Have you tried both drives? What are your thoughts?

90 % of the pivot drives problem is the propeller, In my opinion. Ive got one, did 3.5 miles fishing shorelines yesterday in 3 hours. One day i tied my buddies boat along side mine, while he was making lunch...i decided to pedal us across to a shady cove. Well with that extra 275 lbs tied on, the pivot drive pedalled smooth as silk. I wish Nucanoe would make a few propeller options, seems they put a propeller suited to max loading. Most people running lighter than that by a bunch.
Want to print a few and test them?

I love that you don't care and let it fly.

    I appreciate the rambling.
I haven't tried both drives...I only have the 120 PDL and love it. Solid system.

It is a solid system and it’s tough to leave it. Thanks for taking the time to watch.

I have both boats. But no pivot drive. But the Frontier 12 itself is a slow boat in the water. Paddling is much slower/difficult than my predator. If it weren’t for using a trolling motor I wouldn’t have the F12. But since I do I love it.

I could see it being a solid kayak for the trolling motor.

Nick, thanks for being objective and honest in your review. Coming from a OT BW132 PDL which works well for me.

Thanks Nick. As a 120 PDL owner I still like to hear about the industry and appreciate your honest input. Hope all is well.

I am new to fishing. But my nephew is teaching me. So I guess you can say old dogs can learn new tricks. But I am still doing my research when it comes to pedal kayaks and wanting to fish from one. I appreciate your honest viewpoint. I live in Texas right by the Gulf of Mexico. And I have the enjoyment of both worlds of saltwater and freshwater fishing.

Living along the Gulf is great. Tons of fishing options all year.

I had a nucanoe back in 17 or so. It’s more of a boat. Hard to paddle, no pedal drive at the time. I mounted a front trolling motor on it and it was great. I got an incredible deal on the 106mk , 1700 new! I’m getting a 106 pdl in February so I can take my wife or a friend. Old town is the best I have found.

Nick - I hope you’ll have an opportunity to compare the OT PDL to the Native propel drive. I have a Salty but am really liking that Titan X!

Tried both. The pdl drive is best drive on the market. The pivot drive is garbage.

As someone looking to longline troll for trout...speed is important. Just not to the same degree. 1.5-2.5 mph is typical. Open deep water is common. But nice to be able to cruise over 3mph for salmon occasionally..
Stability is more important than speed.. Quality is more important also. Control is more important. Steering drift when freehanded.. fighting a fish. Working on tackle. I'm a big guy. Am I wrong to consider the Nucanoe? I can get into a Nucanoe unlimited for $700 less than Old Town pdl.
