I cut to paste for the move but had to leave for an appointment. I cancelled the move. Wrong choice. I got back and realised the files missing from OG and not on destination HDD either. This has been a godsend! I did a deep scan on the OG and retrieved everything. Thank you ❤

I knew I could get the files back and remembered Recuva also had the directory structure option. I cant get it to download. Aftewr a fgew seconds it says "connection timed out". Is there any way to make my browser wait longer for a download to start? I mean, the download just be about to start but my stupid broswer's too impatent to just WAIT LONG ENOUGH for the dam download to start!
Amazing Brian that an empty drive as in your video can have files that can be recovered. Plus I am going to assume that the data recovered is some that to all intents and purposes have been deleted! So it really mocks the assumption that a format of a drive does not actually remove any data eh? So I might give this a whirl as I have a brand new 64GB stick which after "formatting" will not work for storing anything on it now (it is SanDisk stick which on first view had some read only partition SanDisk partitions on it already?? What would you do in that situation??
I have used software like this in the past and while recovering the data is better than losing it all it doesn't recover the file and folder structure. So you end up as you did with bunches of files, but they are not in the original file and folder structure.
One of the things that has burned me many times is deleting a file or folder off of a networked drive and then realizing it was a mistake. For network drives the file are not copied to the recycle bin. Is there any way to recover files deleted from a mapped network drive?
So you deleted all those files then since that time you formatted the device several times. Why did you format it more than once? Did you store any files on the drive after you deleted everything the first time? I'm a professional sceptic & the way you laid this out triggered my B.S alarm. Brian, would this be able to recover data on a 256Gb Flash Drive (whose drive letter is now unknown and not displayed in, say, Device Manager). Control Panel/hardware/USBs shows "Error 43: Device Descriptor unrecognised". Different PCs, different USB slots tried, but all to no avail. Tried 'Attrib etc' in Command Prompt, but that also doesn't reveal the Drive letter when several attempts made with various letters. Surely there must be some way of getting at this USB, Brian?

When Windows writes a file to disk, there is metadata about the file stored in the file systems database. Does that metadata contain the file name? If so, why can't the data recovery software recover the recovered files' name? Thanks.

I've been waiting for this video for about 5 years Update, so after about 28hours on a 1TB HDD it recovered a lot of files, unfortunately all of them where corrupted, since this program does not recognise offline partition's i had to do another format.
How can these data recovery software's keep saying they can recover data off a hard drive even if it is not seen by Windows anymore, when my hard drive is still seen by Windows but the software can not see my hard drive and it just freezes my PC until I unplug the faulty drive. I have tried every one I can find but none work trying to recover a suddenly failed hard drive with my 50 years of music collection on it.
Sir it can be possible to hack or copy our data that we recovered from that app or it cannot be possible to copy or hack our data files that we recovered via that recovery app or any recovery deleted files app? The Media( External WD passport drive 1T) is not recognized by system( A Laptop w/ Window 10) chkdsk does not work to resolve issue I beleive disk has logical system corruption. During a writing stage the connection was interrupted several times , due to a lose usb connection. The drive is recognized by Device Manager ,but not seen by Disk Management. When connected to system ,system can't the read the drive ,if disconnected system reports "drive not accessible", parameters are incorrect. Drive shows up in explore after being connected and doing a refresh but it is inaccessible as to no being able to see the files,If you right click to try and get to the properties , cursor just sits showing hour glass but not accessing drive. Drive has no Physical damage or be subjected to any form of rough treatment to cause physical damage , because of this behavior, I assume It is that there is a logical corruption of the file system.
Ive formated my HD think it was a USB flash drive and lost 100bg but the main one was a Saved notes folder and in there was notes pads with all my login and passwords for everything games apps banking and now its gone hoping this can get it back as i cant remember half of them and thats the whole reason for the saved notes
I can not run this file as I don't have admin rights to my machine. I was able to download a portable version and I still can't run the program. I need admin rights for that too. Is it because this file was not digitally signed and can not be authenticated?

Is it normal for WinFrGui to be slow on DeepScan mode? It took 8+hours to recover a 32gb flash drive.

That program doesn't discern formatted drive data from erased. Along with losing name and folder structure. Makes it virtually worthless.
