This terrified me as a child. My mom always tried to calm me down though by pointing out how Donald was there (I loved Donald) and that makes it unscary. Now it just makes me realize Donald was doing some shady shit undercover.

This has been an inside joke in my family for such a long time: My mom used to rent the Disney sing-along videos from the library for us and because she knew the content would be safe, she would let us watch them alone. Then this came on and we all started screaming and crying and none of us were brave enough to go near the TV and turn it off. I'm so happy I found it and that there were so many others who had the same experience. Hope you enjoyed my story 😂

It’s funny because the video is extremely cheery and right before this you have Pooh, and everything’s great. Then the camera starts to pan over to the mansion and it’s still daylight but the kids are just staring at the mansion all distressed and it just takes a turn from there. It’s very clever the way they set it up, they drew upon long shots and classic horror elements before just dropping this on you. At first, everything is good and then BAM, there are the ghosts!
My little sister used to do that back in the day as well as soon as poohs song ended and they showed the mansion gates she’d run to another room and I’d have to tell her when it was over that was back in the early 2000’s but I still remember it

The Evil Queen and Maleficent also freaked me out but one of the parts I didn't like was when he sang "Now don't close your eyes and don't try to hide, or a silly spook may sit by your side." I took it literally as a kid and it really scared me. The "Creepy creeps with eerie eyes." part also scared me as a kid because it was like they were staring straight at you, waiting to come after you.
I asked my parents to make a costume similar to the scary trees. I ended up with a cardboard box spray painted brown with a cutout for my face and holding 2 tree branches.
I somehow watched this when I was younger and it haunted my dreams, completely terrified me. I was never the same after watching this, and I searched for it to see if it was real and I’m glad I wasn’t just going insane.

I have a distinct memory of watching this on a summer evening when I was like 3 or 4, and my mom went to the neighbors house or something, and this came on during the Sing Along Songs. Interesting fact is that the woman playing Maleficent and the scream when she appeared is my late Auntie Linda, My dad's sister. As far back as I can remember she was a HUGE disney fan and had alot of disney decor in her house. She always took me and my cousins to Disneyland alot. When I gotten older she told me she use to be a performer cast member, showed me her old ID etc. She showed me old photos of her dressed as Maleficent (which ironically was her favorite villain). She told us that she was going to be in a disney vhs tape about visiting the park and they wanted her as Maleficent. So this is her immortality. Also if you remember the old disney vhs home theatre commercial where you get a glimpse of Esmeralda Dancing is my cousin. So in a way Maleficent is my Auntie and Esmeralda is my cousin!
This scared me more than anything when I was little...I vividly remember happily watching the VHS and then this part coming on and me running through my house to hide in my room before I saw the trees. Or my twin brother putting it on just to freak me out. Fun times. :P

The Disney Company should’ve also filmed Grim Grinning Ghosts at the other Haunted Mansion in Florida. It can have its characters like the three Hitchhiking Ghosts, Constance the murderous ghostly bride, the Caretaker, the Hatbox Ghost, and Madame Leota. But the Haunted Mansion can also have a vampire, a zombie, a witch, a werewolf, the Grim Reaper, the Frankenstein’s Monster, and the Headless Horseman. It would be a great combination for a Halloween music video at the Haunted Mansion in Disney World. Very scary! 🏚👻⚰️🕸🪦😱
I liked The Haunted Mansion because it has the Ghost Host, Hitchhiking Ghosts, Hatbox Ghost, The Masked Executioner, and the Bride can also have the Lonesome Ghosts from the 1937 film of the same name, and the 4 Skeleton Dancers from the 1929 Silly Symphony short of the same name.

Disneyland should really have a Haunted Mansion show like this every night where all the Disney Villains especially Maleficent dance in front of the Haunted Mansion to this song. That would be fucking super scary but awesome at the same time. I really think that the Haunted Mansion should be 100 x more scarier (it's only scary in the beginning but gets silly as the ride progresses especially as you get to the end) maybe by having Maleficent and the Wicked Queen as her young self or peddler self greet you at the door way or even them be inside the Haunted Mansion.

