To sum it up, Taylor weaponized her fanbase to harass Scooter's entire family & the artists that were signed to him at the time because she wasn't happy with a business deal. She manipulated her fans into re-purchasing the exact same albums so that she could become a billionaire while pretending to fight for artists' rights. Because of what Taylor did, record labels have made it even harder to artists to re-record their music & she hasn't said a damn thing about it.
Furthermore, Taylor's team came up with the concept for the Eras Tour way before Scooter was even interested in buying Big Machine, so she's still lying when she claims that she turned that "painful situation" into the Eras Tour. Scooter's reputation probably won't ever recover from this.
Scooter should sue her back into millionaire status for defamation.

As an almost 40 year old woman who has a degree in International Business Administration, I never understood why Taylor was seen as a victim when that deal happened. It is literally Business 101. But then I remembered that Taylor Swift has the "right" esthetics to play the perpetual victim role.

They never offered her a deal to buy them back, they Did offer her a deal to earn them back, by signing her rights to six more albums and then she’d get her first six masters, but not the masters for the new six albums she wrote. I wouldn’t have taken that deal. Also, she didn’t trust Braun, and whatever anyone thinks about it, he was likely the VERY LAST person Taylor would have ever wanted to do business with, much less have him get any money off her hard work. Also Braun went and sold her masters immediately to a private equity firm for $300 million, so please tell me how he suffered?
Taylor’s father owned a very small percentage of Big Machine, and Andrew needs to look at corporate governance laws work before he speaks about things that are well above his pay grade.

The record industry has been predatory for decades. I’m not even a “Swiftie” but I’ll never side with the corporate executives like Scooter. There are so many great artists that they’ve leached off of in the past and continue to do so with alternatives like Spotify etc.
Apologies, I don't disagree, but, imagine a industry without music execs, how would that look, hell, how would that even happen?
There will always be gatekeepers that can be blamed for something. Never the artists fault for what they signed, they sold their soul and then later try to paint it differently, it was a bad contract, why sign it.
It's not as innocent as the men claim. There were definitely a lot of (bad) politics and personal feelings involved. I think Scott Borchetta intentionally gave her bad terms on the big machine deal and as payback for her leaving sold the masters to Scooter Braun, knowing that it would cause her emotional distress.

Scooter Braun offered to work with her or even fall back if she wanted to purchase them. Big machine showed scooter the message where Taylor declined the offer for her masters. So he purchased them. Scooter was never in the wrong. None of her issues were business. He worked with Kanye and Justin beiber. Beiber showed a picture with Kanye and scooter. Beiber created issues between them. Scooter never did anything bad to her directly. She played victim when she wasn’t one in this situation. When scooter sold the masters to Disney. He offered her the masters again. In return, they don’t speak of eachother . She weaponized her fans with a lie. So he was trying to stop that. She then posted (acting as a victim again) he’s trying to silence me for my masters. She’s a snake 🐍

The biggest issue I see is that if an artist wants their masters the label knows they’re at an advantage. From the timeline it looks like she tried to negotiate, they tried to keep her indebted to them with having control of new masters, she declined.
Then I think she likely went to her new label, came up with the plan to have them buy her masters. That deal would have been more of a level ground. I suspect they figured that out and Scott sold to scooter in part because he was pissed. It’s also possible he was simply angry she left his label because it’s almost entirely her success that gives it its value. It’s a huge loss. People can be very petty.
In the end Taylor proved she can also play those games.
I hate how people say it’s just business but then villainize her for operating with better PR and a stronger strategy. Sucks that there isn’t any heart in the industry.

Second of all she wrote the songs (and always had her royalties for that), but she recorded them in a studio they paid for, with musicians and producers they paid for, and then they put marketing and promotional dollars behind it so her undeniable talent could reach as big an audience as possible and for that they rightfully get a piece of that pie. Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't the "opportunity" for Taylor to buy her own masters attached with a clause that she also has to sign an additional 10 years with them or to whoever buys the label. So she can only buy them as long as she stays another 10 years and so the label will own rights to whatever song/album she puts out within those 10 years. I think her and her team were still trying to find a way to negotiate a way for her to buy her masters without having to sign with the label

That's not how it works. An artist is signed to a label to make music for the label not for the artist themself. The music belongs to the label with a guaranteed buy back clause under certain conditions. It would have been nice if scooter spoke to her but he didn't have to. Scooter brawn and Scott Borchetta did do it wrong, but the one who really truly betrayed her was Scott Borchetta. Also, her dad got a cut because he owned a steak in the company, but that doesn’t mean that he had any buying or selling or powerful decisions to make in a company. My parents own stock in Walmart and a few other businesses, but they don’t get called into meetings with corporate. That’s exactly what happened with her dad Scott Swift. No they did not offer her a way to buy them back. They said “you can have one of your old albums back if you give us a brand new one each time.” Just go look at Taylor’s Tumblr post about this. I came across this & went straight to the comments section to see if there were any Swifties retaliating & leaving hateful comments for you Guys.
She has a lot of scary fans who are very loyal, who will attack anyone who even utters TS’s name or has any disagreements with her.
Example; Katy Perry, she got dragged through the mud by Swifties especially after the song ‘Bad Blood’ came out.
Which was very triggering for me. I disliked it because it was very mob mentality. TS with her supermodel squad leaving subliminal messages for KP & glorifying bullying behavior.
I had a Swifty come for me when all I simply said was, ‘as a fan of Nikki Glaser’s I want to hear about her not TS’ (in every interview she always has a TS story attached to it) I was saying that she already has fans that she got on her own merits for just being her. I don’t think I said anything malicious about TS but someone saw that comment & made a RUclips account with a TS profile pic & user name to just reply to my comment. Talk about dedication 🫣😳😵💫
