Disney might be overpriced with standards that are slipping but they know how to do immersion. This is an amazing area and well documented 4K 😊

For a land with only two rides, I really have to give props to Disney for the theming. Very nice design--great sight-lines, background is perfect. A lot of people have complained that it isn't based on any specific place in the canon, but I like the look and feel here. A lot more than the hotel..........
I agree, Disney went all out on the immersion and theming for this land and that’s something I can really appreciate
It does feel like Star Wars. And to be fair, how would one design a land based on any of the existing locations? You could do Mos Eisley maybe… or Corusxant, but that’s too big. Naboo? The problem is, we don’t stick with many Star Wars locations very Long and those we do revisit are often quite expansive.
By comparison Harry Potter always has Hogwarts, Diagon Alley, the Express and Hog‘s Mead. Middle Earth has a similar problem, but at least has The Shire as a place where practically everyone would want to stick around.
I’m a disabled veteran and this is as close as I’ll ever get to seeing this place. Thanks for the video.
I'll be heading here (and to the USA) for the first time in July 2024. This is the one I'm looking forward to the most.
IMHO, there's not a more well-themed land in any U.S. theme park (can't speak for Tokyo). The Imagineers really knocked it out of the galaxy here! Thoroughly enjoyed taking in all the details you focused on in this one. Thanks 4k!

I never realized how large Galaxies Edge was!!
From an artistic perspective, the land is absolutely incredible. Went to WDW for thr first time this summer and I have never seen something like Galaxys edge: the details, the rendering, the props. It's just amazing. However, I believe that the land has two big shortcomings: i) the lack of background music make some places feel "dead" or too quite; ii) the land also needs much more entertainment and character interactions to make the place truly alive.

I like all the little details included in this land. I wonder what's going to happen to the Galactic Starcruiser entrance to the land? Maybe that table service restaurant proposed near Olga's will get built. Great walk-through 4K!
Yea, I like that idea! I’d be fine for them to make Galaxy’s edge even bigger and expand using the hotel area, instead of destroying Muppets Courtyard like others suggest. Thank you as always Andrew! 😃

First.
T-18 days (but who’s counting)
Unfortunately, only 1 day at MGM (the proper name for this park). First time going to Fantasmic in 5 yrs.
But will probably spend 3 hrs just in Star Wars “Land”.
Very curious to see what happens with the star cruiser hotel after it shuts down.
I’m sure millions of people still think of MGM when it comes to this park, and Disney probably hates that😂 You will definitely spend at least a couple hours or so at Star Wars, there really isn’t any way around that lol. I also wonder what will happen to the hotel. Maybe they’ll build the originally planned “Great Muppet Movie Ride”and connect to Muppets Courtyard(I know I’m crazy lol)
So it’s a Star Wars themed shopping mall… got it
That is mostly what the parks are, you pay for the ticket then go in and spend more money lol.
Ah, one of if not the most immersive lands at WDW (I see and love you Pandora, my favorite of WDW lands,…but with the intentional characterization by all cast members on Batuu…it does beat you). A word of warning for any who have sensory processing concerns…this land can overwhelm (and did me on my first visit…having to grab the arm of my friend with me and tell him to “get me out of here” before a meltdown set in…4K, that was Steven, you met with me last year in September…but happened on first visit just weeks after Batuu opened in 2019).
Best advise when you visit Batuu: Give yourself to the story! Don’t just passively observe…but even as you walk thorugh, be a part. I love all you have captured here, 4K!! (btw…seems like more people than usual were taken aback by your height…visibly reacting on camera 😆 maybe no one has any filters after being out in the heat all day leading up to the time you were capturing this…goodness knows I sure didn’t have any filters in the later afternoons, weekend before last!! 😮)
I agree Rick, the immersion here with the cast member interactions beats Pandora in that regard! Attempting to be a part of the story while on Batuu definitely is the best way to experience the land. Haha I try my best not to focus on others looking at me while filming now, so I didn’t even notice most of the guests staring at me😂 Thanks so much as always Rick!

🪐Ever since you've been allowed to freely walk in the shop area, you have to admit, they did good job with these holes in the wall. Food & star cruisers hanging from the ceiling, nice. They need to pivot quicker for changing over the hotel. Again, HS now has more unused real estate that should be reimagined. What worries me is how some ultra-Star War fans have been making noise for axing the Muppets area and expanding Batuu which makes no sense considering the hotel is/will b empty. You know the saying about squeaky wheels. Anyway, nice to see during the late afternoon..💜
oh…the cries to eliminate The Muppet Courtyard ! 🥺 (Rick sets his soapbox in front of him and steps up on it) The issue is missing the understanding of the lack of disconnect between Star Tours and Batuu…Batuu…you are dropped right in the middle of the story…Star Tours, you enter the story from a movie set (Disney didn’t just "cheap out” on the AT-AT and trees…they are meant to be movie props/fronts with no attention to the backs that would not be on camera). The perceived disconnect (and I have complained as well when I was less informed) that Star Tours is not adjacent to Batuu just shows a lack of understanding of the origin of DHS…that it was at one time in the past a working movie studio with a theme park front. I love that one of my favorite ‘90s movies, Oscar, was filmed there at least in part to remind me of that history. (Rick steps down from his soapbox, picks it up and quickly retreats, knowing he has ruffled at least a few feathers) 😜
@@rwbashaw66 ....they aren't so much misinformed, just feeling that an area that is underwhelming should be eliminated and just taken over. It sounded like there is no caring if the 2 meet. (I'm short & always carry my soapbox so much so my name is on it☺)

