Thank you Dr Smithyman. These videos have been so profoundly helpful. I love your book as well. Social anxiety is such a serious and die issue for me and it is storage that so few therapists specialize in this.
I'm 45 and I used to be pretty social especially when I was younger. I would love going out into the world and seeing what trouble I could get into. These days, especially with the increase of the digitizing interpersonal format of communication, I feel like most interactions are unnecessary. Even going out into the world is becoming increasingly difficult as it begins to instill gut feelings and reactions within me, and I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one. I've heard another psychologist by the name of Chase Hughes mentioned the effect of this psychopathy machine. He posits that modern-day cities with its modern-day people using its modern-day technology has synthesized a meticulous way of creating psychopathy amongst our population. How we can often simply film a situation with our smart devices or step over a homeless person or ignore someone's cries for help. Why leave the house? Why go into the world where majority of people that you interact with will either stare at you like a threat or ignore you entirely in the first place and not everyone, just those who have become actors within the frame of psychopathy. I go out all the time but I can't stop thinking about this.
I don't like that everyone in these videos is young. There are a lot of older people in these situations who could benefit from watching these videos, but itself a hit alienating when they're all young - younger than the presenter too.
I've been trying to follow this rule for many years now, but sometimes the anxiety in the moment is stronger than the motivation/excitement to get this personal success and/or get to know someone. How would you suggest to handle this self-disappointment and not let the failure be reason to lose confidence?
Honestly, if you just don't really give too much thought about what the other person thinks about you and simply understand who you are. Know your boundaries retain your confidence, fake it till you make it and smile. You should be okay. It isn't easy, nothing really is and at the end of the day you should always question your own preferences and ask yourself. Is this really worth my time?

I'm going to try 3 times a week, not per social event.

I've just discovered your channel and it's really great. In what city are you located? Many thanks from Florida 🙏🌍🕊🕊

I had this question too. Weird to have a whole video and no practical example.
Hi, my name is 'insert name'.
