    This is outstanding. I have Stat Mech in the fall and when we get to black body radiation, I may take a day off and just run this video.

    @ 55:25 Planck didn't have a physical interpretation for his law. And therefore, he didn't like it that much (hello, string theorists, you can learn from this man), even after Einstein used the quantum to explain the photoelectric effect. In general, physicists didn't like the quantum at all. So it was more than logical that around 1905 Rayleigh and Jeans came up with their own version.