This land has grown on me over the last couple of years and I do enjoy looking through all the shops! I’ll always be against them destroying the Backlot entirely, but I do really appreciate how heavily themed and detailed this land is all around. If they ever touch Muppets Courtyard to expand this land, I would be truly devastated and I’m not even kidding lol. Thanks so much Liz😊

Went to the one at Disneyland and I got to ride rise of the resistance for the first time. It was a 90 min wait but still worth it. I also got to ride smugglers run in 2021.
I really need to slow down next time at Galaxies Edge. You do such a great job finding the details in every place! I usually just glance as I’m going by, but from now on I’m going to take my time and try to see everything in there. There’s so many references to the original Trilogy’s which are so amazing. It always brings me back to going to the theater in 1977 and I’ve been a fan every since! Thanks for another outstanding video!!
There really are so many details in every area of the land! Between the rides, shops and just looking for details, you can spend a few hours here easily! Thank you very much as always😃

I always thought Disney had a huge missed opportunity, in that they should have had a special area marked out where you could be in a certain number of groups and fight Stormtroopers in a laser tag type environment. They could have made the battle scene from Hoth, or Endor.
Also, the ride technology was there. They should have taken those same elements from Rise of the Resistance and turned it into a Men In Black or Buzz Lightyear type ride like they did with Spider-Man and that Toy Story ride where you have to shoot at targets and stuff, because Rise is basically an escape and evade ride, but when I think of Rise, I think of having to fight things.
Imagine the elements of that ride, which is still a cool ride, but you have to shoot at Troopers, and ships and stuff like that. I just think Disney missed the boat on the interactive stuff they are so bent on doing with their Parks, that they should have done something along the lines of that.

Great videos but it’s just a shame the saturation is always set to the max.
I went here today, used the individual lane and got on the Smugglers run in 10 minutes. Now, getting on the Resistance ride took 45 minutes to the pre-show and then 10 minutes to the ride. I’ve been here since Monday and today was the last of a 4-day park hopper. You can average 18-20,000 steps if you go to two parks. Monday was AK and Tue - MK, Wed- Epcot, Th- Hollywood and Epcot
Next week at work, I’ll need a vacation from my vacation 😅😂

Compared to how the price's were back in 2015, I'm guessing that it takes a year worth of paychecks to visit Disneyland these days. I visited Knott's Berry a lot more growing up during the 90's. I remember when California's Adventure opened in 2000, that is a really cool place. I watched a video workshop on building your own lightsaber, looks pretty interesting. They should have a training room where people can practice their lightsaber skills, that'd be pretty badass. What Star Wars Galaxy's Edge area needs now is a Mack Rides roller coaster with 4 inversions. I'm thinking the ride could be themed to Podracing, Naboo Starfighter, Anakin's Speeder Chase or the X-Wing. I would definitely go for Podracing, I could see them adding a desert themed roller coaster sometime in the near future, with Mack Rides being the one to build it.

Imagine this land and the Star Cruiser base on the original trilogy- it would have been booked straight for a decade; a generation of people that have the highest level of discretionary income in human history all lived as children/young adults during the original release. Product-market fit people!!!

They wanted to update Disney Hollywood studios more. The backlot tour was kinda misleading as Disney mainly produce films in California.
They need to changed that X-wing to a rebels version as the rebels version is better, and put the Slave 1 instead of Kylo rens ship, and the rise of the resistance ride should be re imagine into a clone wars ride where you board a republic Star destroyer for a tour, but you get attacked by the separatists so you need to get three to escape to safety. First order characters should be removed and bring in George Lucas characters and tv series characters too.

This actually give's me motivation NOT to visit or give $$ to Micky! Half the tourists are obese, weak & soft, ... while half the employees have that "I want to kill you" look on their face. I never understood why id want to stand in line for 2 hours for a 90 second ride experience. ... BTW ... around 23 minutes in, that 4K tool actually walked into that alleyway where that overpriced Galactic Starship / Startours / Starcruiser whatever ... used to enter & exit with that Golden ticket tourists ... until it went out of business. Now it's filled with 'fat Jawas' if you notice.
