Snoop has been accused of creative embellishment in relation to his ties to Los Angeles gangs on several occasions, most notably by Eazy-E and his Gang Friends (or something like that) during his early days with Death Row Records. While this could be attributed in large part to being grouped in with Dr. Dre, whose street cred was questionable, the accusations against Snoop did not stick. He was a member of the famed Rolling 20s Crips as a teenager, and it was the elder gangsters who urged him to start rapping after serving time in prison for coke possession in 1990.
