My wife and I stayed in Mactan Newtown, more precisely at One Manchester Place. I confirm that Mactan Newtown is a very pleasant place with a lot of convenience. But unfortunately when we were at Mactan Alfresco, the MegaWorld employee was very insistent on showing us the project and how we can buy a condo. My filipino wife was need to ask him to leave us alone. But overall I love this place.
An interesting video sharing, and great representation of the "Is Mactan Newtown The Future of Cebu's Luxury Living by the Sea?"! Full support & Best of luck po/Ned 👍👍
This was a fun video Rob, Alex was great! We almost stayed at Dusit Thani for part of our stay but ended up at Holiday Inn in Cebu City since it was a closer to the places we wanted to go. I wish we would have had more time to explore the Mactan area. A lot of people really love this area and I can see why.
Cheers, I wanted it to be a more laid back video. Well Holiday Inn is a great place to stay in Cebu City for sure. When the traffic is bad you can be like 40 minutes commuting from Lapu-Lapu to Cebu City.
Hi mr.Robert can't wait to see your video soon at movenpick hotel in punta engaño last march or april i guess and I am one of the receptionists who participated in your video. God bless you 😇
For four years now, I think it will be worthwhile to invest in Mactan Newtown, as tourism will also play a big role there? It doesn't matter whether you invest in one or more condos, or commercial real estate. A completely new district is being built there and in quick steps.🥰
I think it has a bright future there. I think a lot of people will enjoy living in that area. Even if you just come for a vacation and rent an airbnb there.
I have bought 2apartments in positano and with the casino coming soon I can not wait to come back. 11days vacation in cebu staying at building 8 in MACTAN.... On my last day I say I did not regret making this decision. My vacation was to come and rest but in the end I have decided to invest.
I commented on your video last week on Diniwid. Said I was at the Dinibeach restaurant. I live in Boracay Newcoast which is also a Megaworld development. Should do a video on Newcoast next time you are in Boracay. It is a great place to live.
I actually did go there, but I just check out the Savoy and Belmont only. I will be doing a comparison video soon on those too places. But yes that area looks promising. I remember actually like 20 years ago going down to that area before Mega World it looked like a nice beach. From what I remember there was an old abandoned resort there.... a far cry what it is today and what it will become.
7-11s in Philippines have similar prices to the supermarkets, albeit less of a range. It's not like Australia where 7-11s have extremely high prices. Andrew Tan of Megaworld tends to cram too many apartments onto a site: I wonder how many will have good views when everything is built? That said, overall he does a good job. One joy of travelling in Philippines is that the vast majority of hospitality staff have reasonable to excellent English, and their comprehension of what English speakers want is fine. Waitress Michaela at 21:56 was a good example: no problems with expressing herself in English at all. Whether others like it or not, English has become the de factor Esperanto. Compare this to travelling in say Malaysia or Thailand where on occasion one can have difficulty communicating, having to resort to pointing at menus.
@ “far enough back”? I hope you are correct? For me, I’d rather live close enough that I could visit the beach regularly, but I don’t need it in my backyard. One minute the water is a beautiful backdrop and the next it’s drop kicking your home. But to each their own.
I am. That area was hit by typhoon Odette a few years ago. It was one of the biggest to hit Cebu in a while. Those condos in Newtown sustained damage not from waves but the winds and debris.
All that area is getting those 5 star resorts - Shangri la, Sheraton, Dusit Thani and soon the new Abaca. I'm not sure what's going on with that Emerald Resort, looks like its fallen through (at least for the moment).
Not even necessary to live in Newtown. Mactan in general is gonna turn up side down in 5 years. Lots of development poppin up, and once the skyway and new coastal roads get done traffic will get better.
I don't so, it will hold up, there's too much demand from Asia in this part of Cebu. Particularly S Korea, they love this area. Only time will tell I guess.
@@FindingParadise Mactan 4th bridge will commence soon, which is the highest number of any southeast asian city, Penang Malaysia has only 2 bridges that connect Penanag to Gorgetown
@@FindingParadise between Tayud Consolcaion ( not far from there another International container port will be built) and Mandaue, it has to have a big space because a ramp has to be included, it will also connect to the Lapu-Lapu Expressway which will commence this year
Hope they can extend the expressway then to Liloan and bypass Mandaue as that traffic is a nightmare there! It would be great for heading to the north of Cebu from the airport!
That place actually looks cold, sterile, and soulless. Hopefully they will warm it up over time. It needs some charm and character. Presently it has none, just nice conveniences. One would think they would have at least the gravel on the beach with fine white sand but maybe that's scheduled for a future date.
I don't think it's that bad. But it is a developing area, it's still early. Its got a number of years to reach it protentional (hopefully!). And I can see it won't be everyone's cup of tea.
I love this area Sadly it is changing quickly and in my opinion will lose much of its character. Stayed at C suites a few years ago, grossly overpriced and poor facilities in it! Al fresco is a great place to eat, Starbucks of course is there but Civet is better coffee
Gday FINDING PARADISE! Another property development mate. No way! That’s how they ruin the beauty of the island. I hate condos and high rise properties. I hate to live in the high rise apt. 4 Or 5 story it’s ok. But to build gigantic building in a small island that’s how they ruin the environment of the land. If they keep building this high rise apt. It will be the next Hong Kong. Beside the locals won’t be able to afford those condos. So good luck to the developers. It will be a goes town in a few years!
Yeah for better or worse that's the way Mactan is going. There's lots of new condos/resorts that have either been built or on there way. Especially around Punta Engano area. The little guy is getting pushed out. The demand is there (at least for now) for all of this. Time will tell.
Leaving the Sunny coast for Cebu in October. Glad you made heaps of vids. So looking forward to it 👍
Cheers. Hope you have a great time

Yeah I saw a bit of that but they were ok with me. Once the area has been fully developed it will be really nice.
Great video presentation. Very interesting, indeed! Kudus to the host. Well done, Alex!
Thanks so much, glad you enjoyed it! And a special thanks Alex.

You should come over to Cebu and head out here at The Mactan Newtown and I'll be glad to give you a free tour!

I'm still waiting on the Ibiza Beach Club to re open. When it does I'll come back and finish the vlog then. Hope you are well
We've stayed at both the Belmont hotel and Savoy hotel in Newtown. Both nice hotels and the Newtown area is well designed and a nice place to stay.
I agree. I just feel the lead in rooms are a bit small, better to go for the higher category room type. Well for me anyhow.

Looks like the place to be in the coming years
Thanks for sharing this video! Would you know where in The Mactan Newtown the Landers Store will be located? Thanks!
I think it's going to be on the northern side of Newtown, closer to Mactan Shrine, but don't quote me on that!
Fabulous bar called cafe cappuccino nearby especially Friday Saturday and Sunday when there is a band on
Cheers, thanks for the info.
Cebu beaches are also Tsunami-free as it is surrounded by so many islands as well.
You just have to watch out for those typhoons!

Living so close to the beach is great until a big storm comes and washes away your home.
Those condos are far enough back. It's the winds and flying debris that will do the damage.

I think you will be hard pressed to find any quiet place in the Phils then.
