The fact that we could all come together as D9 women and wear Chucks and Pearls to support Vice President Kamala Harris and we still "dis" other black women but honor black men amazes me. So glad my chapter didn't allow this at my probate show 22 years ago. We greeted everyone out of respect. Let's normalize respect.

Same thing I was just saying. I’m not D9 but any more than 30+ pledges at a HBCU and 10+ pledges at PWI’s is excessive. Nothing exclusive about 70+ women at one university joining an organization ANNUALLY.

I want to say that I am not in favor of large lines. I believe in quality over quantity. I don't believe in those who want to become a part of this illustrious organization for social only reasons and not service. WE ARE a service organization Phirst. My belief is definitely more critical when it comes to graduate over undergraduate. Undergraduate sorors are the life line and future of our sorority. In the same light, enjoy your time as an undergraduate. The experience is invaluable. You will have long lasting memories and sisters forever. The sustainability of our GREAT and Distinguish sorority is the result of the sorors that tirelessly work to uphold the sorority's mission, goals and purpose....work to continue the sorority's perpetuation, longevity and legacy. I'm hoping ALL these beautiful sisters would be rocking their own grown hair. That comes with the territory. All natural black beautiful women. In the 60's- 80's it was rare seeing a young black woman with fake hair ,and we were just as beautiful as these ladies rocking our own hair. Be it short to long, straight,wavy to nappy. Some older black women did wear wigs. Women of my mother's age. Also the brothers back then didn't like fake hair and would call you out. They loved us beautiful Queens whether our hair was short or long.

The way I see it, there are more negative comments about Divine 9 members than the other way around. We are all in this thing called "life " with its struggles and challenges together, especially for the Black community. Why waste time on being negative about individuals that continuously strive to be of service, give back and make a difference.

I have countless family and friends that are members of the “Divine Nine.” However, I chose not to be a part of any of these organizations because they clash with my beliefs as a follower of and believer in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. As individuals, we all make choices. Therefore, in life, I have chosen to refrain from joining secret societies. Sure, these organizations do good works but you don’t need to be apart of them to do good works. You can do good works alone, or as a part of groups, or do both - acting alone and as a group member. The point is I took exception about the use of “godly pride” by a commenter because Jesus hates pride, and the Holy Bible is clear that “pride” comes before the fall. So, I stand by what I said and I stand firm in what I believe.

I mean that annual million dollar donation gotta come from somewhere. The ousted former supreme put them in the red when she stole like $2mill. The current supreme Basileus, who was tamiouchas (treasurer) at the time, oversaw it. It’s all about money and getting as many girls with hope that at least a few become someone they can brag on. One can go from campus to campus and see there’s barely sisterhood within the pink and green org.
This comment is mean, nasty, and unnecessary. Why can't you just uplift these ladies. Why would something that happend with a former Supreme from over a decade have anything to do with these ladies now? You are reaching and being mean. Comments like yours are hurtful to these young ladies .

@@dennitasutton-pierre4169 Ignore. They are clueless. We are a multi-million dollar organization. When you attend the conferences, you learn how financially solid we are. In addition, if we have the capacity to raise over one million dollars in ONE day to continue to support HBCU'S THREE years in a row, we have the capacity to ensure that our organization will be financially viable and solid. We have educational endowments, scholarships and fellowships under a separate arm of the organization called EAF. Hence, we are not financially ignorant. Trust me, we are not in the red by any stretch of the imagination..
@@rwashington5442 I am a 13 year member so I know. What I hate is that no one has a choice on the size of their line, no one. They act like the new initiates choose how big or how small their line will be. Are they supposed to forgo their dream to become a member just because their line is large? Who in their right mind will say "this line is too large, I will wait on becoming a member"....no one. What is even worse is that most of these comments are from "Men". I guess they were never taught the importance of uplifting black women. These nasty, hateful and immature comments are definitely reflective of their character.
