Marilyn Monroe and David Wayne in How To Marry A Millionaire (1953)
“Quite a strudel”. ❤️😆
I came here to say this.
The way he says it, I wouldn't mind being called a strudel 😁
@@arn0ubacutie
@@arn0ubastrudel is a sweet pastry with icing , in other words he was complimenting her beauty by comparing it to a very tasty pastry
@@amberlytownsend2856doesnt it mean baddie??
"I've never seen anybody in my while life who reminded me less of an old maid."
Flirting 101
she has an unexplained beauty and charisma. she was truly one of a kind.
What makes you say this? Have you met her in person? No, didn't think so
@@yeahyeah410 i am referring to her as an actress. i will not be able to know her completely but as u can see her performance here. it is really good.
The most attractive thing about her was her charm and that voice.
@@yeahyeah410 dear, most people we like, love we haven't
Met, like the videos we viewed. The movies we see is usually cause we like, Love the cast.
@@elainelosee7974 And you have watched this film? And you like the cast aside from Marolyn? Have you seen any other of the co star's films? And have you seen any of Marolyn's other films?
She and her character are so adorable
Because of her, I got that cat eye shape of glasses. She just wears them so well!
Yes those cat eye glasses are perfect on her!
Aww I'm certain you wear them well, too :)))
This scene is so funny. He deadpanned every word he said while she was being so soft spoken. It's cute. It's camp. Love that for them!
I agree 👍🏿
He (David Wayne) really lifts this scene. His acting is just perfect
Her hair style and her glasses are so iconic
No wonder all these decades later the world is still smitten with her...it truly is impossible not to fall in love with Marilyn Monroe, what an irreplaceable angel
Her makeup is flawless
I think the women were healthier then so she probably not wearing that much make up
@@reneegibson2911 she had loads off make tan cream all thick make up hut lighter shades
@@reneegibson2911no they wore a lot of makeup back then. Especially since foundations were THICK. Marilyn specifically wore thick foundation with vaseline as a base
@@reneegibson2911a lot of makeup techniques now come from the 50s
@@reneegibson2911she is wearing TONS of makeup 😂😂😂😂😂 her makeup artist Whitey was one of the best in the biz. And women were spectacularly LESS healthy then
Okay, but she be looking really good with glass.
No, not really, the writers who made this stuff up and the costume designer did a terrible effort
@@yeahyeah410 you blind? she look gorgeous
@@trollingsoul3386 The woman does, of course, that's how all actors are, 10/10, but I personally think those glasses in particular don't look good on her or the character she portrays, hence the writers make the man sitting beside her make her feel comfortable so to wear them and eventually take her back to the bedroom, whatever works for the story, sure, I guess,
@@yeahyeah410 idk if its subjective or it is only me but i like how they fit she looks real gorgeous with them but maybe i added her personality idk
She does indeed look nice with the glasses on.
They are wonderful together. Quite a chemistry. That's probably why he was cast with her four times, more than anyone else
The glasses is so iconic
What a lovely scene. Such charm and it really cheered me up. There was no-one like Marilyn. Absolutely beautiful, a voice so soothing and very underestimated in her acting and timing. ❤⭐🌞
Dat tru.
That satin blouse she's wearing is gorgeous.
i think it is silk
This is exactly how I flirt
By being dumb??
@@hazeeqrazak reallt you think she was dumb. She made her whole career on making a character that looked dumb on the surface but was always making moves and understood exactly what was going on around her. It's a subtle and very nuanced act.
Its easy to understand how men fell in love with Marilyn. She could be such a darling kitten.
Men mainly fell in lust with her
@@vanillachocolate8250 yes people don’t seem to know the difference. Marilyn must of have been very lonely
Makes 0 sense to me whatsoever, I think the acting is tragic and so is the script, terrible, quick bang for the buck
@@yeahyeah410 men prove to me every day how they dont view women as people
@@Haysti2000 I mean maybe you must yet change your inner view of men to discover better results, I too must discover unconditional love towards all women and lower my own resentments, its a journey but here we are, we must learn to unconditionally love ... good luck
Prejudice against glasses on women doesn't exist now, but it still did when I was a kid----I was born two years after this film came out. Probably the last real gasp of glasses prejudice was Velma in Scooby-Doo, and that came out in 1969.