I somehow watched this when I was younger and it haunted my dreams, completely terrified me. I was never the same after watching this, and I searched for it to see if it was real and I’m glad I wasn’t just going insane.
Apparently this song scared the living bejesus out of most people when they were kids. It was always my favorite part, I would rewind it over and over. Thank you for posting it, I never thought I would see or hear it again!

I have a distinct memory of watching this on a summer evening when I was like 3 or 4, and my mom went to the neighbors house or something, and this came on during the Sing Along Songs. It wasn't the first time I had watched the video, but I remember being so scared that time. Probably because I was alone. I looked outside and couldn't find my mom, so I started crying. This and Heffalumps and Woozles freaked me out. Yesterday, almost 20 years later, I mentioned the songs to my dad and apparently I was so scared of them that he's STILL sympathetic.

Every time I watched my Disneyland Fun video when I was a little girl, I always wanted my mom or dad or big brother to fast forward through this part because it always infinitely scared me to death--especially when Maleficent appears and when she says BOO!!!!!!
So funny. When i was younger, I was so freaking terrified of this part yet i had to keep rewatching it to the point where i annoyed my family lol. Turns out I grew up to love horror. Go figure (: This will always be my first "scary" video though. The costumes are so grotesque and their facial expressions are perfect.

Interesting fact is that the woman playing Maleficent and the scream when she appeared is my late Auntie Linda, My dad's sister. As far back as I can remember she was a HUGE disney fan and had alot of disney decor in her house. She always took me and my cousins to Disneyland alot. When I gotten older she told me she use to be a performer cast member, showed me her old ID etc. She showed me old photos of her dressed as Maleficent (which ironically was her favorite villain). She told us that she was going to be in a disney vhs tape about visiting the park and they wanted her as Maleficent. So this is her immortality. Also if you remember the old disney vhs home theatre commercial where you get a glimpse of Esmeralda Dancing is my cousin. So in a way Maleficent is my Auntie and Esmeralda is my cousin!

The Disney Company should’ve also filmed Grim Grinning Ghosts at the other Haunted Mansion in Florida. It can have its characters like the three Hitchhiking Ghosts, Constance the murderous ghostly bride, the Caretaker, the Hatbox Ghost, and Madame Leota. But the Haunted Mansion can also have a vampire, a zombie, a witch, a werewolf, the Grim Reaper, the Frankenstein’s Monster, and the Headless Horseman. It would be a great combination for a Halloween music video at the Haunted Mansion in Disney World. Very scary! 🏚👻⚰️🕸🪦😱
I liked The Haunted Mansion because it has the Ghost Host, Hitchhiking Ghosts, Hatbox Ghost, The Masked Executioner, and the Bride can also have the Lonesome Ghosts from the 1937 film of the same name, and the 4 Skeleton Dancers from the 1929 Silly Symphony short of the same name.

Disneyland should really have a Haunted Mansion show like this every night where all the Disney Villains especially Maleficent dance in front of the Haunted Mansion to this song. That would be fucking super scary but awesome at the same time. I really think that the Haunted Mansion should be 100 x more scarier (it's only scary in the beginning but gets silly as the ride progresses especially as you get to the end) maybe by having Maleficent and the Wicked Queen as her young self or peddler self greet you at the door way or even them be inside the Haunted Mansion.

Yes I finally found this after all these years! This video always scared the hell out of me when I was about 3-6 years old and I am now 21. Took me forever to find this. I still can't remember what movie this preview opened for though because I watched a lot of movies on VHS when I was a kid. (Aladdin, Toy Story, Tarzan, bugs life, Bambi, the hunchback of notre Dame, Dinosaur, Monsters Inc., Hercules etc.)
