  • Hi Everyone. Just a very quick video on the cleaning of the tow ball and how i do it and have done for the last 4 tow bars. I'll never use wet and dry and I don't think you should ether. the should never be nice and shiny like a mirror. you don't get the grip the tow ball needs against the pads in the alko tow hitch.

    Excellent job, so much easier than sand paper. You’d think the manufacturers would coat the ball with easier removable wax.

      Hi thanks for commenting ☺ yes it's so much easier to do. Like you I always thought it was be easier to use wax or a peelable plastic coating. Thanks again Paul and Sarah

    Just had a tow bar fitted to our new (to use) car today, so done the same to our tow ball, but just with wet 'n' dry paper, wish i'd thought of doing it this way it would have saved me 30 mins.

      Hi David. Glad I could be of some help. It's such a easy way to do the tow ball. Most people try to polish them so they shine. It takes away the ridges on the tow ball and donest give the tow ball the grip it needs on your hitch so just cleaning off the paint is all anyone should be doing. Thanks again for your comment 👍

    Hi Paul, Firstly congrats on the 1K, really well deserved.
    I did our tow ball with wet n dry and it wasn't long before it was looking grubby, will be trying your method as it looked easy and the results are great.
    Thanks for sharing, keep them coming, cheers Martin

    Yo Paul, good job and great idea for those of you with removable balls… 🥴
    Ours if a fixed fold down and was already ‘clean’ so I just give it a once over with a slice of wet ‘n dry before each trip now, to remove any slight rust build up and any towing burrs… ✅

      Hi Rob. Thanks for commenting mate. Removable balls is a must 🤣 you can get a better hand on it mate 😳✊ fixed fold down is it driven by a electric motor or spring loaded.

      @@paulandsarahcaravanlife 😂
      It is electrically controlled, but by magnet, switch releases the magnet and it drops down and one then locks it in place manually by flipping it upwards.
      On release it drops down from active position and is then pushed back up to make contact with the magnet. I guess there is a safety locking pin where it is housed, but cannot see the home location. It just works and is a great addition… 👍🏻
      Cheers, Rog… 😉

    Hi Paul, great video. Just wanted to check something. The brass wire doesn’t damage the ball at all does it? This what I’m afraid of, and end up creating a bigger mess :(

    • @paulandsarahcaravanlife
      @paulandsarahcaravanlife  Год назад +1

      Hi Lee. I've been doing it this way for years mate. It doesn't damage at all. If you keep it moving I can't see it ever being a problem. Hope that helps. 🙏 thanks for watching and commenting ☺️ Paul

    Hi Paul,
    Can I just ask a few questions about the Sportage as we are looking at possibly getting one of these which has a kerb weight of 1662kg ......does that mean we can tow up to that weight - it's such a bloody minefield trying to work out what weight caravan we could tow with a 2.0 CRDI Sportage AWD KX-2 (2016 ) minimum kerb weight 1662kg. I did ring a caravan sales place and they told me I can tow up to the minimum kerb weight?
    Also, how are you getting on with the car?
    Thanks.

    • @paulandsarahcaravanlife
      @paulandsarahcaravanlife  3 года назад

      Hi Steve. I know what you mean about being a minefield 😳 but we always go by what the car can tow. This car in its spec can tow 2.2 Tons. And out caravan is alway loaded over the axle never forward of that axle. And it's always worked well for us. As for the sportage it's a great tow car and as yet can't fault it. Only time will tell. Thanks for your comments and continued support to the channel 👍 cheers Paul and Sarah

    Since the actual demo was recorded at home, why did you need to film the intro while driving, risking distraction? I would think that was as distracting as a phone call.

      Hi Robert thanks for your comment. I don't actually touch the camera I have a Bluetooth button I hold I my hand a click it on and off to stop the camera. Not at anytime do I touch the camera or mount. I take on board what you've said and I try not to do too many intros in the car. Or if I'm with my wife she can if needed turn it on and off but be assured I am not at any time touching a camera. Thanks again,
