@ a canon relationship or popular ship is still a ship. Also men and women can be friends. They were not a couple during edoles. Honestly I don’t think they ever actually got together officially… but I also haven’t watched past fairy tail zero

That is not edolas natsu and lucy. That's natsu and Lucy from the 100years quest, and they get a lot more intimate...
Also after original fairy tail ends natsu says they'll always be together so I think in his mind him and Lucy are together.
They also show fairy nail wich is another version fairy tail. So every version of nalu is together in different ways. Edo nalu is married, fairy nail nalu is dating and earthland nalu is together
