There are pull-down TV mounts that you can use above the fireplace! It's called the Mantel Mount I believe. My husband and I had the same issue in our last place where the fireplace would push the TV too high up, but the pull-down mount totally solved the issue for us! Hope this helps :)
WOW i did not know that was a thing! definitely will consider this
I have one myself, game changer! Highly recommend!
I was just about to suggest this too! That was our solve with having a fireplace.
While also not watching Tv you can turn it a frame above the fireplace.
2:19 No one asked but I would suggest swapping the positions of the monstera and the shelving system in the dining room. You have a lot of counter space and storage in the kitchen already, with the shelves so close to the bar/counter it looks a little cluttered. I think the monstera could break up that space well, and the shelving system could be more useful closer to the dining table. Love your channel hope I’m not annoying!
ooo i will definitely try that! thank you :)
update: i just tried it and since the shelving system sticks out it ends up blocking part of the sliding door/window sadly
There is so much change happening in a living space that it makes it hard to say one is fully done, as you live daily, you'll find what works best for you. I do love however the placement of the corner couch by the window where the leaf rug is at, it looks picturesque and cozy!
Not sure if i'd explain this the best but I would move the couch away from the wall and forward more creating a 2nd walkway, you're couch is closer to the fireplace, then I would mount the TV to the left of the fireplace but with a arm that comes out and then turns so the TV isn't the main object in the room.
I love that you are all cooking together. It seems very loving and warm. I’m feeling it over here too!!
this is so special, thank you for such an intimate look into your life, the dinner with family
loving the setup of everything so far, especially the reading nook, it all looks so cozy!! this home is truly beautiful and it’s nice to see it all coming together. it was also lovely to see you enjoy a homecooked meal with your family!!
Suggestions:
Get a carpenter to look at the fireplace surround because it looks like it could be cut down and then the TV could be placed in top. The process should take less than one day and it should be relatively inexpensive.
Also they sell wall mounts that swivel and tilt down. Personally, I think option one would make the fireplace match the low scale furniture.
IDEA: you could put the TV beside the fireplace on the side near the window. slightly angle it, so you can use it in the living area and dining area. btw, love the content you've been posting🤍
oooo i did try this but for some reason the TV looks really weird sitting next to the fireplace mantel... i think because the black box next to black box visually looks strange
I haven't watched before but I LOVE the architecture of your new home and it looks like a serene and light-filled place to live. The great enamelled green and red details of the handrail and kitchen window could give you some ideas for a large art piece over the sofa, or a few pieces to collect over time (a standing lamp, tray, vase - whatever!) to add some small visual highlights of high gloss red, yellow, green or blue in metal, ceramic or glass, to accent those details and contrast the lovely soft neutrals of your woods and textile finishes. Those things can go away in cupboards until you decide you are craving a jolt of red, or orange, or whatever it may be, and then you can pull out a coloured vase and fill it with flowers, for example, to change the whole feel of what is otherwise a neutral room. Thanks, and I will enjoy the backlog of videos to catch up on.
welcome!! and yes i think the next step is to start filling up the walls with some shelves/art and adding little pops of decor and color :)
I absolutely cannot get over the view from your tree house! Looks absolutely incredible!
Broooo I love thissssss. So happy for yall. Excited for this new era.
looks great Eric, changing your pieces around from time to time helps keep it feeling fresh. I suggest you never settle for the best configuration. Congrats to you two!
so excited for this new era!!
the house is very unique and I feel like it was made for you! love how you arranged it so far , can't wait for more videos in your new home❤
Love this new era ❕❕❕
Ugh this is so sweet. I love everything about this and your parents are adorable
I love your style...I too am a homebody...I love decorating and moving stuff around....your home is lovely and I love all of the light coming in....looks great really...wish i could afford that couch for sure!!
Wishing you all the best and joy in this new place ! 🫶🏽🪴
Love the new place, it’s looking more and more like a home already!
love your new home eric, it looks super cozy especially the dining area with the lights. hope you figure out your living room. good luck and best wishes from denmark:)
You're right, there is no such thing as "how a place should be," - just different experience designs executed well or not so well. The ability to look at a space as a blank canvas is important part of interior design. It's very common for people to try and fit what they already have and then get comfortable with it, rather than think about what they would've done if they didn't have the pieces already. It's expensive and time consuming to buy new things and figure out what to do with the old ones, it's hard to let go of things in general, some more than others, but at the end of the day this ability is often what marks the difference between good looking interiors and truly inspiring interior designs.
