Excellent tips and thank you for not using the song Let It Be in your tutorial, a song I've come to hate since every online piano teacher tends to gravitate to it in explaining techniques and giving tips : )
Hahaha, I hear you. Thanks for the kind words!
So helpful. Thanks! Humming to lyrics is the hardest jump I think.
Wonderful tips. I admit the best thing to happen in my piano journey has been finding your channel. Your teaching method is easily understood and geared toward all skill kevels.
BTW, Thanks for all the wonderful Beatles piano tutorials
I'm honored, John
Long time follower of your channel here - and student of both of your very well done courses. These are good tips. One more that I would share as well that has helped me is for songs that I'm less familiar with - just listening to the original track (or the end of your videos where you do the playthrough) several times in a row also helps imprint the lyrics into my brain and speeds up the process of syncing the singing with playing. Thanks for all your videos!
That is such a good point and now I wish I mentioned it in the video! Really knowing a song by heart is a huge help...in terms of listening to it a lot and also singing along with a recording. Also, thanks for the kind words, I'm so glad you're enjoying the courses!
Wow yes that makes perfect sense
Hey Nate, could you do a lesson on Bruce Springsteen storytellers version of Thunder road on piano.. thanks love your videos
THANK YOUUU for being the best piano teacher. im learning how to play strawberry fields forever rn bc of you!!!
That's awesome!
Really appreciate your channel. I find your teaching method and demo and chord charts very clear and easy to follow. Just want to say thanks
Awesome, thank you!
Hey, Nate! I was wondering if you could demonstrate the new Billy Joel song “Turn the Lights Back On.” I can’t figure out that piano solo for the life of me! 😂
That would be awesome
very good tips. thank you.
My pleasure!
Thanks for this Nate. Love your videos dude
I appreciate that!
great tips as always.. thank you! if you don’t mind, i’d like to request “you don’t know my name” by alicia keys piano and singing tutorial. thanks🙏🏻
One song that would be really cool, if you ever get around to it would be Miami 2017 by Billy Joel.
Thanks for the tips. I hadn't thought about humming first, will have to give that a try.
Always love your videos Nate!!!
I appreciate that!
Great tips, thank you. I have found that “mumbling” the general melody of the lyrics without attempting to sing them properly allowed me to progress quicker than trying to sing properly, so I’m happy to hear you recommend that yourself and I’m not just being weird 😁 thanks Nate
Cheers!!
Awesome brother 💗
Thanks ✌️
Awesome tips, Nate. Thanks so much!
My pleasure!
I like to break the song down into mastering blocks ; intro, verse , chorus, etc, humming along and isolating the hard parts to get them fluid. Also I watch your Play-through over n over to get the feel right. And play the song regularily so I don't forget,....that's another issue.
Totally!
Nate. This is so true and helpful. It all rings so true. Your analogy of riding a bike could not be better. It looks so easy, and of course is to all of us who learnt when a child and have continued adding to all that muscle memory over a lifetime. To the casual onlooker, singing and playing looks a piece of cake, but this ‘ease of doing so’ has only been arrived at after hours of ground work and practice. All your thoughts and tips in this video are so helpful. Your clarity of thought and ability to break down problems into little chunks is so helpful and inspiring. Thank you
I'm so glad this resonated with you!
Really great and necessary video, thanks Nate. One bit of feedback - Maybe I'm the only one who really doesn't like these bits of stock footage sprinkled throughout the videos, but... I know lots of folk seem to do it now, but IMHO if you have something valuable to say then just say it, and edit accordingly. Please be happy to "you do you". :)
I appreciate the feedback! I'm on the fence about it as well. I've been trying to make these general lesson videos more engaging for new viewers. I'd be very curious what others think as well!
Yes you are the only one.
Hey Nate. I have a request can you do a tutorial on maxwells silver hammers by The Beatles?
Can you do a tutorial on the never ending story 🙏🏼
Hi Nate. Great tips, thanks. Can you maybe do a tutorial on Something by George Harrison?!
Oh man. Yea...it's a daunting project but I will definitely do it
Could I request REM - At my most beautiful. Such a beautiful piano song
