The companies that were sent to this chest pain call were not the normal first due units. Normally Ambulance 6 would have been the first due ambulance however they must have been on another run. In regards to why a Tower Ladder company was dispatched really had nothing to do with a Tower Ladder but it had to do with being a fire company with extra manpower. If the call is for a cardiac case or if the ambulance is more than 18 blocks away then the CFD with dispatch a fire company as an ambulance assist company. Since Ambulance 61 is an ALS unit the fire company dispatched will usually be a BLS unit however Tower Ladder 21 isn't the regular 1st due unit to 1333 w Belmont either and the first due assist company should have been Engine 78 which is normally and ALS (Advanced Life Support) Engine company and the 2nd due Engine should have been Engine 55 which is also an ALS equipped Engine. So both Engines 78 and 55 were probably out of service but even if Engines 78 and 55 were out of service Truck 44 should then have been dispatched to 1333 W Belmont. It looks to me like several of the nearby fire companies were also not in service. Normally Tower Ladder 21 would be the 2nd due Truck to 1333 W Belmont and Truck 44 is normally the first due Truck. Ivan do you have any Idea as to where Engines 78,55 or Truck 44 was this morning as all 3 of them are normally closed to 1333 W Belmont than Tower Ladder 21 is.?
