No. This is a "universal motor" and will work with either AC or DC. He has connected the field windings in series with the armature. It could also be wired in parallel (also known as shunt connected).

I have a white brown yellow , yellow/green stripe coming out the motor and there's yellow blue red , green/yellow stripe
