When I saw the movie I couldn't understand what happened. I knew later the scenes were cut but hadn't seen them to now. It was like 10-15 seconds but it let you know who he was as opposed to the initial scene on Tatooine that was 5+ minutes.

Totally disagree with you about Padme pulling a knife on Anakin. That would have been acting like the Jedi who never believed one from the dark side could be turned to the light. Her action would have angered fans who recognize the mistaken actions and beliefs of the Jedi. Leia remembering her real mother is not a plot hole in ROTJ. Perhaps having her eyes open, looking at her mother enabled the force to imprint Padme on Leia in some way. Luke had his eyes closed and so could not remember as he did not see or possibly even hear her name him or speak to him. Han being in The Force Awakens and not reuniting with Luke, being in the Millenium Falcon with him and Leia, dying without being with Luke and Leia and his droid companions, his going back to his criminal activity, not being happily married to Leia made his appearance not much in the film and so unlike the Han of the original trilogy. Also, I disagree that the extra conversation between Yoda and Obi-wan about not telling Luke who his father is links up with Luke's idea to end the Jedi in The Last Jedi. The Luke from episode 4-6 would never think the Jedi needs replacing with something else. With all the problems of the Jedi, Luke was always a devout supporter of it. The Luke in Last Jedi is not that Luke, but a creation of Rian Johnson. So nothing in any of the episodes 1-6 has any connection to him.
Having luke see the battle is a good clip. Him talking to biggs adds so much context. Luke finishing his lightsaber and putting it into r2 would have been perfect. I gotta add these to the despecialized editions.
I agree. The rebellion scene would have been awesome. Padme willing to kill Anakin? Never would have happened given who she was. And Luke is her son as well - he saw there was still light in his father and was right.
I would only make sense for her to get credit for editing the best films of the Starwars franchise. She did know what she was doing and deleted the scenes with good reason.
I'll accept good reason for the theatrical cut, but there should have been director's cuts (being done at that time) perhaps available on Betamax (also available at that time) that featured some of the extra footage. Certainly, George should have kept the unedited master copies in a safe, dry, cool location. He was planning a nine-part series and archival material could have been useful in it. A part 3 where, right at the end, Luke is watching the space battle would have neatly sewn the first and second trilogies together.
I was 9 years in 77'.. But... I saw the Toshi Station' scene in the theater! I swear! They didn't get all the alteration reels... I saw that scene in the theater!
Ok I’m not defending the Empire for losing to a bunch of teddy bears but there are reasons why they lost 1. They outnumbered the Storm Troopers 2. They knew the land and how to get around and had traps set up 3. They used gorilla tactics (which if the American Revolution taught us anything are incredibly hard to combat) 4. They ambushed the troopers on the moon And there are more but I agree that the Empire was completely humiliated by the freaking Care Bears rejects.
Nobody ever mentions that the Ewoks were people eaters..... the were going to serve up Han at a feast in honor of C3PO and more than likely ate the dead Stormtroopers(hence all of the empty helmets being played like bongos), so they are apparently proficient at hunting humanoids.
Remember Vietnam. We had numbers and weaponry. But we were clueless as to the terrain. It's all in the training and familiarity. Remember Luke's comment about the emperor's over confidence.
Actually Padme’ didn’t die of a broken heart. She died because Emperor Palpatine transfered her life force into Anakin so he could survive and live on his legacy as the servant of Palpatine until the day he faced his true fears of Sidious and killed the Sith Lord.
Entry #3 on your list was what the fans wanted to see for quite some time. They were finally shown to the public first in 1997 to celebrate the 20th anniversary, and were finally released on the Blu-Ray collection in 2011.
Point of order; Leia doesn't have memories of her mother, she actually was subconsciously building a perceived "memory" based on her en-utero time before being born. This is an allusion to Leia being force sensitive in perceiving her mother's mood while in the womb.