Love the living room!! The projector looks like it can be a lot bigger you can get a pop up projector screen to make it look like a movie
I loveeee this apartment so much. It just feels so warm and homey ❤
It looks so good! I love your taste in interior design, I am getting inspired to switch up some of my furniture now. And I think the living area turned out well, I sort of like how the tv is somewhat "hidden". And that patio is like a dream! Will be fun to continue to follow your progression with your home. :)
Sofa with the back to the stairs and TV at the white wall. That’s my vote.
i tried this but it made the stairs feel super cramped and kinda hard to navigate to the kitchen/dining area
aahhhh what a beautiful space
wowww everything is coming together so nicely!!! the kitchen and dining space looks so cozy and warm
thank you!
such a chill vibe! I'd love to see the bts on how you make these videos!
omg i love the rug! it definitely brings something to the dining room
my living room size is similar! i turned the second area into a “listening area” with bench seating and turn table setup. also have the couch in the same spot but angled the tv in the corner on same plane as fireplace. looking great!!!
I love the cat hammock! The room has such a great view and natural light!
So happy to see you moved to a countryside, enjoys the green.
I really love your space. I want you to know that you've done well with your initial setup. Feels like home, cozy, warm and inviting. The rug in your dining room looks more like a rug for the bedroom than a dining room. You did mention that it was in your old bedroom and I think it fits that space more. That would be my only suggestion.
totally agree! I think we're gonna get a more traditionally shaped square rug for the dining area :)
miss the loft but already in love with the new space
I absolutely love your dining area! You got such a beautiful home!!!
I also love what you did with the living room. I guess that one thing that comes to my mind is steady energy versus moving energy. For example, the couches at the moment feel like you can’t relax in them because somebody can walk through that space. Ahhhh I don’t know if this makes sense. What if you move the couch away from the wall, and make the space next to the wall as the walking path while the couches get closer together and become the cozy area where you don’t walk through, but only relax… I’m no expert though obviously so please don’t take to heart this comment because I could be completely wrong. Also, in terms of the wall, there are always things that you can walk by, like frames and paintings, it doesn’t have to be shelves that you can run into (speaking from the perspective of a very clumsy person that constantly does it).
Anyway, I’m so excited for your place and you and your girlfriend are so incredibly cute! I’m looking forward to all the wonderful things you’re going to share with us.
Thank you!! We did try that and it was a good option :) might switch back n forth between that and this
I really love the style of your new home! It's a dream! 😍 Mid Century modern home with japandi interior design! 🤍I adore that your cat can be part of the cozy dinner time🐈 I also love that you are trying out people's suggestions 🥳I think a bigger coffee table would be nice in the living room 🤩 btw, do the dining chairs get stuck in the rug holes? 🤔
Your new place is looking amazing!
Love the new place !
Did you try putting the rug up near the fireplace, then floating the couch so you have a corridor behind the couch to use the kitchen door and
walkway, hallway on your big white wall ...then put the tv in the corner to the right of the fireplace...diagonal...then everything falls into place from there... I am sure you have already tried this idea! I just love decorating, Eric!
haven't tried the TV in the right corner yet, but we did try the floating couch! It was a good option but we figured we didn't need a walkway behind the couch since there was already that door to the kitchen
I knew it! You are too good at decorating. I do love that house you guys are in! So cool...Everything looks great everywhere!
Love the new place.. Not sure if you’re taking suggestions but I love rearranging things. Maybe try the tv where the white chair is and make that corner the tv watching corner so can also appreciate the view at the same time. Not sure it’s a big enough area for the couch though 😢
Ugh interior design is amazing as always
its soo adorable
you could place the big couch in front of the fireplace, its back facing the fireplace leaving some passage between the fireplace and the sofa. Then you can go ahead and place the TV along the blank wall and play around with the shelving along that wall.
I love your new house!
Eric, it's looking so good. As a fan that's been following you, I know you'll be switching things around (on a regular basis 😊). Enjoy your new place with your girlfriend and looking forward to all your decorating ideas. Also...those dumplings look yummy 😋
here's an idea-- do some research for tv mounts that extend outward as well as downward-- with one of those you can put the tv above the fireplace and when you'd like to watch, pull it out the of the wall and lower it to sit in front of the fireplace and then just put it back when you're done watching. it's both aesthetically pleasing and comfortable for viewing
7:26 what about putting the white couch with the back facing the fire place with a few feet between the two so the fireplace is still functional? Then the tv and mount can go along the big white wall. That would be a better surface for your projector too, and your view of the TV wouldn’t be obstructed by the projector in this configuration
space looks great. looking forward to seeing how it evolves and grows.
Rug is unpractical. If you move the chair the wrong way, it’ll be unleveled 💀. Food / liquid fallen on rug isn’t as easy to clean then going bare
Lovely!!!!!
