中日兩國的生活工藝都面臨著同樣一個問題：即在保證當代實用性的同時，如何保留文化主體性的存在。生活工藝應該呈現多視角的認識，既要承襲，也需改進。
生活工藝類產品關注的不僅僅是本身的造型，它更需注意產品有沒有人購買、使用，是致用的美，是對每個人生活態度的塑造。
在當代設計語境下，生活工藝的未來，一在於深化技術研究，注重與生產企業的聯合，以工匠精神注入當代產品；二在於加強對消費觀念、生活方式、使用情境等方面的研究。展示出我們這個時代，對美的一種理解，以及對生活的一種態度，帶動生活觀念的改變。

日中両国の生活工芸は同じ一つの問題に直面しています。それは現代的な実用性と文化の主体性の保存の両立という問題です。生活工芸は多角的な視野から認識を持って、伝統を受け継ぎつつも改良をする必要があります。
生活工芸に類する生産品は本体の造形だけではなく、購入・使用する人がいるかどうかまで注意を払う必要があります。それこそが実用の美であり、個々人のライフスタイルに合わせた制作なのです。
モダンなデザインの文脈において、生活工芸の未来は次の二つが肝心です。一つは技術研究を推し進め、生産企業との協力関係に注力して職人の魂が籠ったモダンな商品を作ることです。そしてもう一つは、消費者意識やライフスタイル、使用環境などへの研究を推し進めることです。美への理解と生活スタイルに対して私たちの時代らしさを応用することで、生活の意識を変えるのです。