Cutting the lightsaber scene was good; it made the big reveal later better. Luke's plan is obvious when it concluded. Tosche station ruined the dramatic opening with Luke via Binary Sunset. Han making goofy quips to the New Order troops robs the scene of gravitas and leaves us with the same feeling we had when Poe made the "Your Mom" joke in Last Jedi. The cut scene with Leia would have robbed the surprise of her entrance, and her making little quips is the same issue with that Poe had in The Last Jedi.
I once saw a cut where Toshi Station was placed after Luke watches the incomplete recording of Lea and before R2 is gone. This was perfect: First the pacing is already slowed down at this point, second it explains why R2 could get that far before Luke returns from sighing at the double sunset.
@@Cionaoith that anakin thing is actually a thing yes. Maybe it is wanking him when saying he's the chosen one or smth. Or maybe that his fall to the dark side was SOMEHOW the same that Yoda did in the clone wars. At least on the emotional point of view, or a combination of emotional growth and being the chosen one, who knows xD. Or maybe it was the will of the force. Who knows besides the Whils (or however it is written, sry I'm not a native english speaker).
The Toshe station would have added nothing to a New Hope. It was wise to cut it - it slowed the pace down from the space battle and escape. Imagine cutting from the space battle to see Luke hanging with his friends. Lucas' original cut was HORRIBLE.
How Star Wars was Saved in the Edit is a fantastic video and anyone who thinks that adding the 5 and a half minute Tosche Station footage would have helped the movie needs to watch it.
Leia remembered her mother (step mother). She had no idea she was adopted. Yet people always say "She was just a baby, she can't remember Padme". Remember she thought her Senator dad was her father, not Darth Vader.
On page 2 of the young Leia novel by Claudia Gray, it says: "Leia felt a small quiver in her belly, equal parts nerves and anticipation. This was the biggest day in her life since her first Name Day, when her parents had taken her into the throne room and declared her their daughter by adoption and by love-"
The deleted scene in TLJ with the "village raiders" was such a nice addition to old Luke's new grumpy persona and a perfect way to add depth to his teachings while remaining entertaining. Instead we had a long ass canto bight scene xD
Leia remembering her mother still fits. Leia doesn't have memories of being with her real mother, she said "images and feelings." This can easily be assumed that she remembers her through the force. However, I always thought the reason Padme died was so lame. It would have been much better, and felt far more tragic had it been that Anakin injured her too badly when he force choked her, and she wasn't able to recover. Palpatine convinced Vader that's what happened, so he already believed it anyway. Why not just make it the truth. Oh well, I still loved the movie regardless.
I prefer to think of the Tosche Station as a strip club and the Power Converters are strippers one can pick up as portrayed in the Robot Chicken Star Wars special. It helps me tolerate Luke's whining from A New Hope a little bit more to think that he had plans of getting some space tail, whether human or alien, before being shot down by Uncle Owen.
Some movies would benefit from removing parts of the movie. For instance..."The Last Jedi" could have been cut by 2 hours and 31 minutes and it would be perfect.
I always liked the "Luke Working on his Lightsaber" scene. Then again, adding all of the original Star Wars scenes creating more of the original trilogy is fine by me...except for the Empire Strike's Back weird Wampa attack.
Having three moms is sort of unnecessarily complicated, and can't be assumed was the intention in RotJ. That's a retcon to a problem that they could have avoided easily in the writing of RotS.
J Sleazy Leia had no step mother, but she did have an adoptive mother. But Luke said her real mother. That was Padme. It is not a plot hole in ROTJ. Leia had the force in her at birth so it's powers could have enabled her to remember her mother since her eyes were open so that she saw her. Luke's eyes stayed closed during that time which is why he may not have remembered is mother.
che broadnax It is not a retcon problem in ROTJ. And Leia did not have three mothers. She only had an adoptive mother and her birth mother. The reason she may have remembered her mother is that her eyes were opened so the force power in her could have enabled that memory to stay in Leia's mind. Luke did not have his eyes opened when Padme saw and named him. Even with force powers, it would not be able to have him remember her since he did not see her or likely hear her(asleep maybe?).
This is awesome especially the scenes with Biggs Darklighter from the original StarWars that is something I've only heard about over 30+ years but never seen on screen. I wonder how this archived footage was discovered & if their is more from the first StarWars film because I heard their was more with Biggs, Wedge, & Luke doing a X-Wing adventure in the canyons on Tatooine shooting wamprats?

