More replays of Gobou's Asuka - 最強の飛鳥 (The strongest Asuka), is always welcome. However, this does not indicate that Gobou has decided to play Asuka as one of his mains -- because when Gobou pondered if using Asuka had "deteriorated his fighting game skills - for better or for worse," a viewer suggested that perhaps he should just casually play Asuka - and he appeared to come to an accord on that. Additionally, with the overwhelming support Gobou's Asuka gameplay receives from the Asia FGC, Gobou had decided to finally use Asuka during the GGCL (Guilty Gear Champions League) vs. Team Roy; I watched the event on Daru_I-No's stream, where Daru was on a Discord call with Nage, Yuu, and tights -- and when Gobou picked Asuka against Roy's Sol, Nage and Yuu said, "Asuka..?!" Because it is very well-known in Asia that Gobou essentially dropped Asuka for the time being. Now I won't spoil the results of the Gobou vs. Roy matches, but Nage, Daru, and FAB's stream archives from a few days ago feature those matches. Regarding this replay: Interestingly enough, from my understanding, the only team that Team FAB (which Gobou is a part of) has not fought yet, is Team Takehara - which consists of Takehara (Ram), -Nidaime (Jack-O')- TY (Gio/Slayer), tatuma (Sol), and Yamashita/Kitajima (Chaos); and Kitajima is the same Chaos player featured in this replay; a theory of mine, is that these matches are just a precursor to the GGCL event, and Gobou will probably use Asuka if he has to face Kitajima - because Chaos is one of A.B.A's hardest match-ups - while it is just a disadvantageous match-up for Asuka - probably around 6:4 -- not as hard as Faust, I-No, Johnny, Chipp, Sin, or the Bridget match-up, or unwinnable like the Axl match-up; so definitely doable. He could also be preparing to use Asuka again (hopefully as a main) in the event that he only receives minor nerfs in the upcoming major balance patch in October. Only time will tell, as the final GGCL event is scheduled on 9/21/24 at 2100 JST... Sorry for the lengthy post, but I sincerely appreciate those of you who decided to read it until the very end.
@@popeneiad7968My apologies for the lack of clarity in my post, those match-ups I mentioned, aside from Chaos, was in reference to Asuka's bad match-ups. Moreover, at the highest level - where both players are of equal skill and match-up knowledge - Axl vs. Asuka is widely considered Axl's best match-up by both top Axl and Asuka users; and due to the fact that Axl's 5P invalidates Asuka's entire kit, along with 2P and 2HS ensuring the Asuka player cannot not even attempt to use 2D to even get started, it is considered "impossible" or "unwinnable;" as all of the gaps in Asuka's pressure can be interrupted with 6P > into an attack (if close enough), or 5P/2P if far away enough; and then the Asuka player has to spend the entire round trying to get in again - getting completely outranged in the process. I understand that you dislike Asuka - which is your prerogative - but Axl/Asuka being possibly the worst match-up in the game is not an exaggeration -- as even Trevor Tsu, often regarded as the best Axl player in NA, said that Asuka *"is not even a character vs. Axl"* - because it is just that comically difficult of a match-up... if I disliked Asuka and played Axl, then I would probably love fighting Asuka users, considering how much they would struggle -- but more than likely, I would just end up feeling bad for them...
That is typical for Gobou, considering how fast he is with shuffling Asuka's spells -- which is why you often see him throwing out lv. 4-5 RMS Boost Metron.
This is one of those matches were you can definitely tell these two play against each other a lot.
