I've been to the baseball hall of fame and have seen the section for the women's league. Its quite inspiring. Not a bad comparison of movie to real life. I think its just easier for them to create a character and set it in the time than to try to dig up one person's entire story for a movie. I think they had them pitch overhand in the movie to just signify what it became in a short time and it did show them teaching the ladies how to pitch overhand in the tryout montage. Its ok if it isn't 100% historically accurate, its still a good movie in my opinion, and very well made. An underrated classic

FYI: the scenes of the tryouts were in fact shot in Wrigley Field. You can tell from the ivy on the outfield wall. Great movie.

Well done, thank you! My son and I enjoyed listening and the many comparisons to money yesterday versus today as well as the comparison of the male versus the female's averages. Nice historical perspectives. Unfortunate the sexism that took place, but these women I am sure loved playing ball.

You talked way too much about stuff that had nothing to do with the movie. I lost interest 5 minutes in.

If you'd continued to listen you'd learn that everything the episode has something to do with either the movie or the true story in history. :) But thank you for giving it a shot!

You're judging the 1940s by 2021 standards. Disappointing.

Guess black women didn't want to play

Quincy Lockett they did. They claim black women weren't as good. A few tried out and didn't make it.

They didn't want black women to play because of segregation, just like black service members at the time were treated as inferior despite proving otherwise.
