDER
Note in the tournament mode thwomp desert had a pokey boss fight
Also i got theories cookie land takes place in the same world as sweet sweet canyon/kingdom and the ds battle stage that looks like cookie land(i can't remember it's name) and skyscrapper takes place in mushroom city

The downfall is that players can drive underwater in the more recent Mario Kart games, which would significantly nerf that track and make it feel less special.
It may or may not still work, just most likely take away all it’s uniqueness.
i can’t believe you don’t like thwomp ruins song!! it’s easily one of my fav from the games and i’ve always considered it a hidden gem. but to each their own that’s why i watch your rankings haha
10:36 For once he didn’t call it Deep Moray Trench
For me, it's...
Funky Stadium
Delfino Pier
N64 Skyscraper
SNES Battle Course 4
Chain Chomp Roulette
Block Plaza
GBA Battle Course 3
DS Twilight House
GCN Cookie Land
Thwomp Desert
I still don't understand how lots of people's are still playing mario kart wii online even to this day
I only remember playing on thwomp Desert.
Watching funky stadium and delfino Pier, I remember them as well. They're definitely better than thwomp Desert.
It’s not called chain chomp roulette in America because it might promote gambling
Funky Stadium is kingly.
Predictions for your ranking:
GBA Battle Course 3
SNES Battle Course 4
GCN Cookie Land
Chain Chomp Wheel
N64 Skyscraper
Thwomp Desert
DS Twilight House
Block Plaza
Delfino Pier
Funky Stadium
Why did you say Piranha Plant Cove? Isn't it Deep Moray Trench?
twilight house in #8!?!? i feel betrayed
MKDS battle mode will forever be unmatched.
MK8D, Renegade Roundup and Shine Theif. Those are unmatched.
Even though mkds sucked very badly the only good thing about it was the battle mode.
@@YoshWilburRenegade Roundup was the BEST
Shine Runners is way better than Shine Theif imo, but I personally think Double Dash’s battle mode is unmatched
im ranking the battle modes right here right now in my opinion.
1 N64
2 8 deluxe
3 double dash
4 MKDS
5 MK 7
6 super mario kart
7 super circut
8 wii (my favorite mk game but the battle mode sucks due to the rules and not maps)
9 Base mk 8
Mario Kart Wii has the best battle mode, 10 tracks! Amazing customization!
Cool
Block Plaza is better than block fort. There I said it.
and pls keep doing the breaking bad universe references even though i’m probably in the minority of your audience that understands it
it's unfortunate thwomp desert has one of my favorite songs in the series because the stage really does suck ass. it's such a banger tho
Mario Kart Wii has a better selection than Mario Kart 8 with battle stages. Mario Kart 8 should’ve had 16 instead of 8.
What I think about Funky Kong is I HATE HIM.
Probably Albert’s ranking I disagree with most
Sorry Albert but Thowmp Deserts music sucking is probably your worst take imo
It goes so hard it's probably my favourite battle course theme in general
Cooky run too cramped, should be 2nd to last
Rest is fine
I cannot believe you put Thwomp Desert at last L take
Overhated battle mode
How dare you hate on canyon run's music
Come on, there’s gotta be at least one time where you actually prefer the North American name of a track to the European one, right? Right?
