In my country, Canada, if a minor under age 12 commits a criminal act, the parents are criminally liable for their actions. If property is damaged, the parents are also liable to pay for it.

Why was it wrong? He was physically abusing her and put her in hospital overnight. And she thought he had injured that boy on purpose. If more parents turned their kids into the police instead of sweeping their bad behaviour under the carpet then there would be less teenage thugs running around stabbing people and taking drugs. And it's "did" the wrong thing, not "done" the wrong thing.
