How you discovered how maps worked to create a map editor capable of understand and create maps from scratch? If the source code of the game was never public? I think
Me and another developer had to reverse engineer the mission files from scratch. Even if you don't have the source code to a game or program you can still figure out how things work with reverse engineering, it just takes a long time.
Not necessarily, the level data is the same for both versions. However the asset data is different so there would need to be a lot of working around to get it working.

Is it true that in order to play this level on PS1, you'd have to build it from scratch using the PlayStation editor?
