as someone who is really obsessed with gamedesign himself, i really enjoy watching sakurai talk about what he enjoys the most his life's work, why and how he did the things he did he clearly has much more influence in his games and how they are presented than some of the other "heads of franchises" at nintendo do he has been there pretty much since the inception of when video games started to actually become good and he may be more responsible for that than a lot of people realize and i respect the hell out of him so i really hope he's not gonna stop his channel any time soon i've been there day 1 and enjoyed every minute so far so it really hurts every time i go to the comment section and see comments of people that either just want attention, clearly haven't watched the video, just ask some stupid smash-related question like "when this character" or all 3 at once and not to critique this video itself, but the title certainly doesn't make it better

I think you're overthinking it. Sakurai has always been passionate in talking about game design, he's had a regular column in Famitsu magazine for years now. I just think this channel is an (international) extension of that.

we don't need less game developers, we need less games in general. It'd be better if game devs would focus more on spending more time and effort on one small game, or even a few small games, in order to make them the best they can be, rather than try to crank out games by the dozens every month and have them all be dog water cash grabs. It's not that there's too many people, it's that there are too many people that aren't trying hard enough to make something meaningful.
