Sequence rules for R and S nomenclature

- Опубликовано: 13 июл 2024
- Sequence rules give the ranking order for the groups attached to chiral carbon in order to assign R or S configuration to that carbon. Mainly three sequence rules are defined to rank the groups in priority order.

Way of teaching is good and this way of explanation is easy to understand
Thank you so much 🙏
Excellent sir!❣️
Sir plz tell me if with the chiral two carbon are attached lets say c1 and c2 and in c1 there is cl,c,c,H and in c3 there is double bonded O and H when which will have higher priority c2 or c2?
Thank u for your well explanation....

-COOH, OH which has more priority?
OH right?
Exactly, -OH is given more priority than -COOH.
Thank you sir ❤️
Wow nice one sir😎🙂😊

Ex 4 ma oxygen ko 1no. milna tha na
Exactly ! Oxygen is given more preference than nitrogen
Is example 4 wrong?cause oxygen should be given the priority
Example 4 is correct. While we give ranking we have to consider the first atoms directly attached to chiral carbon. So here they are -NH2, -CH3, -COOH and H. Among these nitrogen is given preference than carbon. Now competition is in between -CH3 and -COOH. Then we have to expand the group and compare further groups attached. So, -CH3 has three hydrogens (H,H,H) whereas -COOH has three oxygens (O,O,O). Therefore -COOH is given preference than -CH3. Hope now its clear at this example. Thank you for watching this video.

Lower priority group that should be placed in bottom naa
It should be on the vertical line, but it will be easy to assign configuration when the lowest priority group is at the bottom.
Very helpful
Thank you sir
