    Wave 3 of the Booster Course Pass was just announced in its entirety! I don't plan to make any more videos about it, but if you want to know my thoughts:
    Four of the eight courses match all the leaks, but the positions of Boo Lake, Peach Gardens, and Rock Rock Mountain were switched, and we got Maple Treeway early instead of Waluigi Stadium. This actually matches with a leak late last month from the same person who leaked the prefetches, so it wasn't completely unexpected. Notably, this reduces the credibility of the tag leak and to some extent the prefetch leak, but I wouldn't give up all hope with them yet. I think Nintendo caught onto everyone predicting the entire DLC and swapped around the order of the releases where they could. Alternatively, they could have just been more finished with Maple Treeway than Waluigi Stadium, but that doesn't explain why the other courses were swapped around. Moreover, I don't think these are the only swaps they've made through the rest of the DLC. I would still expect the same courses with prefetches to release eventually, but perhaps in a different order. However, this throws the whole debate about empty slots and courses without prefetches out of wack. Also, this means we're still waiting for a GCN course to release in the DLC, even though there were supposed to be at least four. At this point, the DLC is no longer completely predictable. Props, Nintendo!
    On another note, Boo Lake, Rock Rock Mountain, and 3DS Rainbow Road are getting anti-gravity sections that don't last the entire course, and Boo Lake is also getting an underwater section, which is exciting! It helps to make these courses feel more like they were designed for this game instead of just being ported from Tour. Maple Treeway is also getting a half-pipe section, and more footage of Merry Mountain's anti-gravity and half-pipe section was shown. It's worth noting that a recent Twitter ad from Nintendo UK shows even more gameplay of that same section in splitscreen, including how the half-pipe behaves in-game. Also, am I the only one who doesn't like the new Berlin Byways remix? It's very different from the original, and it sounds muddy and bland.

      Agreed on the theory of nintendo swapping out courses specifically because they heard about the leaks and so far nothing has debunked the idea that nintendo already has its courses all planned out and they just need to finish them for both Deluxe and Tour. They swapped out a previously assumed wave 3 track (that notably hasn't come out on Mario kart Tour yet) for a previously assumed wave 6 track (that notably was already out on Mario Kart Tour) so the count on how many games from each previous mario kart are going to be in the booster course pass still applies even if nintendo has clearly swapped around the order in reaction to the leak. No more N64 courses coming and Waluigi Stadium is just coming in a different wave than originally leaked.
      With Boo Lake having come out on MTK in the recent Halloween Tour, it's safe to assume that Peach Garden is coming on Tour soon and while they are now trying to make specific sections of some courses anti-gravity on the DX version they aren't actually changing any of the geometry of the tracks from their MKT versions (both RR 3DS and Boo Lake GBA are already on Mario Kart Tour). These courses are a nice addition to DX but are still mario kart tour tracks but with better textures and parts of the course flip on the anti-gravity mode switch. Safe to say that every single track coming to this boost pass over all 6 waves will be one of three categories:
      - already out on MKT
      - not out on MKT yet but will come out on MKT before being released on booster pass (like Boo Lake coming out on Tour approx a month before being announced for DX)
      - will come out on MKT shortly after DX (like with Coconut Mall and Sky-High Sundae)
      And assuming that all the tracks planned for the booster pass are also being planned for tour that further confirms your theory about a Yoshi's Island themed course and a "Bathroom" course coming in future waves.
      Sidenote: I wonder if the bathroom themed course in wave 6 is going to be a pikmin themed course with pikmin style massively oversized objects for the purposes of hyping up Pikmin 4.

      we're not getting airship fortress sadly. it's going to be Delfino Square. Because it'd datamined in Tour (like Shroom Ridge etc), and, you can see it 2 times in the leaked image. And, if the leaks are true, we'll only be getting one more DS course. So, no way Airship Fortress is coming.

    • @L1N3R1D3R
      @L1N3R1D3R  2 года назад +17

      I didn't mention it in the video, but the images that were supposedly Delfino Square were actually Los Angeles Laps and Amsterdam Drift. Delfino Square is likely coming to Tour, but it isn't any more likely to appear in the final DS slot than Airship Fortress. It could be one of the blank spaces, but I wrote and recorded the script for this video before those leaks came out.

