I would strongly recommend a bipod. You may not want the extra weight when hunting, but for this type of shooting, it will give you a level of consistency that you cannot achieve the way the you were shooting. It will really help in determining what kind of ammo your rifle likes.
I use that same rifle in .223 for varmint hunting. Love it. Very precise on smaller red fox and raccoon without obliterating them, but I can drop a yote at distance confidently
I found out after this video that the "professional" that mounted my scope didn't level or even tighten rings properly... haven't been out since but will have much better groupings next time out.
Wow and he was a professional he shouldn't of known better, I installed mine my self this pass Saturday luck had a few small level laying around got pretty level out took it out Monday morning felt I love with the rifle savage did a fine job on this build
It's the ammo. I have a similar build.....action and barrel are Axis II XP HB in 308. I have it mounted to an MDT LSS chassis. I shoot 1" groupings with S&B 308Win SP 180gr at 200 yrds from a bench. I found PowerShok 180gr to shoot very poorly from my build......spread of 4" or more at 100 yrds.
150gr federal shock shoots really well out of the that 308, it worked well for me at 100yds. I tried 180gr Winchester power point and through the accuracy off by 4 to 5 inches.
There is a guy that makes a bolt lift kit for the axis. Make a world of difference installed one on my axis precision 2 and it make the lift action smooth. Worth every penny! Put a houge grip on it!
2:04 Your hold of the rifle is nothing short of ridiculous. It tells me that you have no idea about the marksmanship principles or the application of them. No wonder your group was so big. You need to get some training. You're not qualified to express an opinion about a rifle.
I see a lot of comparison videos from "Experts" as well as a lot of "Experts" using click bait comments to get views and many of them are so full of $h!t that I actually wont watch them because they gave away their integrity with their biased, ill conceived comparisons. This young man is giving his opinion on a rifle. He has 50 rounds through it so he has not identified a bullet weight, velocity, or even brand of ammo that shoots well in his rifle. Dont be that guy who thinks he is the arbiter of alll things that go bang. As he stated, it all starts somewhere and in time, he will improve not BECAUSE of guys like you but IN-SPITE of guys like you. You might be good enough behind the rifle, but you still need some work on your manners.

I appreciate the input! I am a novice shooter at best.
I stopped using bipods, and mostly just use a rucksack rest now. Even at the range, a ruck full of towels works great.
That's the cool thing about this video though. I like to watch people shooting from field positions, and not bags, or bipods.

I got it in 6. 5 creedmoor with a vortex crossfire 2 pre installed brand new from academy for $650 on sale, damn thing is accurate

No bench, no bipod, no sandbags, no lead sled. That not how to test the accuracy of a precision rifle or any rifle.
You think a 4" group at 100 yards is good? Oh boy....
Always shoot 100 rounds through your rifle before trying for good grouping. The barrel needs broken in and you need to know the quirks of your gun.

@@rodr686 I couldn't agree more. First time ever mounting my own scope... Fingers crossed I'll be a better shot next round
It takes somewhere around 100 rounds for the barrel to break in and start getting consistent accuracy. At least that's the recommendation from savage
Cool review. I like how you review from standard field shooting positions and not a benchrest or lead bag. Realism!!
Thanks! I appreciate that some people understand that not everyone is a pro and not everyone sits at a bench with their gun in a vice. Cheers!
Not too bad are you serious try setting up right you know a sturdy rest you're just wasting your time
No shooting bags ? Or bipod?
What kind of groups are you capable of shooting. Because if I had any rifle that shot that poorly I’d want a refund

I have one in 6.5 creedmoor. With Hornady 140 gr ammo it is sub moa. With 120 gr its spreads out to about 3 or 4 moa.

3.5 in at 100y?
That horrible.

Both in 2 different caliber

Lol facts
Man get a better bullet
Federal gold medal 168gr savage tactical 308 every hole touches 100yards and can put down anything!!!
After 100 rounds, it will be pretty tight
Some more time behind it and figuring out what ammo it likes will make some difference too
Hi welches Glas hast du drauf?
put some thoughts on your camera placement.
Pretty sure they make a left hand version also
Yikes?? where's your bench or bag rest.
Its 1100 here in canada, I want to buy it and take it hunting but I'm concerned about the weight. Maybe I'll just have to get stronger haha

Its a Vortex Crossfire 2
Thought this was the Troglys guitar show at first
4 inch groups are not to right home about, try getting g those groups at two inch at 500 yards
He’s got 50 rounds through it. It needs a few dozen more rounds to wear the barrel in.
what is this chassis called and do they make it anymore
It's just the factory chassis the rifle came with. I'm not sure what it's called or if sold separately for different rifles.
is that the diamondback 6-24 50?
It's a Vortex Crossfire 2

Wicked video!
Is it being heavy bother you? and how do you like it for hunting?
I haven't walked around in the bush all day with it yet. I did mount a bipod for prone shooting that I'll hopefully test out this week.
I wasn't able to watch the entire video, but is it actually heavy? It doesn't look it, and I thought it was aimed at being lightweight?
Is it cerakote
I'm not sure. Couldn't find on the site. www.savagearms.com/content?p=firearms&a=product_summary&s=57550
