    What's great about these videos is Keith's amazing ability to **naturally emphasize** and break down important architectural parts of a system/application so newbies on a topic can quickly get over the hurdles. This is my go to channel when I say "time to get off my butt and watch what Keith is cookin'"!

    Keith - thank you so much for putting together this for us! I've been so confused on the Ansible/Puppet/Chef and this was quite helpful. Would you do a video on Puppet & Chef too? I LOVE the TDW!

    One thing I've noticed about Ansible is things change very quickly. By the time I get to watch this video it's already out of date. I dug in a couple years ago, but found so many things didn't work and quickly let it go. TDW's are adding up lol

    Hi Keith,
    This still seems rather complicated. Is there a popular GUI version that uses Ansible, Python Restconf and Yang to automate and if so why not just use that? It just feels like we are trying to write out math problems here instead of using a calculator

    • @stevefrost83

      Check out Ansible Tower or AWX if you want a GUI for Ansible.

    Great tutorial Keith, but your instructions may not work for all environments. I spent about a week trying to get this scenario working (using latest version of Ubuntu 24.something....) There is a setting in the ansible.cfg file that will require attention for ssh onto Cisco IOS to authenticate successfully - to be specific, ansible will not attempt to use the username in the hosts file without it.
    The setting in question is: look_for_keys=False
    The setting can be found at the bottom of the ansible.cfg file if it is generated using the built in command to generate it (ansible-config init > /path/to/ansible.cfg) is used
    Not sure if this is something related to the latest version of Ubuntu or Python perhaps
    It appears the default behavior is to use key authentication and not try usernames and passwords without this setting in the config file.
    I would like to think my comment / findings will help your other viewers avoid hours of troubleshooting.
    Keep Up The Good Work.

    An exception occurred during task execution. To see the full traceback, use -vvv. The error was: OSError: out of pty devices
    fatal: [10.0.0.252]: FAILED! => {"msg": "Unexpected failure during module execution.", "stdout": ""}
    lol
    I am getting tired of reading Ansible docs. I really like Nornir it just works lol.
