If I recall correctly, you need to do the zadig driver replacement before you plug the dongle into your PC for the first time. Otherwise, winders tries to use an existing (and wrong) driver. Basically whiz through those instructions a couple of times before you do anything. And buy their ebook, too.
Excellent Video, most informative. I started playing with SDR years ago and still use the same set-up. I went with the Nooelec NESR SMArt dongle. For software I use Skywave Linux. I found this to be truly "plug & play", much easier to use and more user friendly than SDR Sharp. Maybe this winter I'll fool around with SDR again. For an antenna I use a 2 meter 70cm cheapo ham mag mount with an SMA male connection.
some years ago i used an RTL dongle from an DVB-T usb-stick for listening to ATC radio using SDR#. No i am trying to set it up all again, but i cant receive ATC radio (now using the current AIRSPY SDR# software). However, radio broadcastimg (FM) works fine. any hint what i am doing wrong? thanks
In an attempt to be as cool as the Ape, I'm checking eBay right now to see if I can buy a keyboard with the ANY key. Good video, will need to dust off the old V3 and see if it still works. Thanks for the upload.
Hi there. I love your videos, but I have a big problem while configuring my RTLSTR version four to my dell all in one windows 10 PC, I must’ve messed up the Zadig now I cannot log into my computer as the keyboard and mouse will not work, do you know of a solution. Thank you so much.
Hello i do have a problem. I got a chinese clone of msi2500 and when i plug in the dongle it says unkown device. i go to install the drivers with zadig, i put to install on the unkown device, and when i open the sdr# it doesnt show anything. can you tell what it may be?
4:00 its a good idea to run your anti-virus scan on the downloaded file(s) before extracting them and after extracting them and of course before running them. there is always a chance of RTL getting hacked or being hijacked and contaminating the files you are looking to use. I do this for EVERY file I download. My process is is to run hitman pro (paid version) on it and then my Vipre (paid version) to make sure its clean. after that you simply have to follow the instructions and its really hard to go wrong.
Ok what if I have screwed up and downloaded it all over my computer And my op system is 10 pro but started with 7 8 8.1 Xp 10 10 pro I can clean up the computer but how do I wipe the dongle This time no smoking my medicine until I up and running
I have v4 and I have had nothing but problems trying to get it to work on windows 11....basically it does not work on windows 11 unless you are a computer wiz..I failed 😢..all I get is no device installed
@TheSmokinApe it took my WiFi out and all my usb ports...I had to get a wired keyboard to get it to go again I was using wireless mouse and keyboard...well if you have better luck than me I would be interested how you did it...all the best mate from the UK
...or just stop using Windows. For example, on Arch Linux you'd simply run "sudo pacman -S rtl-sdr gqrx". Pacman would pull down the signed rtl-sdr and gqrx packages from the Arch repositories, verify them as legit, and install them for you in a few seconds. No need to download and install unsigned executables from random websites. As an added bonus, whenever you update your Linux system, you'd always have the latest rtl-sdr and gqrx packages applied too.
If you look at the whole of the user experience it's fairly safe to say that using Arch tends to require a more experienced end user, I'm sure we both can agree to that...
I have ver4 and after spending hours trying to make it work , I give up probably send it back to Amazon for a refund. It should not be this hard to set up .why release a new version if they don't have the software to support it ?I have an SDR play and had that working in a matter of minutes ...Very easy
I see the problem, Windows.
Fair point
PERFECT Ape. Logical, concise, well paced. Bravo.
Thanks Hollywood, appreciate you checking it out

Hey SS. Actually it is pretty confusing but you have to plug in the dongle, have windows assign the wrong driver (lol) and then replace it with zadig.
Nice video. Short and sweet and right to the point.
Have you actually been able to acquire a V4 dongle yet?
Thanks MS, I haven't even looked at the v4. I have a few SDRs that I don't really use often so I don't want to add another.
Apparently I'm missing a step. Realtek 2832UUsb is not showing up in the Device Manager: Sound, video and game controllers. Please advise.
Same problem here too

Anyway to install an ARM version of the driver when used with Windows in VMWare on a Mac?

How about installing and configuring multiple sdr dongles on the same computer
I’ve never tried but I can look into it 👍

That'll do it!
That's how they get you...
I do it by your step and get RSXNT error "Exception at 0x76CA50FA Application got signal SIGSEGV" 2x. SDR# is broken...
Sorry man, I haven’t seen that error
Thank you!
Thanks for watching BO 👍
My SDR++ together with RTL SDR-V4 and Win 10 show wrong frequency on the screen. FM ~100.000 Mhz works good and clear but the SDR++ says 59.000 Mhz.
Could it be the offset?
@TheSmokinApe can you yo a updated one for raspberry pi
Oler video, but it sould still work ruclips.net/video/7pgCC4cqgTc/видео.html
