Ron Mueck has been invited to present his new sculpture at the Fondation Cartier pour l'art contemporain from April 16 to October 27 2013. This is his first major exhibition in Europe since the hugely successful Fondation Cartier exhibition of 2005.
In addition to six important recent sculptures the show includes three produced especially for this event. A new film recording their creation has been made for the occasion by Gautier Deblonde. Revealing the reclusive artist at work further emphasizes the sensitivity and power of Ron Mueck's sculpture and highlights its particular resonance for our time.
    ------
    ------
Based in London, Ron Mueck has had highly acclaimed exhibitions around the world from Japan to Australia, New Zealand and Mexico, but shows of his new work in Europe have not been frequent occurrences. Mueck works slowly in his small North London studio, making time itself an important element in his creative process. His human figures are meticulously detailed, with surprising changes of scale that place them as far from academic realism as they are from pop art or hyperrealism.

What a good idea you had to ask Lynch to come here! Thank you very much! We needed Lynch speeches about something else than his work or his inability to do it because of exteriors reasons. This video is simple and delicate, it's GOOD to watch it :)

Angelo Maldini Really? I was thinking almost the exact opposite. Normally when I hear critiques of Mueck, there's always a strong emphasis on "what is the artist saying, look at his skill, his technique, his commentary on the human form, how we can find something so normal so beautiful, simply because it's not 'real'" but what we rarely ever find is exactly what Lynch brought for us to the table: What is this person, this statue feeling? What brought them to the place and the position and the expression that we currently see them in? What have they seen, what have they done, how have they lived up until this point? These are questions that Lynch answers, and they are questions that I really haven't heard asked in the exhibitions.
In perfect Lynchian fashion, perhaps he fails to provide the answer you were expecting him to give, and instead gives the answer to questions that haven't been asked yet.

If anyone else had said what David here is saying, I'd have gone:yeah, but its a little more profound than that.
But since it is David Lynch saying it, it absolutely... ABSOLUTELY!... makes perfect sense.

It is neither, it is merely David's interpretation. I don't judge peoples comments on art based on what they say but in how genuine their expression is - it's attempt at honesty.

Not sure why you expected more. David has always said he is not an intellectual type, he is intuitive.
The only thing important here is how genuine his expression is about what he thinks of the pieces.
It seems to me, that it is genuine

I know that everyone gets there own opinions & feelings when looking at these Amazing works of Art But what David Lynch was saying * To me was just so far fetched * It is like he was trying to dig & dig & dig at something that isn't there * I actually had to mute it so that I could enjoy the Beautiful works of Art & not listen to what David Lynch was saying

Does everything have to have a deeper meaning? What a load of baloney, David. Perhaps it's just a couple relaxing on the beach and nothing more. Or, he is thinking that he is comfortable and she is thinking, it's my turn to lay down and you be the pillow for a while! My leg is falling asleep! When I was in high school, I did a drawing that got hung in the local museum. The drawing was of cards playing people. The face cards held hands of people and the Jack had people stuffed in his sock, up his sleeve and in his collar, as he was cheating. A friend's mother went to the museum and saw it. She told me she liked the "meaning" behind it. I asked her what that meaning was and she told me it was, "the helplessness of people". It actually was just cards playing people. Nothing deeper than what was right in front of her face. I'm always amused by people reading things into a work of art.

Meaning is extracted from everything. Only because it can be.
David is not expressing anything concrete or that these pieces have concrete inherent meaning. Obviously he expresses this same sentiment in the beginning of the video -it is about interpretation. This is how we identify meaning, it is our subjective experiences that provide us with feelings about "something."
Saying that is a load of baloney is about as arrogant as someone who would say they know absolutely the TRUE meaning of a piece. There is no one way or the other, it is subjective.