Some of the Tosche stations made it past edit originally. There was a rare film format that only 4 theaters used which received a previous edit. One of those theaters was the drive in where I lived, so when I saw the original release a good 30 times, it was with those scenes intact.
nothing could have saved the garbage fire that is the last jedi but i will say that having some of these scenes instead of the tit milk or leaia poppins scene would have helped.
I find that is the problem with US movies... Everything needs to be shown on screen. Nothing can be left to the imagination of how or why something has happened. Everything needs to be on screen otherwise the audience can't follow it !
It's not the script I would have written (which matters not) or the one Mark Hamill would have written (rather more important). I think it would be interesting to have fans write complete alternate scripts that feature the same characters and concepts but nothing else.
hard to believe that in over 40 yrs together that Han would have only shot the bowcaster once. yet another example of the horrible writing in that movie!
Never trust Disney. They only want your money. I don't hate Disney in its entirety, but I do have how careless they get just to send an SJW message just because they "are to big to fail". They have and do make some good movies every once and a while, but now, most of them now are just too much. I hate the fact that Starwars got caught in the crossfire.
Considering we only ever saw him in three movies up to that point, exactly when would he have had the opportunity to use it? You gotta remember, the world of movies (especially when it is a Fantasy) doesn't take place within real-time, and any time you try to attribute logic to Fantasy, you're just doing it wrong. Oh, yes, lets we forget, Star Wars is Space FANTASY, not Sci-fi
Qui-gon and Yoda is the deleted scene that would've had the biggest impact, and the lack of that scene is my single greatest gripe about ROTS. That was a scene that needed to happen!
Endor is the planet, but they are on the moon of it. (Just like Yavin is the gas giant, while Yavin 4 is the 4th moon.. although it's also the system name at the same time...)
Completely agree with everything... except the Wampas! It's intimated that Yoda can hear Qui-Gon's voice whilst meditating, as Anakin turns the sand people into luncheon meat.
It matters not. Do you hear that? That is the sound of *a thousand new fans* a thousand new fans *thousand new fans* a thousand new fans coming to replace you.
Leia's memory about her mom might be about her adopted mom or just a lie that was told and she made a false memory for. Especially since Luke doesn't remember padme and the fact they would've only seen her for 10 seconds as newborns before she died
Just use composite(yellow plug) from the LD player, since LD is composite on the disk. Any other output(s-video, component, RGB, et cetera) is going to be processed from that signal. You tv will most likely do it better unless you have a very late and very high end LD player. Or use a external upscaler.
I've seen a great many "deleted scene" vids on here but this one truly was correct, had these key scenes been included, they would have made the film a lot better and more meaningful than it was. Perhaps someone with the editing skills and backing will someday soon add these deleted scenes back into the films and release the new extended films anew.
I was super excited when I heard that Lucas could still release the originals I suppose Disney had an agreement when he sold the rights that he reserves that right
What was wrong with the plan to save Han it seamed pretty forward to me that they had a plan A,B,C and D in place guess it was too simple for people to see and had too be put in stone for them to understand. Its channels like this that makes people dumber.
I was gonne give the force awakens the benefit of doubt as it looked like a lot of stuff was going on that would be revealed in the next 2 movies and I didn't want to be that guy ranting about stuff that is later seen as great forshadowing of huge twists. But after seeing the last Jedi, I think I have to agree with you.
The sequel trilogy could have been made better with one simple deletion. Delete chapters 7 and 8. Fire everyone on chapter 9. Fire Kathleen Kennedy, J.J. Abrams and Rian Johnson. Then start over with MUCH better writers. Hire an actress to replace Leia. Give Han and Leia a HAPPY marriage. Give Han, Leia and Luke a SCENE TOGETHER.

@@CanadaWaxSolvent it should of been in shadows of the empire atleast
3:07 I believe the Commander was referring to Inferno Squad..
Making luke part of the famous blood line is what makes it so believable of how powerful he is . ...