    Finally a really-well made video about this topic! It feels really good to be able to know that there's someone else out there who put all of the clues together in a realistic way. I did this work by myself just out of curiosity (I even did the 3.75 calculus for the city tracks and 1 brand new per year, I was blown up when you showed it) and never thought there would be someone who did the same. I usually never comment on videos, but this one really got me. Plus, the organisation of the speech is excellent, the effects of the video are on point, everything about this videeo is perfect. Excellent job! Looking forward to more :)

  • @L1N3R1D3R
    @L1N3R1D3R  2 года назад +18

    I should clarify why I chose the retro courses that I did to fill the blank spaces, since lots of people are asking about it, and I didn't do the best job of explaining it in the video. I figured that blank spaces could just indicate any data that is not yet finalized, which could mean new Tour courses but could also mean retro courses that aren't finished yet in Tour. According to Mario Wiki, here's a list of courses with assets in Tour that are not yet released for Tour or 8 Deluxe yet, as of the time I finished recording the script for this video:
    GBA Yoshi Desert - PillarAgbyd
    GCN Mushroom Bridge and/or GCN Mushroom City - CarBomb, CarHanachan and CarMushroom (Hanachan = Wiggler)
    Wii Dry Dry Ruins - PillarWiiddr and SandHillWiiddr
    3DS Wuhu Loop and 3DS Maka Wuhu - ClownWuhu and RockWuhu
    After I finished recording the script for this video, GBA Boo Lake, GBA Lakeside Park, DS Delfino Square, and other courses were potentially leaked for Tour based on an alphabetical ordering of courses in Tour that had gaps, which would likely confirm Boo Lake over Broken Pier. Also, GBA Bowser Castle and GCN Waluigi Stadium already line up with slots that are labeled, and DK Mountain is unlikely to appear in the same DLC as Dino Dino Jungle, so I didn't consider them. Since the blank spaces all occupied the third and fourth slots in their cups, it didn't make sense to put a Circuit course there, which eliminated N64 and DS entirely.
    This left GBA, GCN, Wii, and 3DS. 3DS deserved a slot because 3 slots is not enough for the 10 courses that could possibly come over. GCN deserved a slot because it was clear that they had plans for GCN that they were waiting to act on. Then you have GBA and Wii, both of which are already overrepresented in this DLC and at the time only had desert courses left to provide, and I chose Wii largely due to my bias. There's a possibility that they include 3 new Tour courses so that each wave gets one, in which case neither GBA nor Wii would get an extra slot. Also, no, I don't think they'll be RMX courses, as that would be a strange and anticlimactic end to the DLC, and SNES Mario Circuit 3 kinda deconfirmed that for me.
    Also, I should justify my choice of Luigi Circuit, since a lot of people think it's a complete waste. The point of this is to predict what will happen, not be a wishlist of all the best courses that could return. We've seen that Nintendo is not shy of putting filler courses in the DLC, and I don't think that will be any less likely as the DLC progresses. Also, I personally think GCN Luigi Circuit is one of the better circuit courses of the entire series because of the shared road in two directions.

    Now that it's confirmed that halfpipe ramps are making a debut in mario kart 8 (thanks to merry mountain's inclusion as shown in the new trailer), I have extremely high hopes for GCN Waluigi Stadium when it's revealed, and Wii Dry Dry Ruins and Wii DK Summit if they also show up in the future. These courses were greatly improved by the halfpipe ramps in Wii and I feel like they would be worse off without them.

    • @courage1363
      @courage1363 2 года назад

      Waluigi Stadium does have a chance to bring back ramps since it was previously used on MKWii, But the other 2 are likely not going to make it thou since GBA Sunset Wilds is another desert themed track and hopefully SNES Vanilla Lake 1 or 2 should be added because of the banner from Wii's Coconut Mall was shown

    My theory with the blank tracks was that they would be RMX tracks. So each DLC wave would have an original course, and the final wave would have RMX Rainbow Road and RMX Bowser Castle.
    Also, I am very skeptical about DK Summit. It is visible twice in the banner, but the half-pipes are such a prominent part of the stage that I'm not exactly sure how they are going to work that out, unless they add an entire new mechanic to the MK8. To me, this remains the biggest mystery of the DLC.

    this is a good list, but i'd make some changes:
    1. unless they bring back half pipes in mk8 (which is unlikely), i don't think bringing back dk summit is a good idea, considering how much of that course is half pipes (EDIT: half pipes confirmed lol, forget this point)
    2. while the image leak is reliable for courses that weren't released in tour yet (sky high sundae and waluigi stadium), it isn't really reliable for predicting the courses in the booster pass. for example: snes choco island, donut plains, vanilla lake, and mario circuit 2 were in the image, but there's only one snes slot available

    • @L1N3R1D3R
      @L1N3R1D3R  2 года назад +8

      1. It's more likely than you think, since Tour already did it. If not, they could maybe incorporate antigravity somehow. Regardless, I think that track is likely to come back, and I support that.

