What a great window into the past. When I was growing up outside Helensburgh in the sixties-seventies, Dumbarton was still the place you went when you needed something that you couldn't get in town. It's unfortunately, a shadow of its past now how many of you locals remember the smell of the mash tuns coming from Ballantine's?
At the start of the film, to the right just out of the picture was where I was born and lived until I was ten years old, in Strathleven Place. Memories.
I started to go to Dumbarton I was 11 yrs old (1968) my summer holiday stayed with my Aunt in Bellsmyre love to go into the precient to have maccarrone cheese
Great film. Left here when I was 8 in 1962. However year is wrong. It must be at least 1963 as there is a Mark 3 Ford Zephyr which didn't come out till late 1962. Miss all my old schoolmates at Dalreoch Primary in Castle hill.

That smell is one thing I do not miss!
Lovely to see Dumbarton as it was, that was how my mum described it when she was growing up there on Cardross
Road.
I worked in ballentines whisky distillery in the 60’s filling the little minitures! Great times great memories great friends!🇬🇧😊
Yes there was life back in those days. 😀
Thanks for that. I left High Street in 1967 to go to NZ. Great to drive down the old road right past where I lived.
Must be really nostalgic for you. Is there still life in NZ 🤣
Loved this n my mother will adore old DUMBARTON so this will bring good memories back 🌟😘😘😘
That brought back a few memories, used to walk that road home from my Granny's house ( Church St ) to Westbridge End

My mother worked at Galbraith while in school, around early 1930’s. Does anyone know where it was located?

Anyone know why the bit where the Artizan Centre on the High Street used to be called 'The Vinnel?' Not sure of the spelling.
These days the high street is a disgrace
