McLeodGanj observed fairly less damage than other himachal towns, its better to skip monsoon otherwise you need to compromise with few things like sightseeing due to road closures.
@ The way you said sounds like Dharamkot is not reachable by auto. Dharamkot is a smallll village and is reachable by auto. Once you are inside the village, please walk a little and enjoy the nature.