Love the house so cozy
SUGGESTION; the tg on the white wall with the sofa facing it while the reading charge n mb an armchair facing the fire place
Gorgeous place :) Every corner is instagramable
10:43 i wonder how it would feel to playfully layer the tv over the fireplace unit (white frame floating at an angle
over the black) & that storage can replace the TVs current spot. because of the angle you can still lay & watch, or sit & watch
I’ve seen a couple of your videos now and I can’t help but notice your coffee table
We used to have those in my college and they were used as benches lmao
turn the sofa with its back to the fire place, keep some space between to walk through. and put the tv against the white wall. keep the toga sofa where it is. having a tv not against the wall actually makes the room look larger
Maybe you could get a tv mount and put the tv in front of the fireplace edge, so it kinda howers in the perfect position height wise. Potentially putting some plants or something else behind it so it doesn't make it feel weird.
lets go new vid
A pendant light above the dinning table would solve the current "where to put the tiny table lamp when food is served" issue. 😅
Where did you get the rug under the dining table? Love It!!!
Bro I love your house ❤❤❤❤😊
the mini togo, stawp 😭♥♥
so cute i love them
@@imericwangwhere did you get it? 😍
please longer vlogs, eric !
where did you find the rug in the dinig room and in the living room i love them !
Awesome vlog
Cool! Where is that cat hammock from? Love it
How do you pull out the dining chairs without it being uneven with half on the rug and half on the hardwood?
I think you will need a larger rug lol, crazy how that filled the space in the last apartment but now it looks so small
I would love to see a night view house tourrrr😮❤❤❤
Nice place bro 😍
4:33 I'm just wondering if you used the cat bed as a camera stand for this angle hahaha. Love the new home videos! Such a nice place :)
Here me out, love the squiggly rug BUTTT what if you layered it in the living room since its so big/to add texture and used a larger flatweave rug for under the dining table 👀
You’ve got a great eye for design
Lovely reading nuke corner 😊😊😊, can anybody suggest where can I find these set of lounge chair in the video pls?
Where did you get that cat window perch?!? It's awesome, and I need it.
Broo what an awesome place. If you dont mind sharing a ballpark figure of the rent and area? Wanted to go out of the bay too.
Your space looks absolutely beautiful and clean but to my cats, you have so many nice rugs for them to cough out furballs on🥹🥹🥹
I adore the cat bed that's stuck to the window! Do you remember where you brought it and what was its name?
Thank you for sharing your house, it looks lovely :)
I truly love the entire space, everything has a home and the functionality is there. For TV aspects do you watch alot of TV? is it only for night time watches? if so maybe sell your physical TV and just use your projector for nighttime watches? just a thought.
hmmm we do play a good bit of video games so a TV is still needed somewhere in the living room
Looking to move to San Francisco in the next couple of months and recently came across this channel. Trying to get an idea of what area this is outside of the main city limits/other areas like it. I've lived in main hubs since college but getting close to my 30's and not really a city guy anymore. Would love some recommendations if anyone has any. Thank you!
Do you like your modular sofa? I am considering the same one. Is it comfy and durable?
So funny how you opened the wine with a power drill 🤣
can you tell we just moved in and don't have a bunch of the kitchen tools we need yet HAHA
where did you get the mini togo!? so cute haha
wheres the box cabinet in your dinning room from?
If you plan on never using the big black fireplace, you could place the sofa against it. Then you can place your TV on the white wall opposite. Maybe not the greatest idea ever, but that would allow you to watch TV sitting up. And your girlfriend could sit beside you, as well. 😊
great idea! I think we want to keep the fireplace open for now, but might try this later
Possibly a round rug in the Living Room.
Youre my new michelle choi. The calm safe space I go to after a hard day, also watch ur videos and gets irrationally angry when someone interrupts me 🫣
I feel like one of those string wall shelves would be a better fit for the dining area than the muuto unit 🙊
the place is soo beautiful and so serene..i love it but i dont agree with the location of the tv haha
Wheres the dining table from ?
do you have any videos on your sister’s artwork? i want something similar for my home!
you can check out her work @awangggggg on instagram!
where is that miniature togo chair from?
Where is the living room rug from?
Hello Parents! We hope you are proud with Eric. Cause we are. Although I still miss the loft a lot huhu, just thinking about more spaces to run for Mao is what makes me feel better hehe :)
Where did the media console go?👀
Hi, where are your rugs from?
I'm sure you get this question quite a bit, but what camera do you use? I just subscribed and may have missed it if it was in an earlier video. Love the content btw!
what a house
I think the couches need to face each other in the direction the togo is now with the TV opposite the fireplace but maybe you tried and it didn't fit?
hahaha yep tried that one too! felt a bit too cramped
Try bringing the sofa past the kitchen door.
