Kind of happy atmosphere, drumming dancing and "Asobi" I was exposed to from 60s to mid - seventies, long time ago. Now I visit these side of Gambia's cultural celebrations online with a smile. Nostalgia? Maybe, but these scene remind of friends and family that passed on in the last 50 years and happier days. A plus for effort!
Reminds of 1960's "Sabar" Dobson Street, opposite of Alhagi Alieu Jeng's mini skyscraper. The lead drummer was one lascivious Batch who was never ashamed in launching himself of provocative female dancer. Batch was later succeeded by the Mbye Twins who grew up around the intersection of Anglesea & Dobson Streets. My cremated remains will be dissipated into sea with those memories in tow. From the waters and back to the sea.
