For more Terry Kath, try "Byblos", a ballad on Chicago VII, and the rocker "Once Or Twice" on Chicago X". On the latter there is an awesome sax solo by Walt Parazaider!
Didn't know Terry (opening singer) and Peter (higher vocals) switched up on Bass duty!! Awesome song. One of my favorites ❤️ Great Job Ladies!! Peace 🕊️☮️♾️😎
Hello Ladies! Chicago!! The first 7 albums are masterpieces. I was born and raised in Chicago. If you weren't a Chicago fan they kicked you out of the city!! Lol! Enjoy ladies, Chicago are an incredible band!!!👍😎
This songs was so unique to them in that, those kinda haunting backing vocals, were sung by the Beach Boys. In the video I see Carl Wilson, Mike Love, and Al Jardine singing. If you are somewhat familiar to the sound of the Beach Boys vocals , one can hear it and know it's them Surprised no one noted that.
Chicago | Wishing You Were Here ! I am really glad you are seeing this one . Terry normally plays the guitar but in this one he plays bass. Peter that plays bass is acoustic guitar and the second singer. Another song in this concert is..." Dialogue". I mention it because you can see the guitar that Terry had that people were looking for... for decades until his daughter did a film that included looking for it. ..."The Terry Kath Experience"... by a daughter that never knew her father. She was 2 when he accidentally shot himself. He had an automatic and took out the clip which was empty then put it in and the gun to his head. Forgot about the one in the chamber. The friend that was with him said his head just laid back against the couch.
Chicago and The Beach Boys. Two of some of my favorite groups. You GOTTA do The Beach Boys if you haven't already....God Only Knows, Good Vibrations, to start...
Lulu, quick info for you. Chicago IX greatest hits album has shorter version of some of the songs. Chicago II has the original longer version of some of those songs. Listen to Beginnings, Question 67 & 68 and other songs from Chicago Transit Authority album and Chicago II album. In fact, you should listen to Chicago II in its entirety because it has movements. It was definitely a masterpiece.
That is Peter , who normally plays bass, on the acoustic guitar. He is the 2nd singer. Terry switched to Bass and is the 1st singer. The Beach Boys are the backing vocals. They were touring together and it was Peter that wrote the song to take advantage of the backing vocals.
At the 2:24 mark the acoustic guitar player is their manager at the time, James William Guercio. On the STUDIO recording Terry Kath and Peter Cetera DID swap instruments. On Chicago's first number 1 song, "If You Leave Me Now" (on Chicago X), Terry Kath didn't appear at all. Peter sang lead vocals and played bass, but James William Guercio played the guitar part in rehearsal, Terry didn't care for the ballad at all, and Chicago went with Guercio's rehearsal track for the studio recording.
Terry Kath was the guy singing and yes he was a great guitar player. He tragcally died in 1978. The 2nd singer was Peter Cetera. Hes still alive but he let the band in the 80s.
Hey Lulu you said you would like SRV and Charly Pride cassete i have over 600 of them and i have one of each i can send you free if you want.I was trying to sell all of them but right now they are not in demand so if you want i can send them let me know.i have many many others.A huge music lover i am lol.
I thought the Lead Singer was Very Weak! It’s almost like he was timid and afraid to sing! I Love Chicago, however, without The Beach Boys this song would be a Bust!
I know this video very well. Remember watching on tv when I was 16. Long time ago. Great band and The Beach Boys doing backing vocals
Nothing like having The Beach Boys for backup singers!!! Can't do much better than that!!!
That was AWESOME. One of my favorites by Chicago. RIP Terry Kath. I love his deep voice.
Love this off Chicago 7. The Beach Boys on backing vocals is a nice touch!
Great reactions, love your trio of ideas and feelings about the music I so loved (70s).
That was the beach boys singing background harmonies !
Thanks for the info!
rip terry kath and carl wilson
With the Beach Boys on backing vocals.

I was raised in Arlington heights with two brothers and a sister older than me and all four of us own Chicago albums in the 70s.

Jimi Hendrix once said that Terry Kath was better than him.
He was the leed singer and guitarist of this group till he died then peter citera the blond took over as leed songer....
Donna, you're right, Terry was considered to be a great guitarist during that time. If he hadn't died prematurely, he might've gotten even better.