Not really. I was born in 1995 and in the early 2000s teen movies, the ugly duckling always has glasses, braces and curly hair. In the end she gets a makeover and looks fabulous, but of course the glasses and braces are gone and her hair is straight. Typical 2000s narrative. The day I was told I needed glasses when I was 12 years olf, it was the biggest tragedy to me. I was so so ashamed. I'm happy it's different today! And this scene here always boosts my confidence like nothing else! Grateful that they included glasses in the movie.
@@90sHONEY Thanks for the education. I too had braces when young, just so happens, but growing up I felt neither male or female, or even American or Japanese-American----I felt like an alien---which is *SOME* explanation why I wasn't able to see the negative image surrounding glasses for people born forty years after me.
Television didn't really have Black performers *STARRING* in shows until 1970 (Diahann Carroll in "Julia" and Lloyd Haynes in "Room 222". I haven't forgotten Nichelle Nichols in "Star Trek" or Bill Cosby in "I-Spy").
I get it NOW, that thinking glasses prejudice ending in 1969 is as ignorant as thinking prejudice against Blacks in entertainment ended in 1970.
Hard to say, I've read testimonies of World War II nurses who by their service portraits wore glasses and they actually were laughing about how many times American GIs and others came up and flirted with them. Apparently their demeanors were so appealing the fellas didn't mind the spectacles. Perhaps it just depended on the group.
It still kinda exists today, just not as outspoken as it was years before
When I was a kid I was so excited to have glasses until later on in the years when I'd hear some comments about how glasses look and I see media portrayed I'd ditch them eventually all together. Didn't wear or get new ones for at least 7 years. Didn't even have contacts. I'm a new adult and I'm at least somewhat confident to wear them now.
Girl it doesn’t exist now because some of us had to break the mold.
Her character made men believe they were the ones making the moves but she was 3-steps ahead 😩
She’s the reason I never want to get laser eye surgery. Glasses are my everything and I wouldn’t be me with out them, thanks Marilyn.
I love this scene, sexy and cute, so well played and edited. Davis Wayne was terrific.
While most of you are pining over Marilyn Monroe I heart warmed up more for the male actor. His character was charming, kind, friendly and sweet. Not to mention, he did an absolute gentlemanly thing by not coming on to her like a slimy git that most men act like these days. Oh God why has all the medium of class and decency dispersed to? What a shame people like that have gone extinct
There are still guys like him out there. Most guys who flirted with me don’t act slimy.
The male actor was David Wayne, one of my favorite.
I mean...both?
I’ve always had the opposite experience with women. You make it clear from the beginning your intentions are romantic
David Wayne was handsome and kind. & What a voice!!
It almost feels like she's playing a comedy character 😭 i love her dumbfounded facial expressions
And she could afford to play it, because she was one of the smartest women of all time!
This is literally a comedy
Same!
"I've never seen anyone in my whole life that reminded me less of an old maid." priceless!
She is a wonderful performer
Monroe's radiance on screen has never been equaled. With anyone else, this would have been a so so scene. But with Marilyn and the wonderful David Wayne, it still is enchanting in 2023 as it was in 1953.
Ooh Marilyn wish u lived in my era😢
Marilyn is sooooo cuuute
She was truly an angel!! She has something about her that makes you just absolutely fall in love with her!
What a cooky character, I liked this interaction it was real sweet
LOl i love her, everytime i see this movie i end up dying with laugh. She was way much more than those odious things people usually say about her. And this movie proves it. A comedian genious
I came here looking for flirting tips and "tell me some more, tell me anything" is already good enough for me!!! I'm using this on my crush tomorrow!
She's so wonderful
"Cause you're reading that book upside down". "But, I'm no such thing!". 😆😆😆 Genius, just genius.
