Ditto on the last GSI mug (my personal favorite). I found that if you put hot anything in it, it has an irritating tendency to push the sealed lid up passed the rubber seal (which can spill or leak if the mug tips over in my tent!). I always make sure the sippy top is opened when I first put the lid on to avoid this issue. Thank you for sharing. Cheers from Montreal QC
We have the same "earned the right to be in our packs" GSI cup. I could not figure out why the nooks and cranny either. I like to make my home-dehydrated meals in mine and drink my coffee out of my Toaks 550. Last trip, I was trying out a GSI aluminum cup. I had forgotten that aluminum holds heat forever and neither my HotLips or silicone band cover the rolled edge of the cup. Had to let my coffee cool off quite a bit, and it is very slippery on the bottom. I lost a cup of almost ready water last trip. Not sure that cup will go again. Good to see that I am not the only one still looking for absolute perfection in a backpacking cup.
Thanks KuntryRD that video was about 15 minutes and deleted out some good thoughts but my RUclips analytics said the average viewer was only 3 minutes before clicking off. Lol
Great video! Good choice, I have been using the Infinity mug myself for several years. To get it to fit in my Snow Peak 900 I removed the nylon loop handle.
Nice vid SH. I have the same thoughts w/cleaning that lid. For many applications, I use the lid from a 28 oz. tomato can. Remove with a cut from the side can opener and attach the hvac aluminum backed tape as a tab to remove the lid from the cup. This works very well. Use it with the collapsible cups to keep in, bugs out.
They are all very interesting drinking cups. Thank you for sharing. There is nothing worse than having to pick the bugs out of your hot drinks. Stay safe and have a wonderful weekend 👍🏽😂🇦🇺
Senior Hiker, you have me laughing again. I love the idea of buying your gear for your wife!🤣 I sort of like the collapsible cups, but I’m really interested in the one with the lid. Thanks for sharing! Monk
I got myself a GSI fairshare Mug 2 and Infiniti mug in dark Blue cousie 😊 because I like blue. The mug fits inside the Fairshare mug just like a Russian toy named "Matrioszka". You can Google it if you don't know that. The mugs are great 👍They are my two main cups when i go bushcrafting
I did look it up. I've seen that fairshare mug but didn't think it would in with my gear. It was just a little to large for me. Thanks for sharing that information. GSI makes awesome gear.
@@SeniorHiker77 yes, and i got in the past a great GSI hallulite kettle. It's aluminum anodized and has the same feature as the legendary stainless steel one 😊- the arc on the handle for mounting on a tripod on campfires😁. I love GSI products. Cheers my friend Senior Hiker. I really love your videos just like Kevin aka Megawoodswalker videos. It's a shame that he died at age 50 😢, to young to die
That's a wide variety of mugs you have there! I've not added one to my gear list yet...been thinking about it though. Serial consumption of my meals is a bit tedious.
I need something that will seal. That is a deal breaker for me. I use an old small size peanut butter jar. It is much lighter, easy to replace when it wears out and very cheap. The down side is it will miss form a little the first time you put in boiling water but is ok after that. The best part is the threaded lid seals completely. It weighs about a 1/3 of your cup. I make my own cozy but I usually don't even take it because I carry it in my hip belt cup holder. I wish I could find something with a threaded seal that will keep its shape better. Have looked for years with no luck.
You have a great collection of mugs and an interesting story about how you have progressed from one to another. Enjoyed this, but I generally just drink from a smart water bottle. Happy trails.
I have the GSI mug but I haven't used it in a long time. Its only 3oz but somewhere along the line i just started using my Toaks 550ml pot. Always interesting to see what others use though 👍
I have the 550, 650 and the 750 but usually I cook food from home but those cups are good when I'm on longer hikes then they come into play. Thanks BB.
I love this review!! We often neglect the small things that matter so much!! I have the Sea to Summit pot with a lid and love it except cleaning the damn thing!! The GSI you have is cool too!! Ultimately, I usually bring my Jetboil, collapsible pot, AND the same GSI mug you have!! Feather light and awesome!!! Great video!
I will definitely have to try “I got it for you Yobo” next time I come home with an expensive piece of gear. Don’t think it will keep me out of the dog house. Definitely made me smile! God bless.
I’m with you on the GSI infinity Mug. I was thinking about getting a fancy Snow Peak double wall titanium mug, then I saw the GSI and found it just as light, more practical, and WAY cheaper. The lid is a bit annoying but overall this mug works very well. I really like the cozy aspect...
It has lots of cons. The cosie gets wet and you end up with wet mug in your backpack 😂 and it's not good quality, after time you see wear and tear in the cousie. The mug doesn't contain heat for too long because it's single wall design, third the handle is a joke, four-the lid pops up when poured hot water in the mug
We’ve been wondering about those collapsible cups... thanks for all this info! Our son is out doing a scout camp out this weekend! Hope you’re having a great weekend!
I don't think I answered this comment yet but will be doing a 2,000 subscriber give-a-way soon. Can you give me the name of the program you use to auto find the winner?
Thanks for the video, I really enjoyed it. I have too many cups and mugs too 😊 I bought the Sea to Summit mug last year along with the collapsible plate and bowl, but I've never used it. Don't know why I didn't. Maybe it's the bright yellow green color of your mug that attracts bugs? My mug is orange but the bowl has the same color as your mug. I have to test it when the summer and bugs comes to Denmark soon 😉
Don't worry I have so much gear that's still in the box, I might do a giveaway when I get to 2,000 subscribers so stay tuned. My yellow LanShan tent seems to attract bugs in the spring. 👍
I have the same GSI orange mug, great minds.... My lid is tight and sometimes hard to pop off without spilling. I do like having the lid though. My BRS 3000 stove and lighter and sponge fit in it when I camp light. Then I put it in my pot. I'm not so keen on the collapsing style cups. Do you use any bug spray on your ears? I'm gonna try some Natrapel Picaridin wipes next time I'm around bugs and stop with the Deet if possible.
No never use in insect repellent on my skin but I do spray my pants, socks and shoes with permethrin. I learnt my lesson using deet on my tent, it will melt the ripstop nylon. 👌
I always wanted to try a collapsible one but first the no lid got me so maybe the gsi is worth a try. But what about getting hot in my hand? I love my hot tea. I try to keep clean up as easy as I can so no books and crannies 😉 overnighter your right maybe. But if I get my gear out IM STAYING OUT MORE THEN INE NIGHT. Lol
The last cup that earned the place in your backpack, you didn't tell us why it earned the place except for that you liked the sippy cup opening. Tell us why you like it!!!
The GSI mug is superbly designed and just works great, the best I have found to date!
I like the design but the lid could be improved.

