The amount of investment and construction this arena has brought on is staggering. Where's the negativity now? To go from a stubby and artificially short skyline with nothing above 490ft because of a commuter airport and with little to no growth or change over 20+ years to construction of several buildings at once with one edging in on 800ft is pretty dramatic. The Delta will likely be in the 600ft range and there's other projects in the works as well including projects from developers outside the city. A skyline transformation like this is once in a lifetime and rare. For those who said it won't work this is all the proof needed to show what local investment and vision can accomplish when business leaders take initiative.
I grew up under the influence of Edmonton in northern alberta and lived there 1991 to 1993. Things were stagnant there. I'm extremely impressed with the amount of investment. I say that because I lived downtown and the business people disappeared and mostly transient people showed up. This will add more vitality like calgary has
Please spend 1/4 of a second to name the streets and give the location. This looks like a typical Disneyland ‘developers perspective’ with excitement injected by the litre via music and graphics. Is there a building ? Please explain.
Love this. Can't wait to see it in person when I move back to Edmonton next year. Of course, it'll still be under construction, but I still can't wait to see it.
Oh yes, best thing to happen to Edmonton. For the amount of money this arena district is going to cost I could retire for the next 6,818 years. Who knows maybe one day I'll even be able to afford a decent seat.
Tim Best The only positives of the new arena district are the new jobs that it will create and venues that it will attract to the city. With over half of the arena district being funded by taxpayer dollars I feel as though Mr. Katz is getting the much better end of the deal with the city. And son, I'm older than you. Do you know if the City of Edmonton has any kind of clause that requires Mr. Katz to keep the Oilers in Edmonton for X number of years since we invested so much taxpayer dollars? What about a lease fee that we could charge Mr. Katz?
***** Nothing like a multi-billionaire with an estimated net worth over $2.6B to threaten to move our team to Seattle because we're not letting him bully us as much as he'd like. No, I have very little sympathy nor love for Mr. Katz. The way those negotiations went, to me he's just another Peter Pocklington. I love the Edmonton Oilers, but for Katz this is just another good potential lucrative investment especially since we forked over so much money already.
***** I will try to be more open-minded towards Mr. Katz, mostly because of what I read here. Philanthropy[edit] In October 2006 Katz announced a $7 million donation to the University of Alberta Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences and Faculty of Law. Matched by the province, the gift was the largest donation ever to a Canadian pharmacy school. The west wing of the Health Research Innovation Facility at the corner of 87th Avenue and 114th Street in Edmonton has been named The Katz Group Centre for Pharmacy and Health Research. In 2009 Katz donated $20 Million to Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto and founded The Daryl A Katz Centre For Urgent And Critical Care.[citation needed] Katz has also given "millions" to the Stollery Children's hospital in Edmonton, as well as supporting public events.[10] Between 2005 and 2010, Katz and his wife have donated "over $50 million" to organizations and institutions across Canada.[11][12]
Eric Albrecht upon agreement of the new arena district, Katz signed an agreement that the Edmonton Oilers will remain the Edmonton Oilers & will remain in based out of the City Of Edmonton for the next 30 years.
Unrealistic, none of the vehicles are pickup trucks.
So beautiful
OUTDOOR RAVES
I read the comments then watched the video.
I Lol'd @ the end part of the video because I read "outdoor raves"
This arena is the best thing ever to happen to Edmonton besides the 5 Stanley Cups!

Yes because the city should consider "Eric's retirement" when planning for future infrastructure. You just be quiet now and let the adults talk.
