Lol, right? Maybe this is silly, but I'll take the very first werewolf costume on Buffy over the monkey suit. The Oz story was so good though, they made it easy to look past.
Despite them both being Champions, Angel’s never had the same moral qualms about taking human lives that Buffy has. He’s more like Giles in that regard - both of them have more experience than her in human depravity.
Buffy has killed humans though, starting with that zookeeper in The Pack and then the evil watcher, Gwen Post. It's self-defense and Angel does it too when he's fighting with murderous humans. Ben was different, however, because he was not actively trying to hurt anyone. But Giles had to close the door to stop Glory.
This does contradict the Buffy episode "Phases" where the werewolf hunter plans on killing Oz, then skinning him, indicating that werewolves don't change back to human form when they die. Also, when Veruca was killed, her body seemed to stay in wolf form.
I don't think the guy they leave behind gets ever mentioned again, but you're right, letting them eat him seems wrong. While not adressed, I always figured that just cause Angel said they're leaving him there doesn't mean he won't intervene within the next month. After all, those persons there wanted to *eat a human alive* - pretty sure The Gang will want to intervene with that.
19:20 I think Spike doesn't want to tell Angel because he doesn't want his help, Both because he hates Angel and because Angel would never stop making fun of him for it and I think Spike would rather go to hell then hear Angel go on about how he saved him.
A very atmospheric episode at the start here, where it's really the first time that the gang now are able to use the power of W&H in tracking down the Werewolf using car registration data. We can see here too the vast improvement in special effects regarding the werewolf transition and look of the creature fully turned, as opposed to the almost pantomime suit that Oz changed into in BTVS S2, when we first see the werewolf. Great conversation with Angel and Nina telling her she can control it. Spike floating around being as cynical as ever, and funny scene when Angel says 'finally' when Spike disappears. When Spike walks through the wall in Royce's office nice unexpected twist when Fred smacks him over the head with the lamp. Great scene too when Royce says to Angel 'he's scarier than you', and Angel says 'wanna bet'. With the covert team capturing Nina we now realise it was to eat her! as Angel finds the menu. I have to say they definitely seem to have got the idea for this from the 1990 movie The Freshman starring Matthew Broderick and Marlon Brando where the elite rich people pay millions to dine on endangered species. Nice conversation with Nina and Angel again in the car at the end when we see her family on the lawn giving the impression everything will be OK for her. However, this I think was one of the weaker episodes of S5.
@@MrSupertallblackman Including something known to be a human 27 other nights out of the month (I feel like I'm bastardizing Willow's quote from _Phases_ as I ask)? I think I would have issue with that one and it would be the real "disgusting" aspect.
It's not James Masters it's James MaRsters. Angel has never once referred to Cordy as the love of his extraordinary long life and Angel isn't in any way obligated to wait for her to wake up at some undisclosed time. Life doesn't just stop because tragedy has happened.
Yes, one of your girls has died, let's not think about it too much, it's time to go and find a new one. Maybe this one will live a little longer. Otherwise it's tiring when you have to look for a new one too often.
@@JuneJaneb4 Well what is he supposed to do just be alone because his partner will eventually die. That's just life in general. Angel has a life to live, he can't wait around for a potential relationship with Buffy or Cordy. If he meets someone else then that's that.
@@MrSupertallblackman Buffy who? Dude, there is no Buffy already and for a long time. We don't talk about her here. He is fine living without her for 4 years. Oh yeah, such a love of his life that eventually he had no problems moving to another city and building a completely separate personal life there, including relationships with other women and sex. He is absoultely capable of living without her, without this 'love of his life' that he met when she was a 15 year old child and he was 300. What a perfect story. The effects for Nina's werewolf form are so much better than season 3-4 Oz's monkey suit.
Lol, right? Maybe this is silly, but I'll take the very first werewolf costume on Buffy over the monkey suit. The Oz story was so good though, they made it easy to look past.
Fun fact: They changed Oz's werewolf form again in Buffy Season 8 comics by Joss Whedon.
Despite them both being Champions, Angel’s never had the same moral qualms about taking human lives that Buffy has. He’s more like Giles in that regard - both of them have more experience than her in human depravity.

On the beginning joke: Why would eating her dead be any less disgusting?
I think eating anything dead instead of alive would be less cruel and disgusting if only slightly. At least if she's dead you're not torturing her.
