Marie-France on the podium with Tessa: "Savour this, one day it'll be you up here" .....10 years later, they coached them to Olympic gold. What a story.
Appreciate the respectful way in which they speak about Meryl and Charlie. I agree that their rivalry pushed the sport and made it better. I believe both teams deserved their gold medals. They each had their moment when it was the right time for them.
ughh i need an interview like this in present time, about their journey till the end with the peak of 2018, also more about their partnership and relationship because they are great athletes and artists but it's amazing what they built. It's all the package that makes them the GOATS. We don't have that many interesting and insightful interviews like this with these two. I hope one day ❤
Can we have a 2018 edition of this interview??? I want a play-by-play history of the Moulin Rouge routine that I can't stop watching for the life of me......
As it stands right now, Ice Dancing is the most exciting of all the skating disciplines this season and perhaps the Olympics as well? The choreographies are beautiful, athletic and so artistic and the schmaltz is gone. So exciting.
LOVEEEEEEEE!!!!! Laughed out loud many times. They seem like wonderful people on and off the ice. And I do secretly hope they end up together in the end hehe thank you so much for this! :D
Thank you so much for this interview, I absolutely loved it! Definitely my favourite interview of Tessa and Scott, your questions were on point and it was so good to hear more 'unfiltered' answers from them, especially Scott (who's also pretty hilarious!)
A new interview with them now post 2018 Olympics would be so wonderful!! I would love to hear their perspective/comparison on competing against P/C vs D/W and what they had planned and where they were emotionally for their 'retirement' post-PyeongChang compared to where they were post-Sochi!
I loved watching this even well after the fact - fantastic interview! They were so natural and honest. I remember an interview snippet where Tessa said they are always saying "we" whether they were together or not. It cute to hear them in this interview do that too.
Tessa's look to Scott at 1:40 says - "oh, yea, we had some moments" - really adorable. She mentions "speed and power" - and edges, are what differentiate them from most others. Amazing that they won 2010 Olympics when she was still injured, and in constant pain - Tessa on the podium could barely stay in her skin - so cute. This is a great way to see them in a fairly unstressed environment - pretty honest and down to earth. I still, as a senior citizen, find it impossible to see them not becoming a family unit - this vid is long before their Korea win, and their responses to each other, and interaction appears to be totally loving. Watch at 52:01 when he embraces her and becomes somewhat subdued. Very disappointing that they will not live life together. This is a wonderful interview - very happy to see it.
Why do you say they will not live life together? They are very private people and we don't really know their real status. If you've been watching some videos taken by fans during their tours, there's no denying they're in a relationship, despite claims of some fans. Action speak louder than words. :p
Scott is such a treat to watch on the ice his movements are just perfectly executed and when he wears a complete black outfit it accentuates his movements better which is a treat to watch him. Then he also has to contend with all that lifting while seeing he stays upright on the ice he obviously takes the brunt of the strain of their performance.
I came across this interview today and it's so good! I always love Tessa and Scott cause the seem so relatable and easy-going as people, but what stroke me was the amout of job you, Dave, put to build this insightful interview. Thaks!
Tessa and Scott are sheer perfection on and off the ice! Love them solo much! I can't wait for this falls skating & the Olympics!!! Much love, Julie Norvell USA but ALL CANADIAN WHEN TESSA & SCOTT ARE ICE DANCING!!!!!
This interview is so so great! You asked them such specific, thoughtful, and knowledgable questions that I feel like a we saw a different and more honest side of them. It would be so incredible if you could do another interview with them now, post Pyeongchang!!
Me, too! I mean, after reading this transcribed Czech radio program, where the announcer called them husband and wife. I don't care if they don't ever announce it, as long as they are married, I'm good with it. LOL
You just killed it here, Dave...really knocked it out of the park!! Such a nice balance with thoughtful and well-researched probes and letting their authentic personalities really shine through. Plus, I always like your humility in your interviews, and how you really listen to the interviewees' responses. Nice work!
fantastic interview, thanks to all 3 of you for sharing with us, thanks to dave for being able to connect so well with the skating community and get these genuine detailed interviews out there. It definitely the best interview out there with these two by far.
