  • The complete lore analysis of Assassin's Creed Valhalla, exploring the historical and present day stories, the Isu lore and the mythical worlds, including the game's ending and its connection to the rest of the franchise. Please note that at 10:35, I identified the artifact as an Apple of Eden due to its seemingly solid gold color, but it's most likely to be a Crystal Ball, the same one that Ratonhnhake:ton found in Assassin's Creed III, passed down through generations.

    The way this game referenced past games like the voice from the eye being Ezio from AC2, or even the apple that you get in AC3, and just keeping true to the lore was beautifully done! Is there a way to get Darby in every AC game from now on? Mans is the only one to respect it and treasure it 😭

    Assassins creed is 1 giant cliff hanger full of mystery that we wont ever fully know.
    Its kind of the selling point of the game.
    Ppl who complain about confusion of the story dont grasp the concept of it.
    The idea that theres a reality in a reality in a reality in a reality it can always go either way in either reality of any time line.
    There is a infinite amount of possibilities and outcomes.
    The entire would could end but... that would just be the end of the time line in one wave length.
    Not the end of the story all together.

    I genuinely didn't expect AC Valhalla would be this good
    I knew it'd be good enough because it's written by Darby Mcdevitt, but this was a masterpiece

      It’s such bad writing.
      Do all the people who are reincarnations of Gods know they are? Basim obviously knows he is Loki as he mentions his son being taken away by a dear friend to Eivor. But Sigurd doesn’t clearly know he is Tyr. Does Halfdan know he is Thor? Eivor has no idea he is Odin. Does Faravid? Does Svala?
      Why do some remember and some not.
      In fact, why don’t they all recognize each other as they look identical?
      If they know, why would any of them care for dying if they know they will be reincarnated and be reborn immediately after? All the 9 ISU weren’t just randomly reincarnated together once at 870AD. They’ve been reincarnating over and over again since 75000BCE. It’s terrible writing.

      @@gold333 Sigurd knows he is Tyr after knowing Fulke, as showed in the Cent arc, Eivor don't know she is Odin likely because the wolf bited her neck at the same place Odin put the thing (some kind of chip) he used in order to reincarnate, Svala had vision about Freia when she was old, we don't know much about Halfdan and Faravid.
      Basim recognizes Sigurd, he dosen't recognize Eivor because Odin reincarnated in a female body.

      No Eivor and Aelfred made peace, if you get to the father in the order list you don’t kill him. It was Aelfred he was given to The title and did not want it but took it anyways. Eivor meets with him at the very end of the game and they talk it over. Actually, Ragnarök is more likely the Human-Isu War that happened just before the coronal flare from the Sun and probably was still ongoing when the Great Catastrophe took place. It fits neatly into the lore, because otherwise...how will they fight the Sun with swords? Said war would have had recently the 3 hardest years out of the 10 total when the Tova Catastrophe started, as the myth states that Ragnarök will take place after "3 continuous winters". So, Norse Ragnarök lore was the peak of that war by the time world was affected by the solar flare.
    My interpretation is that as Isus had a caste system, they also had inner political problems (as we humans have). Loki is a half-breed, perhaps from a political marriage or an agent meant to seek an alliance, so he lived within the Norse gods (Loki was a Jottun in myth). Then, he had a son with Aletheia, which is described in Oddyssey as a rebel of the system, perhaps because she was of a lesser caste (as she was not made a goddess like other mayor Isu, but the idealization of "truth"). Loki could have helped the humans to rebel, as he was a mischevious character: trisckter or backstaber. Fenrir, their son, could have been one of the rebel Isu Lieutenants which helped the humans directly. The Aesir and Vannir, which were allies, discovered this and tried to imprision him and spared Loki just to gain his info for later. Whilst capturing Fenrir, he could have injured Tyr, so the myth states he lost his arm, as Odin flanked him. Once Loki took notice, he outsmarted the Aesir and Vannir in order to kill Baldr, which may be Odin's close guard assigned to the task, while he was trying to free Fenrir from prision. They captured him and locked him away as a direct punnishment of Baldr's death. Somehow, Loki managed to escape prision and released his sons in order to fuel the Human-Isu war. Afterwards, as said before, the Great Catastrophe started. In that war, Fenrir managed to encounter Odin and kill him. This interpretation may also help to understand how the original Loki started the end of the Isu Era and his reincarnation became a Hidden One/Assassin, whose philosophy was to free mankind from its "unnatural shackles" put by those who think like or take advantage of Isu tech in order to gain power.

