The key to get full range of motion on this by turning the feet outward and keeping the knees out. I put a resistance band around mine and it really made a nice difference . I Slow down the movement significantly and my legs have grown significantly.
My quads, hamstrings and calves blew up once I got a vertical leg press for my house. Between weight plates and resistance bands the workouts are awesome without any real danger or back pains.
Great review. I, too, like the more moderate weight on the press because of past lower back problems. Doesn’t make sense for most to grab a commercial-sized leg press unless they’re lifting for competition.
I just laid on my living room floor and realized i cant even get anyehere near close to the position required to sit in this. Ive been lifting for years and i do focus on stretching. I can touch my toes. But i cant even bring my knees anywhere close to my chest

After spending that much and to receive that kind of customer service I recommend not doing business with them.

Thanks for the review. Went ahead and got one myself! Also, I've been struggling to find some gym shorts that fit nicely, and I'm digging the ones in the video! Which brand are those?
Nice review on the vertical leg press by Titan. The maximum amount of weight to load on that machine is 400 pounds. From what I have been told pressing from the vertical position will not require a lot of weights for an effective workout. Were you able to exhaust your quads performing the conventional sets of 3, 10 reps routine during your workout?
@@hybridresistance Thanks for responding. I like the idea of having a leg press machine and super setting the workout with the sliding bench trainer. In fact anyone can superset any body part exercise (conventional weight training) with the sliding bench trainer to hit the muscles in all places. Perhaps one day you may want to do a video of conventional strength training and super setting the workout with either the Total Gym or with the ProForm Ultimate Bodywork. That I think would garner a lot of interest and intrigue many who may be on the fence of buying a sliding bench trainer.
If is too easy, do one leg presses . You won't be able press 400lbs per leg. And go slower reps too, that put tension. Many people think they are strong by fast reps , but slow reps they barely move it.
@@dylano7242 Dylan, I didn’t say it was easy to do. What I said “pressing from a vertical position will not require a lot of weights for an effective work” meaning you don’t need to add a lot of weights when pressing from a vertical position. The ratio from that angle is one to one. For example doing standing barbell presses will not require a whole lot of weights to effectively work out your shoulders. If you are stronger then you add more weights accordingly. The same is true when doing vertical leg presses. 400 lbs is a whole lot of weight as many people who owns that machine will never reach.

I have not tried their row machine. I own and love the concept 2 rower. I've made a couple videos about it and do think it's a tremendous workout machine.
I think the bigger issue is the bottom position. As long as you're flexible enough to maximize that hip/knee flexion you should be good. I don't think you'd top it out from extending it. But I can't say for sure.
I've been eyeing this product for months, but decided loading/unloading plates would be a pain (fortunately my community center has a similar apparatus using a weight stack).
it definitely sucks. I don't even use mine anymore for this reason. I'm at a point where I need a ton of plates to work my legs properly and loading and unloading is just not fun.
I'm 5'6" and it works. My problem is actually loading the plates. It's kind of annoying because I'm not tall enough to lift them off the top without it being awkward.
Great review 🙏 I have a vertical leg pres I love it but I’m wondering does anyone know how much the foot plate weighs I can’t be bothered taking the weight plates off to check☺️ i def find it harder to press as much weight on this as a 45 degree just wondering what extra weight the top part foot plate and bar adds ??
I wonder how do you press the weight up with what part of the foot ? I’ve seen Matt wenning pressing with the ball if he’s feet with he’s heel raise but that’s more for the quad but beside that do you press between your arch of the feet and heel ?
I pretty much switch it up (balls of feet, mid foot, heels) but regardless of what version I'm doing I still make sure that my heels is isn't lifting on the decent. But I think this depends on your range of motion and height. My wife had a hard time finding a position where she could get low enough without her heel raising. She's 5'1.

Yes definitely. I find if you mess with position a bit, intensity, and overall volume you can really work them. I'd say this machine works best using it once or twice max a week to ensure you're still getting that stimulus and not overdoing the specific movement pattern. I do a lot of sets on this when I'm using it, but I find if I do it too often it can start to arrrevate certain joints (knees, hips).
I'm actually planning on doing that in the new year as I've still got things I've yet to assemble / review. Since this video (not sure you know), I've moved most of my equipment in my garage.
@@hybridresistance that’s cool. I don’t have a garage so I have everything on a room, I would love to add more equipment but there’s only so much I can put inside. I just got a titan vertical leg press so I’m figuring out how to workout around it lol
I tried doing vertical leg presses on a smith machine and had trouble finding the exact right position to lay down so my butt wouldn't rise up off the ground too much and as such i had some lower back pain the mext morning. Did you have any lower back issues with this machine ?
Personally no, I don't have issues. But it for sure can be hard for some to get into the start position with it fully at the bottom and could potentially flex the lumbar spine at the start. I'll be reviewing a new leg press (more $$ though) on the channel within the next week or so that is amazing and much friendlier on the back.
I have 2 vertical leg presses got used $100 apiece. And neither are perfect One is body solid that are everywhere. Problem is has stupid pegs like Titan fitness to set height and depth. It is ridiculous have use pegs when going heavy to lock it out. And has no center support on frame to stop wobbly when going heavy. But very comfortable pad and neck Other vertical leg press is body smith, very heavy duty frame can go 675lbs, and has lock out arms not pegs to set depth and height. Does not wobble at all like body solid. But the back pad is horrible kills my back and neck.
I think it's normal for all machines in that price range. I've been searching for a few days, and all the vertical press machines use pegs. But you don't have to move pegs in order to do the workout. The pegs are just to select a starting height position.
At the 12:00 mark you'll see me loading my 1in plates on top. I'm sure it's not recommended though (and depends on the brand) as it's fit for 2in plates.
