After seeing many Clones of the Amok Dramur saturate my amazon feed I thought it only fair to review one to see if it was as bad as I was expecting.
Regardless on how you stand on the ethics of chinese clones it is never good to be sold a lemon.
This review was to try and illustrate the costs reputable companies incur to bring quality products to you.
Wild camping and hammock camping can be expensive but there are budget options as well as diy option out there to get you started. Don't be fooled into splashing out hard earned money for cheap trash.

Not defending a sh** product but you are supposed use a Matt with air chambers that run longways to help with support
I did a bit research and although pads with tubes running length ways are better the amok works with both. No support at either end. A bit of ply may help
I have the same hammock, tried it with a long ways sleep mat, its still totally useless, i asked for my money back, and got a full refund.. And was told to keep the hammock as to return it to china would be troublesome. I might do i vid if i can be botherd to modify it

I have an Amok and they are very well made, " got to be to carry this overburdened lump!"
One thing I did notice on the knock off mate is the air pad seems to have the baffles going the wrong way ! On an original Amok they say to use air pads that have baffles that run the length and not across. This is to give it structural strength and I use an Exped mat, and it works very well.
Having said that, the one your lady wife so elegantly demoed does look like a proper bit of dross. There is another one you might want to take a butchers at bud. The Haven tent Hammock, looks like a mighty fine bit of kit and I was looking at getting one, " Cost a bit mind you". But again I don't mind paying for quality, however again there is already a knock off item out which also looks to be a proper bit of dross. Good helpful video mate thanks for sharing.
Been tried with both pads and is useless. I bought this knowing it'd be shite in the hope the vid would stop others buying the same

I have a clone , though mine seems to be of better quality than this one and actually works as expected, i can even use it without a mattress, came with medium quality strapping and crap carrabenas. Came with no instructions and straps weren't even connected up. Took about 5 mins to figure out how to do the straps and set ridgeline, quality of fly net was okay but the Finish all-round needs work. I definitely would consider the original now i have this, i am just glad i never ended up with the version you have.

@@Nobby77 only hammock camp twice always slept on ground the wee hammock i got i think east anglian bush craft uses it agree knock offs waist of money i am a jock just bought a karrimor fellman 40 bergan from charity shop for 4 pound 70s 80s style it will become my wee wood land bergan wife laughs at me 😁

Try a different pad the air baffles are the wrong way to support the weight it might help, if someone is on a budget! My amok cost me £450 but worth every penny

The amoks quality is much better, however you are using the wrong mattress, and I believe what you are experiencing for a lay would not be like that if the baffles were vertical...
Possibly but there is zero support at head or legs, as you can still bend pads with long baffles I cant see it having a different outcome. I did watch AMOKS vid demonstrating a variety of pads including one similar to the one I used and all worked. The quality of this thing is terrible. I'd avoid at all costs

The air mattress air cubes are ment to be going long ways not across.. I have a amok and it will not work with that kind of air bed.

To my shame I have a couple of Chinese tents. They are pretty good and cheap, but knockoffs none the less. Someone spent some time and money getting them right and Chinese companies have stolen their IP. I suppose buying this gear is akin to supporting video piracy. But it is worse than that. I'm Australian and our priminister suggested that there should be an independent inquiry into the origins of covid19. Or export industries have been punished by China in retaliation. A Chinese business man a step removed from the CCP tweeted that they should launch missiles on Australian cities. No more knock off gear for me.

I got a full refund and made a vid saying it was utter shite. Gave a long spiel about why things cost what they cost. Fail to see how I made anything worse.
@@Nobby77 yeh fair one if you sent it back but you should know never to buy knock-offs. The guys at amok are constantly fighting the fakes sellers and fake Instagram adverts for them, using there likeness without consent and trying to make money off their hard work. Not like you got a real one since to show the true quality
Did you even watch the vid?. The whole point of it was to stop people buying fakes. I won't be buying an amok in the near future as they are too pricey in my opinion and pack size isn't the best.