Loved this interview. I like how you played the second half of their 2011-2012 GPF free skate. Remembering when Scott was a bit outspoken about their scores during the GP and the Final, then they changed the beginning of the free dance and started to win. Funny Face is one of my favorite free dances from them.
Finally had the time to watch this full, this has got to be the best interview with them yet, kudos to you and it didn't even bother me that you brought up the dating question in the end
wow Scott roaring at the beginning of 2013 Worlds FD is hilarious! Also goes to show how level-headed Tessa is in contrast, I think I would have crumbled to the ice laughing if I were in Tessa's shoes (skates?)
Thank You so much, I am so grateful for your channel and your amazing work. I live in a country without figure skating so this channel is a blessing yo me! Amazing Job! I love your interviews send a hug to Jenny she is missed! :)
Very good interview, however in the future just focus on the interviewee rather than the interviewer. Dave's face zooms in and out during his interview. So distracting. Scott's and Tessa's faces were cut in half most of the interview. Good job Dave!
Thank you for this great interview! It's only a shame that Tessa has been cut out almost completely. Could you upload a version of their interview with only a video of the two of them? That would be awesome :)
It's really unfortunate that this guy didn't notice that the camera on V/M's end was aimed at Scott's left ear, essentially cutting Tessa out of the picture. It significantly diminishes the impact of an otherwise excellent interview.
So, I am not sure if I discussed this earlier in the comments, but this isn't a camera thing. There is no way to tell how skype will chop the video when it is filming. We set up the camera shot with them both in the shot at the beginning and then one of both of them moved slightly, which causes one of them to be cut out. it is one of the big challenges when interviewing two people. I would much rather not be on camera at all and show them both, but there is not a way to correct it. Sometimes, Jonathan will move after we start filming and it will look like one of us is higher or lower than the other. Jenny used to train me never to move for this very reason.
Hi Dave. I watched this interview months ago and I wanted to watch it again, but it is muted due to copyright. Is it possible to get it reuploaded? It was a fantastic interview and it would be a shame if more people couldn`t see it. Looking forward to the worlds recap. :)
Scott look like he is somewhere else. Video not really interesting to follow because of him. Why do we get to see only Hollande of Tessa ans Scott. But such a good interview.
Yes they have been living like a married couple at least for the last ten years. They are careful about the sex because that can break their ice dancing partnership. They are the best of friends and thats what they cannot find with someone else.
I was a big fan of them until they returned. I liked their grand style, high quality of skating, great taste in choosing music, their elegance and sophistication. But the truth is that it was not they, it was Marina and Igor. I think their return was a commercial project, all these 4 levels, high goes with not such a good shape. And their music choice, she suddenly became vulgar, she dances with face, not with partner and music. Scott was so elegant and light, but he became heavy, bulky, and clumsy. Their gold on wc 2017 is shameful and ridiculous. Looking at them, I feel nothing but shame.
Found the papadakis/cizeron fan. Go back to eating your pain au chocolat and stop whining, no one cares. VM deserved that win, PC’s short dance was sloppy
I couldn't disagree more. Yes, their style changed, but they wanted it to. They wanted to push themselves and see what they could do and how they could move differently. Their skating skills improved so much when they came back and they skated with more passion and power for sure. They are the best in the world and will always be legends in the sport.
@@laura8694 It doesn't work that way. It is impossible to improve your skills without training for two years. If it is possible, then you could pump up your abs or buttocks while sitting on the couch. It is impossible to improve your skating skills by performing on shows from time to time. I don't care about their passion and other bullshit. They started skating worse, harder, and their first place at the 2017 World Cup is a shame for the sport. He fell on the step track and the Canadian judge gave him +3. They skated so dirty, so hard, and all their steps were not worth more than a second level. But the Canadian federation led an aggressive policy in ice dance and everything became possible.
Marie-France on the podium with Tessa: "Savour this, one day it'll be you up here" .....10 years later, they coached them to Olympic gold. What a story.

agreed!

Love this !! Scott is so relaxed and himself especially when said”piss off!”😆Tessa is also so relaxed and wonderful 💜
I'm so glad Tessa and Scott came back to the 2018 Olympic and won the Gold. Thank you for interviewing both and posting on RUclips.