    Good Vid. Some thoughts:
    - Sucks they aren't remaking Wario Colosseum, but it might not have made a difference anyway since I would have wanted it remade with anti-gravity portions inside the sphere and clearly they aren't doing any true anti-gravity stuff (as in sections being anti-grav rather than just what they did with Sky High Sundae) for this DLC.
    - Every single wave has had at least one non-city tour track. Wave 1 was NInja Hideaway (it's listed as new in the track list rather than Tour), Wave 2 was Sky High Sundae, And Wave 3 is clearly going to be Merry Mountain. Wave 4's blank slot will likely be a non-city Tour track, and Wave 5's final course will probably be New (maybe the Bathroom course) as well rather than Dry Dry Ruins.
    - The fact that wave 6 has 3 "new" slots could be explained with them picking 2 RMX tracks from Tour (such as RMX Ghost Valley 1 or RMX Vanilla Lake 1 or a not yet released RMX track). That would also leave open the possibility that the SNES course isn't Vanilla Lake 1/2 if they are picking Vanilla Lake 1 as an RMX course.

    • @L1N3R1D3R
      @L1N3R1D3R  2 года назад +3

      I can see them including 3 new Tour courses, but that's pushing it. And I don't think they would cram the last wave full of RMX courses, as that would be a very anticlimactic end to the DLC.

Anyway, I kind of disagree with Dry Dry *Ruins* here, because we’ve had Dry Dry *Desert* for 5 years now, and I feel like it would be redundant to add another track with “Dry Dry” in the title. Uh, maybe Toad’s Factory could go there to get some respect?

      It would be strange if they waited until the start of next year, and not just because it would break their "pace". If they have a Nintendo Direct this month and it mentions Wave 3, I don't think they would make us wait four months for it. Plus, it's really easy to sell stuff during the holiday season.
      Sadly, the Tour leaks don't point to Toad's Factory, since conveyor belts are everywhere in Tour. Thankfully for me, I also love Dry Dry Ruins, so that's a compromise I'm not too sad about. And again, I don't think they mind "conflicts" between the base game and the DLC.

      Anyway, here are MY predictions for the mystery city courses: 1. Moscow Mix-up, which would be a track going around the busy streets and sick landmarks of Russia. We’d even go through the St. Basil’s Cathedral.
      2. Seattle Climb, which would just be 1 big lap, Mount Wario style. Lap 1 would take you through the city, so you get to see the Washington Skyline. Lap 2 would just be a highway, with classic details like item boxes, boosts, and maybe a glide over a lake. Lap 3 would be a trip up Mount Rainier, hence the name of the track. And like in Mount Wario, you’d stop when you reach the summit.
      3. Cairo Crunch, which would go through the urban and desert parts of Egypt. It’s like Bone Dry Dunes or Dry Dry Desert but for Tour. What do you think of these ideas?

    As much as interesting is Broken Pier. But recent findings found out that it's GBA Boo Lake for this October's Tour event (due to it called TL or something with Teressa in the file names).
    Said leak mentions GBA Lakeside Park, DS Delfino Plaza, and other tracks. For only 4 Wii courses (based on Banner Leak(not the game's ads in Coconut Mall or whatnot), it's DK Summit, Koopa Cape, and Maple Treeway. As for the 4th one, this is based on the Tour Leak and it's Dry Dry Ruins.
    As much as everyone expects Rainbow Road (due to personal bias to everyone) to be the last for Wave 6, it's either one of the 4 tracks I've mentioned.
    I don't personally think that the game's banners and advertisements in places like Coconut Mall are legitimate but rather just easter eggs and cameos.
    Everyone suspects that Vanilla Lake is coming in Wave 2 because of the Banner Leak but it's GBA Snow Land. I've also made a similar list on Discord and little traction on my Twitter. As for the missing prefixes, I don't think it's a placeholder but rather we're going to have new Tour tracks that aren't city based. Two were speculated to be a new Yoshi course (yi) and some aquatic course (yu).