My understanding was that it was the Oscar winning editors who decided to remove Tosche Station from Star Wars, not George Lucas.
Good decision - it really was way too 'America'.
It's in the radio drama...
Yes, because the rough cut was a confusing mess. The editors were credited with saving the film.
I wish the founding the Rebellion scenes had been left in.
I think her not wanting to believe Anakin capable of such things fits her character, too.
I agree. The rebellion scene would have been awesome. Padme willing to kill Anakin? Never would have happened given who she was. And Luke is her son as well - he saw there was still light in his father and was right.
I love how Kenobi lies about being at the cloning facility and just helps yoda take charge of the storm troopers later.
Why not name the editor? It was Lucas's now ex-wife. She was instrumental to the OT.
well these people call this suburb otangarei OT in my town
She doesn't deserve credit.
Yes she does, do you know anything about the editing of episode iv?
12:30 It did end up in the Clone Wars TV show.
Wait. What?!
I thought The Last Jedi WAS the deleted scenes from The Force Awakens.
It's not? Cuz that's alarming.
Rude
I was 9 years in 77'.. But... I saw the Toshi Station' scene in the theater! I swear! They didn't get all the alteration reels... I saw that scene in the theater!

2:59 by "best troops" it would make sense that infero squad was on endor at the time (swbf2)
Ok I’m not defending the Empire for losing to a bunch of teddy bears but there are reasons why they lost
1. They outnumbered the Storm Troopers
2. They knew the land and how to get around and had traps set up
3. They used gorilla tactics (which if the American Revolution taught us anything are incredibly hard to combat)
4. They ambushed the troopers on the moon
And there are more but I agree that the Empire was completely humiliated by the freaking Care Bears rejects.
Nobody ever mentions that the Ewoks were people eaters..... the were going to serve up Han at a feast in honor of C3PO and more than likely ate the dead Stormtroopers(hence all of the empty helmets being played like bongos), so they are apparently proficient at hunting humanoids.
And that’s another reason.
For gods sake it’s *GUERRILLA*
Remember Vietnam. We had numbers and weaponry. But we were clueless as to the terrain. It's all in the training and familiarity. Remember Luke's comment about the emperor's over confidence.
On the upside, thanks to JarJar Binks and the gungans the ewoks are no longer the suckiest thing in the Galaxy.
You forgot the deleted scene from Revenge of the Sith that shows Yoda arriving Dagobah
"...so you can make your own fan edit." My thoughts exactly... Thank you SR!
Oh I have a full breakdown of how all three prequel movies would be re-written and would work amazingly well.
1:31 "Laser sword", yeah right... que the Luke Skywalker throwaway scene!
Wow all these scenes should have been in the movies.
Great vid
Actually Padme’ didn’t die of a broken heart. She died because Emperor Palpatine transfered her life force into Anakin so he could survive and live on his legacy as the servant of Palpatine until the day he faced his true fears of Sidious and killed the Sith Lord.
This isn't canon. This is theory.
Entry #3 on your list was what the fans wanted to see for quite some time. They were finally shown to the public first in 1997 to celebrate the 20th anniversary, and were finally released on the Blu-Ray collection in 2011.
By the time Luke got to Toshe Station, the battle was already over. That’s why they doubted him.
5:10 Can i just say that Leia is remembering her adoptive mother, Breha, who she thinks is her real mother. This is not a plot hole!
I think everyone gets that as the backstory and it is not Padme that she remembers.
I once saw a cut where Toshi Station was placed after Luke watches the incomplete recording of Lea and before R2 is gone. This was perfect: First the pacing is already slowed down at this point, second it explains why R2 could get that far before Luke returns from sighing at the double sunset.
It has been revealed how to become a force ghost in the clone wars series...
Only Yoda seems to have actually gone through the difficult trials too. Everyone else apparently got it for free with a copy of the movie.
@@SophiaAphrodite well obi wan had quite some time to do it between ep 3 and 4 sooo
@@sockosophie3132 but Anakin learned it by osmosis when he killed Obi Wan.
Great video, thanks for posting!