    - What happened to the other sages and who did you say was Thor reincarnation?
    - What are Layla and Desmond going to do when they find the perfect timeline, that timeline will implicate various things. First, Desmond will still be alive; second, does that mean that we are going to have a multiverse type thing or history will just rewrite itself and all these events will cease to exist, (maybe Basim will be the one trying to prevent this)
    - Is it just me, but i want know what the f... hapenned to Otso Berg??
    - As they seem to be going to use the whole idea of the sages back again, will Desmond`s son reaper?
    - Above all, do you think it will be nice to have the next game in a purely assassins vs templar setting, now that it seems we ve moved on from this proto templar - proto assassins era?

If we take the myth events to be 1-to-1 translations of the real (Isu) events, then Loki's son must have been very powerful and somehow posed a threat to Odin. My thoughts exactly. If we were to assume that the Jotnar are basically the Roman pantheon of "Gods", Loki is technically a Jotnar who was adopted by Odin (by a spell/oath/agreement whatever you may call) which technically makes him and his children a part of the Roman pantheon of Gods (the tech savvy race) by origin. That would mean Loki & Alethia are technically the "rogue" Readers who have been trying to help humanity (similar to Minerva but more guerrilla) but have been portrayed as bad guys/tricksters solely because their approach has been considered deceptive to their respective "kings". Possibly be the reason their son was targeted by Odin after they were found and was somehow killed as well and hence the name Mad One.

    The ending of this game and the revelations that were revealed in the story makes me want to jump back in for a 2nd play though and I just finished it all endings yesterday. So good!! Masterpiece. Masterful writing in Valhalla.

    Such a shame that so much of this game's great story gets bogged down by its unnecessary length. Explained like this, it makes perfect sense and is really profound. But playing through it, it all feels so disconnected and gets lost in the weeds of its 100+ hour length.

    One thing to note regarding different cast, is that sigaurd mentions, when you meet him in settlement after saving him.
    He mentions that he's roman god mars, who was the god of war and justice. So does that mean tyr was one of the roman god equivalent in norse mythology.
    But if we go with that then, odin representative in roman pantheon is jupiter, and we know he's not odin.
    Unless tyr was from roman cast, I dunno, it bother me, something to think about.

    • @codyconner4557
      @codyconner4557 3 года назад

      The Romans associated the ancient germanic version of Odin with their god mercury when writing about the germanic people. However you are right that they associated Tyr with Mars

    • @fodspeed
      @fodspeed 3 года назад

      @@codyconner4557 then it could mean, that it was still the same isu, and they showed other people from roman pantheon, such as odin as mercury, tyr as mars.

      How could you not? They were quite obvious in the previous titles that the ISU were all the ''Gods'' from various different human cultures who also interacted with each other.

      Because it's likely that Layla and Desmond together are the only way to find a solution to save the world from the sun. Layla needed to be in the grey with him, and to do that, she needed to get to Yggdrasil. This puts Basim in a position to get the staff and have Layla's consciousness within the supercomputer working with Desmond to find a solution. Loki and Alethia's plans are fulfilled, and the world doesn't burn.

    Serveral things that I wanna ask and I really hope someone answers:
    1° how does reda survive all that time if that really happened in assassin's creed story?
    2° pretty cool how everything connects, I just realised that if that's the reason to make possible the gender choice thing it makes less sense. I mean, okey the animus understands that there are two dna in the same body but for that same reason you would think okey from the beginning odin was a man not a woman, for both female and male eivor, so he only had one gender. If the animus makes a representation of a younger odin with eivor, if you choose the male gender, where does that leave the female dna ? I mean odin was a man, so technically if you choose male eivor the animus would see two male dna, not a male and a female. This only makes me think that, not only because the true idea from developers was to make eivor a woman, the choosing gender thing is truly only a thing to make fun the game and that truly the canon option is female eivor because of this reason. Unless somehow odin looked like a man but was both female and male at the same time.
    3. If that's eivor, they didn't hire the right voice actor, otherwise I would have noticed.
    4° all the simulation stuff started with the messages that one called the messenger left and alethea altered. But that doesn't explain how layla and alethea met.
    5° please tell me this basim and alethea thing is not gonna be aita and junno again trying to do something evil. I mean where would that leave to all we knew about alethea being a good girl that rebeled against her own to protect humans. After all, I thought all this sage thing was only aita and juno's doing. Not like other isu managed to do it. Although pretty cool that the ygdrassyl project was the reincarnation thing.
    6°I think I understand why not just simply tell kassandra to go free basim (but also I don't understand why they didn't avoid basim getting trapped there but well). But why make layla live the trials kassandra went through to control the stuff if she was gonna hold it for so little?
    7° I'm starting to believe that somehow all that is happening right now in the assassin's creed universe is like things the isu are trying from the past, talking to the future. Like all this that we are seeing are simulations somehow, all of them necessary to reach the final goal, save the world but like the isu can't truly see the right future(simulation) to go to that one right away from their era