    I would honestly swap Maka Wuhu for Bowser's Castle since we don't have Bowser's Castle remake in 8 Deluxe (Ik you predicted GBA Bowser Castle 3 but I'm talking about the Bowser's Castles that aren't flat if you know what I mean). Other than that great predictions! Also I actually did not know that there was a Yoshi's Island and a bathroom track leaked. Those sound fun honestly.
    For some changed for the game itself I'd say
    Add a new engine class either a reverse mode since Tour has reverse tracks or 200cc Mirror Mode. They could go the extra mile and add Mirror Mode for 50, 100 and 200cc but I doubt they would add Mirror Mode for every other cc. Just 200.
    Fix the item balancing. There's times where you can just get slapped in the face by like 9 red shells. I kid you not, I had a race one time where I had quite a big lead, I was 10 seconds away from the finish line and got hit by like 9 reds. I still won but I would have been pissed if I had lost since I frontran the race. There are other thing that need to be fixed for item balancing like the whole room getting stars, bullet bills, golden mushrooms, etc most of the time which makes it near impossible to gain any placements (this only happens most of the time when first has a big lead).
    Add 96 races on vs mode when every track is released. I don't why Mario Kart 8 Wii U didn't add 48 races when all its DLC released so I hope they do 96 for Deluxe.
    Add more characters like Birdo, Diddy Kong, Petey Piranha and Nabbit to name a few. The character roster is really stale and more original characters would make the game much better. Even add some alternate costumes for each character. Mario could get Fire Mario, Builder Mario, etc. They could even make Tanooki Mario an alt for him even tho he's a separate character from him but they could definitely work around that.
    Add more vehicle parts. Tour has a bunch of karts and gliders that the could port over and Wii has some bikes that they could port over. Bring back the Dolphin Dasher, Poltergust 400, Wild Wing, Daytripper, Flame Runner, Sugarscoot, Dry Bomber and stuff like that.

      I totally would have picked a different Bowser's Castle course for this DLC if it lined up with what we knew and my intuitions, but sadly it doesn't.
      Item balance is definitely a flaw with this game. I wouldn't give the most powerful items to anyone but the bottom positions, no matter how far ahead 1st place is.
      I don't know, I feel like vehicle parts are the least important part of a Mario Kart game. Courses are obviously the most important, and characters are important enough to consider.

    • @duragdee2760
      @duragdee2760 2 года назад

      The item you receive is based on your placement and distance from first place. The reason why this works is because it prevents frontrunners from being untouchable and giving racers in the middle of the pack a chance to catch up. It may be annoying to you, but that doesn't warrant the item distribution reverting back to how it was in previous titles. A better solution to 'perfecting' the item balance would be to not have fist place receive Bob-ombs in exchange for red shells, and adjust the lock on speed for red shells and spiny shells on 200cc.

    I think Wii Bowser's Castle is more likely for the end of Wave 5. Dry Dry ruins doesn't really feel like a "Finale" course like the others do. Wii Bowser's Castle would fill in the lack of Bowser's castles. The issue is that Wii Bowser's Castle uses a lot of half pipes in one section, and already feels similar to MK8's Bowser's Castle.

      I also like Wii Bowser's Castle, but you have to remember that that slot was originally a blank space. It could be a new Tour course, or it could be a course that wasn't finalized yet. This indicated to me that it was in the process of being made in Tour but wasn't done yet, which led me to the Tour leaks. The only games that had substantial courses were GBA (Yoshi Desert), GCN (Mushroom Bridge/City), Wii (Dry Dry Ruins), and 3DS (Wuhu Loop/Maka Wuhu). Since GBA and Wii are both overrepresented and both desert courses, I went purely by preference there. To avoid more than one course from a single game in the same cup, I ordered it in this way.

    Definitely the most in-depth and thoughtful predictions for the BCP that I’ve seen, but I have a disagreement. If 2 or 3 of the slots with no prefix are non-Tour retros, then I feel one of them should go to N64. You said 3 isn’t enough for 3DS, yet N64 only has 2 and they’re already released. You also gave an extra slot to Wii, which statistically has the most courses in this pass behind Tour, which I feel is pretty well represented already. Finally, I think it would make sense if every wave had a Tour nitro, as seems to be the case with the first three waves so far. Therefore, this would leave us with 2 extra slots in wave 6, which I think should go to N64 (banshee boardwalk?) and 3DS (bowser’s castle or maka wuhu)

      @L1N3R1D3R  2 года назад

      For 3DS, I said "3 isn't enough for how much it's represented in Tour". 3DS has 10 courses in Tour that aren't already in MK8, yet only 3 in the DLC. N64 has only 5 such courses (and 4 while I was recording the script, before they announced Luigi Raceway), so having only 2 in the DLC isn't quite as shocking.
      You're kinda right about my Mario Kart Wii bias, but according to my theory for the blank spaces, the only fitting replacement in terms of leaked courses in Tour would be GBA, which is also overrepresented. I think 3 new Tour courses is the absolute maximum we could get, but your reasoning makes sense.

