My grandfather was a tank commander and was martyred in the 1971 war - a great artist as well. Though I never met him, I feel his spirit lives through my art. Every stroke I paint is a tribute to him. The movie Ikkis is not just a film - it’s for families like ours, who carry the legacy and pride of 1971 in their hearts.
I am writing this complete story after receiving so many comments.
My grandfather served in the Deccan Horse regiment. During a fierce battle, while he was in his tank, a call for help came from another tank operator who was badly injured and needed immediate medical aid.
My grandfather wanted to help him, but his fellow tank members advised him not to open the hatch as there was heavy firing from both sides. But how could he leave a comrade behind? A Rajput by blood never abandons someone in need.
He opened the hatch, returned fire at the enemy, and in the crossfire, he was martyred while saving another soldier’s life.
He left behind four children - three daughters and one son - and a brave, warm-hearted widow at the age of just 35.
His story reminds me that courage runs in the blood, and sacrifice builds the legacy.

Just imagine the temperament of a 21 year old boy who was hit by shells in his face before he destroyed 3 tanks, then cleaned his wounded face blood dripping through his eyes then he destroyed 2 more tanks. Then died because his tank was also hit by enemy tanks. Ultimate courage and sacrifice for country 🇮🇳. Paramveer chakra.

Arun Khetarpal ji’s family originally came from Mianwali (now in Pakistan). My family is also Khetarpal and my grandfather also migrated from Mianwali during Partition. We were told in our family that our ancestral lines were connected. Salute to the legend.

As a military enthusiast, I'm pleasantly surprised by how they put actual accurate models of the Centurion Tanks used by the Indian Army and the M48 Pattons used by the Pakistani Army. Kudos simply for not putting up some gimmicky tank models but actual combat used ones.

During my school days while on my way i used to pass by an armored corps unit. There was a bust of 2nd Lt Arun Khetrapal and with a saying underneath it " Nations hero Our Pride " Youngest Indian Army officer to Won PVC. Salute to the legend
He was youngest to get PVC posthumously at the age of 21 years. Then his record was broken in 1999 by Yogendra Singh Yadav who got PVC at the age of 19 years who got shot while climbing 1000 foot cliff, threw a grenade to kill 4 enemy soldiers and then killed 4 more in hand to hand combat. By the end he had more than 12 shots in his body, but he survived.
Just when you think one PVC awardee has done a super human feat, another one comes up and says - "hold my beer!" Salute to these bravest of the brave. Legends!

Jaideep Ahlawat. Man wanted to join the Indian army so badly and here he is portraying the pakistani officer who took down one of India's greatest heroes. Quite ironic and must've been very emotional for him. Can't wait to watch this.

I stay in NOIDA and we have Arun Vihar, named after him. Since my school days, I have been intrigued and amazed about this young officer who showed such valor. Eagerly awaited movie!!
Fact: there is an island named after him in andaman.
I had tears when i read about him and his father visit to pak. He stayed at home of the man(pak solider) who killed his son. The pak solider was also a true man for seeking forgiveness and letting his father know how brave his son was and how much destruction he caused to pak all alone.
A legend who is engraved in my heart since ages.

It's not that I understand Cinema very well and there was no issue of understanding in my childhood, and when I was five, I liked to watch cinema only for action.. in short, to watch fights and gore😊 And that was mostly in the films of the respected actor Dharmendra sir. At that age, I had seen "Mera Gaon Mera Desh", "Phool Aur Patthar", "Jugnu", "Azaad", "Sholay" and I don't know how many other films. Later, I saw "Ghulami", "Hukumat", "Elaan E Jung", "Police Wala Gunda", "Batwara" and many more films. It was very nice to see such a handsome and handsome man on the screen, fighting and fighting, along with his extraordinary acting skills. When I learned to identify with his name and his films, the desire to watch the film arose whenever I saw the poster of his film and I used to stand on the street and look at the poster of his film for a long time.

Currently, he is admitted to the hospital due to illness, various news about him is being published in different places, I cannot understand which is right and which is wrong. But I sincerely wish that he will remain among everyone for a long time in a healthy body.

Just saw the trailer of IKKIS, and I must say it looks absolutely amazing! Kudos to the entire team for the way they’ve edited trailer, they didn’t give away much, yet managed to keep the audience completely engaged throughout. The color grading, the pacing, and every little detail were on point. And a special mention to Agastya Nanda what a promising lad! You can literally see his growth and ease on screen. He’s such a free-flowing actor; it doesn’t feel like he’s “trying” to act it just comes naturally. Hard to believe it’s only his second (or rather first) film. The conviction, the expressions, the effort all of it shows. I’m genuinely looking forward to watching Agastya’s journey unfold. Big kudos to @Maddock team as well amazing work all around! 👏

Before this trailer I didn't have any Idea who was Arun Khetrapal , After I finished this trailer I went and searched his name and learned about him ; If India wasn't helped Bangladesh in 1971 Bangladesh may never gain her Independence from Pakistan. Bangladesh became independent on 16 December 1971 ; and this brave young man died the same day . My immense respect for this soul.His life was short but meaningful .I will pray for his soul .