    Yo id be so excited if the next game is basim in the modern world, rather than using the animus we play as basim himself who is a walking time machine finally taking the fight and destroying abstergo or at least hurting them

  • @Verendrye

    I believe Loki is just as corrupted as Odin, and he may serve as antagonist in the future.
    The main theme which lingered throughout the game was the idea of "betrayal". Of course, Eivor believed it was about Sigurd, when all this time it was about Loki betraying Odin.
    Eivor, had she fulfilled her fate as becoming Odin, she could've killed Loki and thus end the cycle of Ragnarok. What Darby suggested here is that Loki and Aletheia will unconsciously repeat the Ragnarok because they want to have a physical form again and to save their son.
    Also, we might have a hint of the fact that the End of the World will begin (again) once the same narrative will repeat itself, with Fenrir and all the reincarnations of Isu being again in physical form (in Norse mythology it is clearly stated that Ragnarok begins with the birth of Fenrir and death of Baldr).
    So the key will either be about humanity avoiding such a narrative return and exiting the cycle (and for this they will have to kill Loki and destroy the pieces of Eden) or either about letting Ragnarok come again, destroying again everything.
    This is how I see it right now.

    Really loved this analysis. In the secret ending video with the life tree, there was a symbol that looked exactly like the Abstergo symbol (about thirty seconds in, surrounded by a bright circle on the machines UI). Have you found any context around that?

    • @RinoTheBouncer
      @RinoTheBouncer  3 года назад +2

      Much appreciated! The way I see it, the Abstergo symbol has previously appeared in Isu inscriptions, so I assume Abstergo took inspiration of their logo from Isu symbolisms. After all, the Order of the Ancients (a proto-Templar faction) were very much deifying the Isu, so I wouldn’t be surprised that the mystery and their old interest in them caused them to use their symbolisms as their trademark.

    Still wondering about Loki's son real identity. We see him as a beast in the Asgard Arc, yet we know this to be a mythology-infused simulation/dream... What was his true nature, then? And what did Isu Odin really do to him, for Basim to inherit such a hatred?

    • @RinoTheBouncer
      @RinoTheBouncer  3 года назад +3

      I’m assuming like I said about Odin’s resentment to Aletheia likely being from a different caste, perhaps he had a hand in denying him a spot in society and perhaps even healthcare and he died

    • @chrismendoza5666
      @chrismendoza5666 3 года назад +1

      I had an updated thought on this. Fenrir is Eivor in the future. The rope is odins connection to eivor from the life tree project. Fenrir attacking and killing odin is eivor defeating odins conscience from his body. The aesir sages I believe might be a one time gig whereas Aita was improved upon thanks to juno to keep reincarnating

    If you want the Faravid neck mark thing to make sense.
    He is the reincarnation of Jörmungandr aka the world sepent also Loki's son like Fenrir.
    At ragnarok Thor and Jörmungandr fight and he also poisons him, i mean big ass snake right.
    Halfdan is Thor's reincarnation (Confirmed) like Eivor-Odin, Sigurd-Tyr etc.
    And Faravid did poison HalfDan
    Brilliant!!

    • @OG21020
      @OG21020 3 года назад

      Eivor's a sage. She had Odin's memories besides her own though oddly, given the Isu process, when the Isu sequence triggered in her bloodline, she should have been born a man. Instead it's the opposite so something must have gone awry in the imprint process or the formation of the embryo. It would be nice to know if Eivor is the first reincarnation of Odin since his death.

    I have just realized how Lethe's water (Oddyssey) and Suttungr's mead (Valhalla) resemble the same thing and idea. Lethe's water was meant to be a drink consumed by souls of the ancient greeks in order to fade their memories before they reincarnaite (a Platonic concept not rare to indoeuropean culture). Perhaps it was a trick of the Isu set to humans so that when they searched the computer Yggdrassil, the may seize a fake one which didn't backup their memories, but erase them. The real Suttungr's (Jupiter's) mead (serum) was the one to keep genetic memory and worth hidding.