    And as for the last DS Leaked track I STRONGLY dont see Airship Fortress to be one of them even thou its both popular and it was shown on Tour, but i dont see that being the case because i think the last DS track would be either:
    Desert Hills, Delfino Square or Yoshi Falls, because DS Peach Gardens was WKWii retro track that fit the 12 racers feature and one of my choices fits WAAAAY better than your pick.

    i agree with some of these choices and ill say which ones i disagree with
    -i don’t think we’ll be getting anymore circuit tracks, gcn luigi circuit also has the same music as yoshi circuit. although its not much of a problem as waluigi pinball and wario stadium have the same, i can’t imagine them doing it too much and for a track no one is really requesting. i would put dk mountain instead as its datamined for tour and i think it’d work well after singapore speedway due to the contrast
    -i dont think we’re getting vanilla lake, although its in coconut mall, other tracks are referenced in the game as well which arent in the game, i think in sunshine airport the lady says that we’re going to n64 luigi raceway (something similar to that). i’d say koopa beach as we’ve not gotten a proper beach track yet
    -i don’t think they’re adding another wii track we’ll already have 6 in the booster course pass. i would make the slot a ds slot as theres only 3 slots from that game and i’d put it to delfino square as i think its the most popular aside from what is already in mk8
    -if there were another gcn course (acorn cup), i’d say this is were dino dino jungle goes (which you already have) but this is the space where i’d put delfino (the slot where ddr is would be a non city tour track)
    -for the last gcn track, i’d say wario colosseum. i know im being a hypocrite by saying gcn luigi circuit can’t get in because of music but i think it’s such a fitting course for the last cup in mario kart 8 due to the size and difficulty
    -for the 3ds slot, i think i’d be 3ds bowser’s castle because it’s tradition to end the cup with a bc then rr, although no retros have done this before, i think it’d make sense

    • @L1N3R1D3R

      You didn't need Wario Colosseum to be a hypocrite for repeated music, you already did that with DK Mountain and Dino Dino Jungle, lol. I think the distinction between base game and DLC is significant.
      We might not be getting proper beach courses, but we certainly will be getting summer-themed courses. If anything were to replace Vanilla Lake, I think it would be Ghost Valley.
      As for the blank spaces, if we're going by Tour leaks, the only candidate is Mario Circuit, and you said you didn't want any more circuit courses. I think Luigi Circuit is one of the best circuit courses, and it would be the best place to put a filler course.

      i think ghost valley is way too similar to boo lake imo
      im not going entirely off tour leaks (wario colosseum lol) but dkm is datamined for the game. the reason why i can’t see a circuit track is because we already have a lot in the game and 2 in the bcp and usually they’re starter courses, wave 4 isn’t starter (unless if they make the argument that the cups are at the left of the screen so it means it’s starter)

      Before Wave 2's announcement, I was hopeful that we might get RMX courses instead of SNES (or GBA Bowser Castle) courses, but I don't see that happening anymore. I also don't think that they would make an RMX version of any 3D courses, since that would essentially be a brand new course. The fact that most of the blank spaces are bunched up at the end of the DLC leads me to believe that they're placeholders. However, by that logic, I figured there must be some reason why they would know the other prefixes and not those, which is what led me to Tour leaks.

    As much as I love Luigi Circuit from Double Dash, it seems highly unlikely since Yoshi Circuit is already in the game. Instead, for my predictions I put GCN Bowser's Castle in the Spiny Cup and Dino Dino Jungle in the Boomerang Cup. Also I had GBA Yoshi Desert instead of Bowser Castle 3 because of Tour datamines, and though unlikely, SNES Bowser Castle 3 instead of Vanilla Lake 2. Honestly, I'd be happy with either SNES course, those two are among the only interesting courses in that game that aren't already in MK8DX. Also, after how consistently incredible 2022 has been for Tour, I fully expect it to come out with three new cities and five more original tracks by the end of 2023. '20 and '21 only gave us two cities and one original each, while in '22 we got three brand-new cities before the end of June, then Sky-High Sundae in August. At this rate, we'll get all our new Tour tracks before we know it

      They already had DS Wario Stadium in the base game, and that didn't stop them from adding Waluigi Pinball, so I see no problem with adding GCN Luigi Circuit (unless you're just going by course theme). GCN Bowser's Castle would be cool, but it wouldn't make much sense as the second course in the Spiny Cup, with something else in between it and Wii Rainbow Road (which I assume you agree with).
      Alright, let's say that they keep their current pace, 3 city courses and 1 original Tour course in 8 months. In the next 16 months, that only gives them 2 more original Tour courses, as well as 6 more cities. I think this current pace is an anomaly, meant to drive in sales of the DLC and Tour microtransactions. Plus, if they were making this many new courses, I don't know why they would wait until the end of the DLC to release them all.