The way she said "Oh nothing, just one of those days..." 😂😂😂😂😂
My glasses are almost like hers and im so pleasantly surprised about it 🥺
During this time of her life, she was truly magical on screen.
She was in her prime at this time . If I’m not mistaken she was 27 here .
@@MarioMartinez-tt9lyshe has nothing but prime…she died young 👀
"Then why aren't you wearing glasses?" always kills me. 😂
She was so good at comedy!
She had it all and Her voice was as a child, alone to hear Her voice is so cute. Miss Her.
Type into RUclips 'Marilyn Monroe's real voice' and you will find this is not her real voice.
Such a cute and beautiful lady! ♥️ I love Marilyn so much
I love her with the glasses on!
I agree! She looks adorable with glasses on!
Marilyn was like a baby cherub.
She's like Barbie 💕✨
truly
Melts my heart every time 💗 perfect scene 🥰
Marilyn is so cute💛。Her beauty in this film transcends times, and I cannot believe she was one year older than my deceaced father.
I love the dumbness of it all. The aircraft must be a electric Tesla.
Do you mean because it was so quiet? I've been on several seventeen hour flights and the engines were so noisy!
David Wayne ,plays an unrated sexy man! He’s straightforward , approach to handling her stigma on glasses is hilarious ❤
Stigma about glasses was real then
David Wayne! Such a good actor.
Absolutely
She doesn’t have modern beautiful features like Instagram and TikTok models, but somehow her beauty outshines all their beauty.
_She had plastic surgery just like them though. She was pretty before she did it though. When she was Norma Jean._
@@TheBlairWenchProject there’s plastic surgery and Plastic Surgery. By all means those influencers don’t even come close to Norma Jean let alone THE Marilyn Monroe.
No she was indeed pretty and innocent ❤
I love Marilyn Monroe
That was a woman, delicate, you would want to take care of her and watch her all day long. Oh my!
I want men of that period as well. They didn't complain about everything and were capable to do useful things. Oh my!
@@Denda22 What men do you know?
Love the color lipstick Marilyn Monroe was wearing and the glasses are something I would wear, also.
Ngl this scene is what gave me the confidence to wear my glasses as an entertainer. And it paid off. Every girl at my club started wearing fake glasses for a few years, there. They flooded my market lmao
Good for you! That's awesome 👌🏿!
Who ever came up with the idea, that Marilyn Monroe has to wear glasses in this movie...that person needs a star in Hollywood.
And I thought she looked good in those glasses for real. :D

Marilyn is great but i think i just fell in love with that guy. I’ll believe anything he says.
What a fabulous actress. She owned that scene.
This scene is so hilarious
That look☺☺☺marylin vintage 😊😊😘😘
Marilyn 👸🏼❤❤❤❤❤❤
And no only was she holding the book upside down, she got on the wrong plane too
The plane is bobbing lol
She is great in all her movies, the expression, the mannerism, the charisma... Why the hell she was so insecured of her performance?
I guess they had firm rules back then. The real quote my mom said was “men don’t make passes at girls who wear glasses”.
💋 She makes me laugh -
Chloe is still alive.
I really like HIS glasses
The glasses look like a butterfly 😅
The very best scene in the whole movie. The film itself is a little boring ... except when Marilyn is on screen. Her scenes are little gems of comedy.
I agree with you on this scene being the best scene in the movie!
I love herrr
She wasn't that beautiful... she was more than that
Exactly. Her soul has more magnetism.
Ooh Marilyn 💗
La más bella entre las bellas !!

Lol. House Bunny
thought the man next to her, was going to say something stupid, and shut it all down... he impressed me; and her... nice job, bro... I mean -- "Sir." Norma Jean, *you are a star;* and *strudel.*
I'm just watching this because it's funny and cute.
Same!
Why aren’t you wearing glasses? 😂
And this is text book flirting done right! Marylin's caracter here hits all the right spots when ibterracting with the male. We as women should take note

She was such a phenomenal actress

I just found out they did a lot of movies together.
