Yes it is strange because I watched a video from another You Tuber who had filmed at Puerto Alcudia on Monday at noon. When he showed the beach area, I commented to my husband that it looked like there were quite a few chemtrails in the blue sky. Certainly makes you wonder.

We flew back home today, and the staff at the airport did a great job considering the floods yesterday. We had a 1 and a 1/2 hour delay, which was good under the circumstances. Traffic was bad, but we hadn't hired a car and the taxi driver knew what she was doing. I was glad not to be driving. We bought food from the local supermarket before setting off. Thank you Alex for that tip.
We had a great holiday. The people in Port de Pollenca were very welcoming. As has been said, the UK news has created concerns that aren't there as regards tourists not being welcome. Too many hire cars; the numbers are astonishing, property prices etc. are completely understandable concerns for local people to draw attention to I think.
As for the beaches at Port de Pollenca, they actually looked more beautiful without the sunbeds in my opinion. We just brushed ourselves down and popped for an ice cream, drink or food and asked if we could use the toilets. Multi Hire have anything and everything if you want to get bits and bobs for your stay.
Thank you again Mallorca Under the Sun for all your tips!

I lived on Mallorca in the early 2000's & again in 2017 the overcrowding seems off the scale now, property prices are insane & general governance is broken. I've got many happy memories but equally many horror stories which is why I left. Things seem to have become unbearable now!

Hi, not sure if my comments will be picked up so late after the video was posted, but need to comment on our experience of Palma airport having travelled in on June 22nd and out again on July 6th. We have been travelling to Mallorca, as a family on holiday for the past 10 years. Over the past 2-3 years the airport has gotten worse and worse. What is getting worse - 1. Passport control checks. When we arrived, mid day on June 22nd, there seemed to be about 4-5 other aircraft arriving so the entrance to the passport control area at arrivals was absolutely packed!!!! It took us 1 hour approx to pass through the passport control area and the reason for this was that there were 2 PEOPLE checking passports for ALL these arriving flights. This is not the first time this has happened but this was the worst arrival experience so far. There are plenty of new automatic passport gates but these can not be used by families with young children, which was the majority of people in the hour long queue. I thought this was a blip on arrival, but the same thing happened after check-in on departure, again 2 passport control officers where available to check more than 200+ people on departure. This is all the more aggravating when there are 10-11-12 shiny new empty passport control booths visible to queuing crowd. For an airport of the size and throughput of Palma this is totally unacceptable and is getting worse year on year. It will influence us, as a family considering going again next year as each year has gotten progressively worse. 2. The facilities for dining and sitting once you get through security on departure is appalling. The scene inside the food hall is chaotic, with various food providers dishing out food with little capacity anywhere to actually sit and eat. There are acres of shiny new shops to spend your money in but a paltry small area to actually sit and eat. I witnessed more than one angry dispute between travelers as a result. Again for an airport the size and with the throughput of Palma this is totally criminal!!! Once you pass this area there are literally acres of corridors and walkways where i would suggest you take your food to eat - but you will need to sit on the floor as again there is NO seating. In closing I want to make it clear I have visited many other international airports and none of them are fantastic, but Palma really is falling down on the absolute basics and it is wearing thin now year after year.

We have been going to Mallorca for many years but unfortunately we had booked for June many months ago and didn’t realise that we would be so unwelcome. And all this anti-tourism would be in full swing. We did notice in Porto Cristo that the restaurants, etc were definitely not as busy as usual. I think the Balearics might regret chasing Tourism away. They are busy extending/updating the Airport, I wonder for whom. We will definitely not be returning.

How can you say you’ve never heard of Palma airport being closed in the last 19years?! It was closed last August 27th when palma was hit by that massive storm me and my family had to endure a 30hr delay/detour via Valencia to Barcelona then a 10hr ferry eventually to Palma! Total nightmare my youngest was only 4months old. Problem they have is by having just one airport on the island of Majorca it’s ridiculous for an island of that size to have only one airport incase of bad weather. Even Tenerife has two airports for this very reason.
