Thank you for the slow mo replay at 0:55, one of the cleanest compound attacks I've seen

So i can say I've never had any interest in fencing, but i saw this in my RUclips recommended , I'm not sure why but I'm here for it

Look up some other matches and bouts. It can be fascinating at the top levels (the level I fence at...not so much!)
I have a couple of reaction vids on my YT channel (just click on my name), if you want to check them out,

Thank you for the foil highlights, was wanting to look at them but the Olympic channel never posted them for some reason!

I'd forgotten that Nick Itkin had been pulled for Race in the match with Russia. Still...he got a bronze medal out of it, even though he couldn't go back in (which is a stupid rule...US men's team sabre proved that)

Can somebody explain why right gets the point at 5:23 ? It seems like a clear attack left. I'm new to foil
Can't believe right also gets a point at 6:56, he advances belly first, gets poked straight in the body, attacks half a second after getting hit and gets the point
Edit: I think I get it, for the first one there might be a very slight parry/riposte, and the signal blocking time is 300ms in foil and 40ms in épée, that's why it looks weird to me, but alright I guess, the rules are the rules

In the second case, an attack from the right, because Matsuyama evaded the attack of Massialas, besides, Massialas did not stop and retained the right to touch

5:23, left attack stopped short but he continued forward with his blade, so the call would be attack left no, attack right. 6:56, Matsuyama could've had a nice preparation, but he opted to do a counterattack, and a counterattack cannot be an attack.
