One of My Favorite movie of all time,i've watched it over and over, still have tears in my eyes everytime, with all Respect and Grateful for all of Your Service to this Country,Your Sacrifices together with Your Family is Highly Appreciated, because of those Sacrifices we American and parts of the World enjoyed the Freedom You are fighting for Evert Single day,God Bless the Men and Women of Our Armed Forces.
Taking Chance is one of the absolutely most beautiful and beautifully done films I've ever seen. I know I wept from the beginning to the end -- and this movie did and still does feel like a prayer, done with such reverence.
May you protect us from the heavens above as you did while you were with us here on earth. From a grateful veteran, may you rest well Marine. Your duty is done.
Thanks Sir, Taking Chance was the most Patriot Movie I was watched in years. It was not about War, but the lose of a US Marine Corps Service Member, his trip or journey home and his family. Far more importantly it was about how most in this country feel about those service members whom gave all for their country and fellow service members. Thank you, the US Marine Corps and the production crew. Chance will never be forgotten, because of this most elegant, thoughtful depiction of his life, sacrifice and final resting place. God Bless.
I'm glad to see how things have changed since I took Brother Jose home 41yr ago! He was a Vietnam War Hero who reenlisted as a Pvt to come back to ANGLICO! The priest noted in his citation for the Silver Star when the helicopter on board which he was a passenger was struck by Enemy Fire Cpl Hernandez unhesantly exposed himself to intense Enemy Fire as he remained open to administer first aid to Several Vietnamese Marines and assisted them to reach Cover. I would like to thank the Soldiers from Fort Bliss for providing the Rifle Squad. The Major from the I&I staff stayed with me and the cemetery staff till the end. I learned years back that his wife Esperenza has joined him and they are together forever.
Im 60 and I am the only person alive that knows of Pvt Paul Absher killed 8/13/1944 at the age of 22. My mother's fiance. Why do I have his picture even now 30 years after my mother's death. Because..............he needs to be thought of...........
Thank you for sharing Pvt. Absher's information. You've been his Angel. I can't imagine what your Mother endured. I'm sure you miss your Mother, who passed too soon it appears. I'm so sorry. I believe that after we pass we meet with those who were part of our experience on earth. I'm sure they are both in peace and in the Joy of God's presence. Blessings.
Should have been more than a bronze star. Thank you for sharing this story though. We have seen several good movies about the valor of our troops. This is the aspect which goes untold...till now
After my parents retired, they moved over the hill to western Colorado, between Palisade and Clifton. As one Coloradoan to another, LTC Strobl, thank you for your service!

Thank you Julie I appreciate your comment. I just posted a video on RUclips at ruclips.net/video/bscj0diRcCw/видео.html. to honor our fallen soldiers. David
A wonderful tribute to the ones who have made the ultimate sacrifice for the freedoms we hold so dear. God bless every one of them. From Bunker Hill to Gettysburg, from Normandy to Iwo Jima, from the Chosin Reservoir to Hue, and from the mountains of Afghanistan to the deserts of Iraq. May they Rest In Peace.
I think of Gold Star families and and feel sorry for the loss of valiant patriots sent to die needlessly in illegal wars by corrupt governments and their sponsors.
No political division is destroying the very foundations this republic was built on just as you’re doing now. Stop dishonoring men like this for your foolish political crap
After the democrats, obama, pelosi, kamala, biden etal got into office I feel America has changed drastically, terribly and horribly. I wonder how the youth today, BLM, antifa, soros, clintons, the violent protestors and those demanding reparations feel about this movie. It hurts to say this but I feel/fear our soldiers who died sacrificed themselves for the sickness seen today.
I cried watching the movie, and I still cry watching Taking Chance. I was blessed my dad always came home from his flights in Vietnam. 😢
Wonderful movie! Truly respectful.

I can't say enough about the movie. It helped me see that there are so many more good people in our country.

How dare anyone thumb down this....
He represents the Strength and Honor that goes along with the Duty of Serving and Dying for Our Country!!😇🇺🇸🙏
Because of men and women like him, who put themselves in harm's way so that we may live free, I am very grateful
I served at Dover Port Mortuary 2005 to 2010. I know what happens it means a lot to many

Poem: America’s Gallant Soldiers
By: David O. Melton
America’s gallant soldiers
Serve to keep America free,
And some pay freedom’s highest cost
And die protecting you and me
These valiant men and women
Whose mortal bodies now lay still,
In death earned the greatest honor
Herald by a lone bugler’s skill
Because they preserve our nation
Chosen honor guards stand abreast,
While a lone bugle sounds out taps
For each great soldier laid to rest
Yet far greater than all these things
Beyond the stones of marble white,
Behold God’s tribute of honor
That’s shining eternally bright
Greater love has no one than this,
To lay down one’s life for one’s friends,
This honor is proclaimed by God
Over everything it transcends
Now honor our gallant soldiers
Who under freedom’s banner fall,
Soldiers who had to leave loved ones
And made sacrifices for all
Uplift their hurt and grieving child
Left to long suffer and travail,
Each soldier’s widow and orphan
Greatly needs our help to prevail
Let our nation and our people
Honor all sacrifices made,
Now honor our gallant soldiers
And our sacred freedoms they saved
The movie "Taking Chance" was one of my inspirations to write this poem