"Are some rebels doing it in the closet?" - Vadar

10:10 Shadows of the Empire was a great game, and an AWESOME book. it fills in so much from ESB to RotJ
I think Lucas was right to cut the tosche station scene
It looked like luke was a desert fisher fishing for rats. It also looked like a completely different movie
Nicely Done mate 👍👍
David Bloyd it might have helped if her mother had ever been a character in the films, as people have no point of reference.
eLJaybud. Watch the end of Episode III again. You will see Bail Organa bring the baby to his wife on his homeworld.
On page 2 of the young Leia novel by Claudia Gray, it says:
"Leia felt a small quiver in her belly, equal parts nerves and anticipation. This was the biggest day in her life since her first Name Day, when her parents had taken her into the throne room and declared her their daughter by adoption and by love-"
Adoptive mother, not step mother
Luke specfically asked her if she remembered her real mother
The deleted scene in TLJ with the "village raiders" was such a nice addition to old Luke's new grumpy persona and a perfect way to add depth to his teachings while remaining entertaining. Instead we had a long ass canto bight scene xD
I'm usually all for Star Wars references, but many of the ones in this video seem shoehorned in there :/
Thanks gamingclick. :) I've got more on the way, so *subscribe* to catch them all!
Finally a good screen rant video
Some of these scenes should had been the film's.
All of these scenes should have been in the films
*should have
*films (plural, not possessive)
The scene with Biggs on tattooine is in a star wars book word for word
Some movies would benefit from removing parts of the movie. For instance..."The Last Jedi" could have been cut by 2 hours and 31 minutes and it would be perfect.
I always liked the "Luke Working on his Lightsaber" scene. Then again, adding all of the original Star Wars scenes creating more of the original trilogy is fine by me...except for the Empire Strike's Back weird Wampa attack.
Lea is talking about her adoptive mother. Give me break. That's the only mother she knows.
Luke's question to her was "Leia... do you remember your mother? Your real mother?"
alvallac21 she had a step mother AND an adoptive mother so she had 2 moms already. She thought one of them was her real one
I wonder how this archived footage was discovered & if their is more from the first StarWars film because I heard their was more with Biggs, Wedge, & Luke doing a X-Wing adventure in the canyons on Tatooine shooting wamprats?
that was the radio drama
@@irottaalfurinn2539 oh thanks that's the first time I ever got a.close answer lol! I really was hoping they had a screen movie scene but now at least I know it was actually apart of the film but just on radio i suppose
would have been good if you explained then let the deleted scenes play with sound instead of talking over it. you would thing we would like to hear what they say in the movie instead of you!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Some of the Tosche stations made it past edit originally.
There was a rare film format that only 4 theaters used which received a previous edit. One of those theaters was the drive in where I lived, so when I saw the original release a good 30 times, it was with those scenes intact.
These scenes were before the dark times, before Disney and their ilk!
All of those deleted scenes fill in the blanks and would make the films more awesome.
nothing could have saved the garbage fire that is the last jedi but i will say that having some of these scenes instead of the tit milk or leaia poppins scene would have helped.
with Luke inappropriately touching the sea cow, he is qualified to run for President in 2020.
The alternate exchange between Finn and Phasma would’ve made the film more tolerable.
“Uncivilized furbies”
“Undomesticated carebears”
omg
I find that is the problem with US movies... Everything needs to be shown on screen. Nothing can be left to the imagination of how or why something has happened. Everything needs to be on screen otherwise the audience can't follow it !
Omg that its a trap joke you made was a pretty good one XD
Deleting all of the Last Jedi would have been an improvement.
Agreed lol.
Except for the one fight scene that was actually pretty good.
It's not the script I would have written (which matters not) or the one Mark Hamill would have written (rather more important). I think it would be interesting to have fans write complete alternate scripts that feature the same characters and concepts but nothing else.
And yet the Prequels were just perfectly fine, Midichloreans and all....
Not numbering the original trilogy as Episodes 4, 5 and 6 would definitely have been an improvement.