Thanks for the compliment but it's hard to come up with good solid videos every week. Glad you found this video and liked it. ✌
I enjoy the show. Especially Han-gun-mal:)
I don't think I used and hangu mal in this video. Lol
just rewatched this one John. Miss ya. See you soon in VA
Very soon. 🫰
Need a good mug for the Outdoors especially for your favourite brew. I have got a few mugs but seem to always use may enamel one very traditional lol
Use the one that works for you.👌
Good Stuff.. That last one look interesting... I like GSI products..
GSI makes some good stuff. Thanks Billy.🚴♂️

Great options to use with your beverages. Take Care and Keep Exploring The Outdoors.

Good comparisons! Thanks - we’ve got the GSI that you pack, and we like it too! 🥾🥾
Thumbs up for mentioning Dixie. Glad someone else realized how tiny the s2s cups are
You're certainly welcome.✌
Cups and more cups.. A really nice look at the bunch.. The one with the folding handle is cool !
Thanks Max, I find them all interesting but only use the one.✌👍
I love the GSI too!

Senior Hiker 77 Your welcome 🙏🏽
Those all seemed really nice. I think I might like one of those collapsible ones just for drinking out of.
The open top not good in the summertime. Lol

Great video. I have that one too. Crow✌️
Thanks Crow. 👍
Thanks for sharing the information. Have a great evening.🙂👍

The bugs get strained out by drinking through your headnet around here. Hahahahaha😂😂 Good thinking on the different cups.

I was just checking amazon and that GSI Mug is now $22.00. Wow
My double wall food jug is keeping my food for preelong time
That's great Radoslaw 👍
I'm like you I don't like all the ''nooks and crannies'' to have to try to clean it's a pain. Good video.

Hey! Just got back from the Foothills Trail. We need to see a video of your wife using her new gift! Lol Got a bunch of mugs myself. 👍👍
That sound like a video coming with Nancy using her new backpack. I thought you would get a kick out of that reference. Lol
