Received my first shipment of Indian/West Indian mangoes last week and they surpassed my expectations. I am a huge fan of Alex and his crew. Will be a customer for life.
Suvarna rekha means Golden stripe. Pedda rasalu and chinna rasalu means big and small juicy. These three mangoes are in use for Andhra pradesh pickles in india.Recent hidden jems are Kothapalli kobbari variety use for traditional pickle making. Another jem called Panduri juicy mango. Another one is panchadara kalasa also grown in Florida. Andhra pradesh one of the state in india also famous for Bangina palli variety. Thanq for your great efforts.
Love listening to Alex…really wonderful to have such a great mind in the industry…Paul I think you could interview him about his opinions on paint drying for hours and I would be glued
Good job Alex and Paul! I'm probably going to watch this video a bunch of times like the 1st indian variety mango video. Last week I ordered a Alampur baneshan (as mentioned in this video) from tropical acres. After falling in love with my Kasar mango tree I'm only going to plant mango's with that West Indian flavor. 👍👍👍
David I think God gave this vision to you because you reach a big audience. And he knew you would be faithful to inform the people so we can prepare for this physically and emotionally. Thank you sooo much for sharing this.
Hey guys the Indian variety Gilas( At 32:50) is from a town named Malihabad near Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh. Malihabad is also famous for Dasheri mango all around the world. Malihabad is the mango capital of Uttar Pradesh. Gilas is one of the Indigenous and rare variety of Malihabad. We still have a mother plant this variety alive till date, it is said to be 120+ years old. Very Juicy, excellent taste, alternate fruiting. We love this mango.
@@EliteCycleWalkWindsorCanada yes exactly. His ancestors home is near my resident and his few family members are living here in Malihabad only. Are you fond of Mangos as well as Poetry ?
Great video Paul!! I always wonder if Alex may have any of the varieties from the Dominican Republic..It seems like it is so difficult to find . Anybody knows where I can find those in FL.?
Great info as always. Much improved quality video and audio. Way to step up your game! With respect recommend investing a bit more still on audio to hit that sweet spot.
South Indian climate has more similarity with Florida. I guess people living in Florida should choose South Indian varieties(ex. Imam pasand) for better result if looking for Indian mangos.
Langda or Malda mango trees grown from seeds takes 5-8 years to bear fruit. I've a few at my native which took 6 years before bearing fruit. If they're grafted then it is said that the tree bears fruit bit earlier around 4-5 years of age. How did you grow this variety ? There are couple of other famous bengal mango varieties which you may try to expand into Himsagar and Fajli. All the best of luck on the Langda/Malda bearing fruit soon. Maybe I'll reach out to you for a graft soon enough.
Interesting to know that you are growing in Florida. Want to know if you have any from Bengal region and UP region. Such as Himsagar and Lengra and many others.
Again a mango variety (Aslay-Muqar-rar) discussed at 55:45 is an indigenous and rare variety of Malihabad, Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh). I do have this variety in my orchard. A very old mango variety of Malihabad.
In your next video please include real ripped mango fruits of every variety you are cultivating. Also include the shape, color, size, individual fruit weight and so on Prof Dr Maheshwar Sapkota. Congratulations to you for your two videos
We would like to do that although not always possible as the timing of their season can conflict and of course some did not have fruit on them this year. In future videos about each variety we’ll try to have a representative fruit available
I was in tripura, Panisagar. In that place many fruits on trees had insects in them ( like 99% of them had insects ) Mangoes, Guavas, plum not sure why but people used to say this place is cursed. also, My maternal uncle had huge mango trees , i mean they were every tall and big. Why do people don't want such large mango trees these days. I am not sure which variety it was
It's hard to pick a tall mango tree. 🥭 Fruit is wasted when it falls. I used to think a large mango tree was good until I learned differently. You got to be able to pick the fruit.
Will Imam Pasand / Himayath grow in Northern California (Sacramento 9b)? climate is very similar to Hyderabad, Telangana (dry and hot). We do get some frost in winters, but I am hoping to manage.
There is a mango in Pakistan known as Sindhri. It's big giant size very sweet mango. It comes from southern province of Sindh. Also known as king of mangoes.
thanks for the info but i can't grow any mangoes i'm in too cold of a climate and only growing one mango tree the palmer variety in a grow bag but thats it
Alampoor Belisha is the name used in most of Andra pradesh state , if you say imam pasand, large percentage of Indians don’t know. Only small percentage of people in Hyderabad [capital city of Telangana] use imam pasand
Since most all indian type mango's are "Mid season mango's" it would be interesting to know which mango's are the earliest and the latest that have a West Indian type flavor.
I am from South India, our mango season starts in the month of and by July ending ,mangoes have insects in them. Actually Mango season starts one month before in Indian compared to America.
The longer mangoes are called “TOOTHAPURI” we love those do not throw them out, when it’s green you can send it tome I’ll buy them from you. Please & Thank you
Indian mangoes are good. It is 2nd to Philippine mangoes in terms of ranking. If you cant find Philippine mango variety then Indian mangoes are next option.
That's debatable. Mangoes are indiginous to India and there are heck ton of the varieties that are available in India. So you can't say for sure unless you tried them all. Only reason many poeple in west are not very aware of Indian magoes is because of the low indian population which meant non-existent exports to the wetern hemispeare. It is just getting more common these days.
"Do well in Florida" is not specific enough. I've noticed that most often than not it refers to South Florida and zone 10+, but you'd do well to remember the entire state is not just one zone. Central and Northern Florida have different growing zones. For example, in central Florida. the 4 or 5 days or so of below zero temperatures in zone 9b is enough to kill or significantly damage these mango trees here even with covered protection. IF there are any varieties that not only survive but actually thrive in zones 9b, 9a or zone 8, please include that in your questions to the grower for this video to be actually helpful, or don't write "Florida" in the description as clickbait. Not every Floridian lives in Miami or wants to. Thank you.
This is a strange complaint…Central Florida definitely does not get 4-5 days below zero…to say clickbait is absurd…this is a Florida grower and everyday people are growing mangoes all over Florida…use common sense…this is a beyond petty complaint my friend

Much colder in Northern California. The tree will likely barely grow at all and will die if it experiences freezes without protection
Many Northern India Mango plants take upto 8-10 years to fruit.
Why is that?