I love that snowtrooper snack-trap. XD
hard to believe that in over 40 yrs together that Han would have only shot the bowcaster once. yet another example of the horrible writing in that movie!
Rian Johnson, we do not speak it’s name.
*its (possessive, not "it is")
Toney M. You just did
Undomesticated Care Bears...I love it!
If Rey is the last Skywalker, she technically kissed her cousin or maybe stepbrother Kylo Ren
I think it would be cool to have a version of each of the films including deleted scenes
Endor is a moon not a planet...
Endor is the planet, but they are on the moon of it. (Just like Yavin is the gas giant, while Yavin 4 is the 4th moon.. although it's also the system name at the same time...)
Endor actually IS a moon. It's just inhabited.
Endor is a moon. starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Endor
Endor is a planeetttttttttt, and hasss a mooooiooooooon
Endor is the planet. The movie takes place on "the forest moon of Endor"
Completely agree with everything... except the Wampas!
It's intimated that Yoda can hear Qui-Gon's voice whilst meditating, as Anakin turns the sand people into luncheon meat.
I'm not buying anything to do with TLJ
and yet the Prequels were just fine?
It matters not.
Do you hear that?
That is the sound of *a thousand new fans* a thousand new fans *thousand new fans* a thousand new fans coming to replace you.
Leia's memory about her mom might be about her adopted mom or just a lie that was told and she made a false memory for. Especially since Luke doesn't remember padme and the fact they would've only seen her for 10 seconds as newborns before she died
i've got my parents old laserdisc player & disks. just dont have anything that i can use to connect to a modern tv
What are the connectors on the player?
Just use composite(yellow plug) from the LD player, since LD is composite on the disk. Any other output(s-video, component, RGB, et cetera) is going to be processed from that signal. You tv will most likely do it better unless you have a very late and very high end LD player. Or use a external upscaler.
I've seen a great many "deleted scene" vids on here but this one truly was correct, had these key scenes been included, they would have made the film a lot better and more meaningful than it was. Perhaps someone with the editing skills and backing will someday soon add these deleted scenes back into the films and release the new extended films anew.
I always assumed she ment her adoptive mom in that scene
*meant
Luke specifically asks her about her "real mother" (using those words).
I was super excited when I heard that Lucas could still release the originals I suppose Disney had an agreement when he sold the rights that he reserves that right
Padme doesn't die of a broken heart. Palpatine killed her. Pay closer attention to the movies.
I literally came down on the comments to write this, but yours was the first comment XD
Same and maybe Leia say padme through the force
Palpatine did that? What movie you watched?
Read the Legends Cannon asshat Padme didn't die, she was placed in a force trance/sleep by Master Yoda.
I thought Vader unintentionally killed her by force choke.
In TCW series, Yoda and Qui-Gon did speak about the whole Force Ghost concept.
I was hoping for the scenes themselves, not a guy talking over them!

alvallac21 thanks
The force ghost is the subject of the last arc of Clone wars released on Netflix. I'm glad they are being clone wars back by the way.
What was wrong with the plan to save Han it seamed pretty forward to me that they had a plan A,B,C and D in place guess it was too simple for people to see and had too be put in stone for them to understand. Its channels like this that makes people dumber.

Very interesting, thank you so much!
Mirrored the charm? No, no it didn't. Everything about "Force Awkens" is just cheap copying. It has no charm, original or mirrored.
No one could possibly agree more. But, like React, this channel is bias toward SJWs. :(
I was gonne give the force awakens the benefit of doubt as it looked like a lot of stuff was going on that would be revealed in the next 2 movies and I didn't want to be that guy ranting about stuff that is later seen as great forshadowing of huge twists. But after seeing the last Jedi, I think I have to agree with you.
My son likes the movies 😂
But he's 5 so I'ma cut him some slack
Force Awakens was a copy paste lacking any charm. And they are just kiss asses.
All of these made Me go:
WHY DID THEY NOT INCLUDE THESE?! THERE WAS NO REASON NOT TO!
Qui-gon actually helped explain to Yoda how to become a force ghost in the clone wars.
The Last Jedi was SH$T!!! :/
