Dr. Mark that's why there are mostly a self check out line and many shoppers just steal them groceries by not scanning them. Worst way to shop. By the way don't forget 1 hour massage here in TX USA can cost over $100

Isn't that absolutely crazy what's going on in the states right now with people just walking in the stores filling up shopping carts and walking out I just can't understand how far society has fallen down......
I honestly cannot imagine what it would be like to live like that....
Massages in Canada are at least $120 an hour....

Brigitte L Jones. Here in an Australian supermarket you' d be paying around $15 for the chicken breasts, juice at least $5, milk $2, oranges $4, bulk eggs $9, a total of aud $35. So convert aud $35 to usd which is usd $22.85. More than double the price! If you got a few tropical fruits and various vegetables the cost could be 3 times as much in Australia after converting to usd.

Thanks Mark for pertinent, interesting content.
In North Carolina USA, Mark's equivalent grocery items, including yellow potatoes, would cost ~$24, before 7% sales tax, at WalMart (cheapest grocery chain around most parts). 2x18 large eggs are ~$6, so $5 for 30. Chicken breasts are ~$2.70/lb vs $0.94/lb in Nanjing so nearly 3X as expensive here. Oranges are $5-7 for 5 lb bag depending on type/quality. In more affordable areas of USA food is perhaps 2-3X as costly as a major Chinese city. I believe there is greater cost disparity in housing, health care and automobiles/transportation between N America and SE Asia. Food cost is comparatively trivial - I spend more than twice as much on health insurance than food.
Booze is generally cheaper in USA than TH. A case of 24x12oz beers is ~$15-$19 before tax. I rarely buy beer but I'm always stunned when some Pataya/BKK/Phuket YTer is showing how cheap beer is at only 65 baht, which is 2-3X as costly as the 15-20 brands of beer sold at WalMart. Heineken, one of the most expensive, works out to only 48 baht at the current exchange rate in 12 fl oz bottles. Guinness Extra Stout (one of my favorites) is 65 baht per 11 oz bottle, sold only in the more costly 6-pack. I guess booze has to be cheap in USA with median home price of $400K, motor vehicles $60K, and median household income (2 or more people per year) $70K.

    • @whyhellotherewithdrmarksabean
      @whyhellotherewithdrmarksabean  4 месяца назад

      Thanks for sharing with us,,,,
Yes food is definitely 2-3x more expensive in the USA than here in China,,,, but it almost 3-4x more in Canada!!!
As for beer and booze being cheaper in the The States,,,, compared to Thailand and many other countries here in South East Asia,,,, you're 💯 correct,,,,,, but this video is in China and booze here is way WAY cheaper than in the US.....
As for housing,,,,, you cannot imagine the cost of a condo here....
In Shanghai is a Million+ foa a basic unit..... here in Nanjing it is less but still crazy expensive.....
There are lower priced cars for sure if you want to drive one,,,, that's up to you
I can tell you in my condo complex parking garage we have 4 Maclarens 7 Lambos 3 Ferraris several Rolls Royce Phantoms a couple drop top coupes not to mention 5 Mercedes SLRs.......
      8 G63 Wagons..... G63 .....not the bargain basement G-Wagon.....
      Perhaps 30 or 40 BMW M3s and M4s......
      3 Aston Martins.....
      Yeah.....
And health care here is super affordable.....
But ya can still go out and enjoy yourself at a top tier restaurant and club eat and have drinks for less than $100 for a couple.......

The other day I went to Walmart. I bought a half gallon of milk. It was $6. I bought four cans of Guinness and that was $11. I bought a six pack of some kind of IPA that was $12.
I prefer to drink my food these days. Yeah, the costs of groceries in the US especially last year was astronomical. I am giving up my home. My car. My very expensive e-bike, a lot of stuff that I acquired through the years. All sold at bargain basement prices in the last couple weeks. Tomorrow I turn my motorhome in to a repair shop that will then send it to the consignment place when it's finished. I stand to lose quite a lot of money on that deal. Same with my car. I'm going to lose some money there too. And I don't care because I'll make it all up living in Thailand. It may take a while but the cost of living there compared to the cost of living here is no comparison.

Here's the thing though I never bought a single thing that I couldn't afford I didn't buy anything on credit I didn't have to go get a car loan for anything ever in my lifetime..,
If I couldn't pay for it in cash I didn't buy it....
