Many of the men on both sides of my family have served in the military, in every branch except the Coast Guard, mostly the Army and Navy. Only once has a family member actually been in a war, in recent years at least. Still, I grew up on war documentaries and movies like this, and I was instilled with a great respect for those who have sacrificed limb and life. Most recently, a younger cousin served in the East China Sea, and I blessed the day he came home safe. For those who have served and are currently serving in the most dangerous parts of this world, you have my deepest respect and hope for your safe return to those you love. May God bless you and thank you for your service.
My father fought in the Philippine jungles in WWII. Received a Purple Heart. Took a very long time before he was able to talk about it. Passed away at 97 two years ago.
My cousin was in Vietnam. In recent years, as his health has started to fail, he has started to talk about his experiences with others, with the family, and I think he has been the better for it. Before, we didn't ask him to talk, even the younger ones, because we didn't want to bring up bad memories, and the little information he did offer was horrible enough, the still-haunted look in his eyes... He said that every night, you didn't know if you'd wake up in the morning, and then you did, only to find out that another of your friends didn't; he said that was the hardest part, the survivor's guilt, even after so many years. Only those who have experienced what he and others have can ever truly understand it, I think, especially the sacrifice that comes with being awarded such an honor. Your father has my deepest respect. May he rest in peace.
About 36 minutes in, the chant is so similar to "Chong Lee, Chong Lee" in Bloodsport, it has to be a deliberate tribute. Also, Scott is such a terrific action star and martial artist. He obvious trains and works so hard and stays in phenomenal shape. And he can actually act, if you watch some of his more dramatic films. It's a pity that he hasn't become a lot more famous and embraced by major productions.
thats what I heard too, lol Scott should have blown up and been in bigger movies, I know hes had small roles in the bigger ones, but he should have been the star.
β All Iβm saying is that, men can live together, without butchering one another β - The Grey Rider Josie Wales speaking to Comanche Chief Ten Bears ( Outlaw Josie Wales movie )
The martial arts movements are outstanding. The idea of the main lead wearing a glowing white t-shirt to pull hide and evade movements is out of character. But, thank you for the movie. Sooo many allied soldiers were killed while prisoners during WWII. It's amazing that ANY of them made it out.
Honor ππππ This movie knows nothing about honor. And the fact that you think so is why people have no real amd honest honor anymore. I watched 20 minutes of this movie and all it showed was horrible acting and that people should have real jobs like being doctors or carpenters or maybe even be a real soldier, rather than play a fake one with no real honor on a dumb ass movie. Movie was a waste of movie and that movie could have honored real people by donating it to real causes.
β@scotthazelton519he's so underrated and he's got it all,I don't understand,he's got the tall dark a d handsome looks, actual martial arts training and background,he seems really humble and manly.
Japanese zeros and spitfires were pitted against each other in the the battle of Darwin Australia in 1943 as well as the Burma campaign 43-45 no known recorded battles between them in the Philippians. The planes I saw in the movie were P-40βs
This was really good. I loved the Panel to screen logic. It felt like a live action comic book to me, which is a compliment, and made the crazier scenes much more enjoyable. Well done!
Oh my goodness Scott is never given his proper acknowledgement, first time watching this and damn if it wasn't given the props the movie deservesd.continue to shine with the movies.thank youβ€
My name's sake was captured in the Philippines, walked the Bataan trail, survived the Hell ships to Japan, and was a prisoner for over two years. When rescued he weighed 72 pounds. Once rehabilitated he was sent back to assist with helping rebuild Japan. He got drunk in a bar and tried to kill some Japanese and was sent back home.
A really good movie with a lot of different plot twists. I don't think the Navajo code talkers went into action until later in the war but that's a minor point that makes no difference or stops the enjoyment of this movie.
My Pepe was taken prisoner on Bataan and survived the march. He then went we held POW for almost 4 years. He was tortured everyday. Once he got home he let a very successful life. Idk if I was a pow and survive the march how normal id be at home.
I didnβt think Iβd need a Kleenex at the end π’ I really wanted the young Japanese officer to go with them in the glider. Great movie. Another one where you must keep your eyes on the movie the entire time. No time for scrolling on your phone.
They pulled no punches during the making of this movie, literally. Every punch, every gun, every death - it was all real. Wrap your head around that...
There were no British combat operations in the Philippines, thatβs true but there many British ,French,Dutch, and U.S.there trying to get to Australia via the Philippines escaping the lightning takeover of China ,Indochina during 1942 and were collected sent to the pow systems in the Philippines
They put Scott Adkins in a chubby suit for the last John Wick movie. I could barely recognize him until he started throwing hands and feet. He is knocking on 50 and still doing this stuff.
Well go usa makes some really really good movies in general. The over seas market for movies and TV generally have a better quality of movies than the states.
This was a very good movie. I enjoyed every minute of it.
The ending was the best ever.
Thank you for posting this amazing movie.
Scott Adkins is so underrated and thank you for putting the real name of the movie
Whoever is adding these movies needs a raise!!!
Bot comment
This has just become a Like-farming comment now
Bot
And whoever added u needs to be fired
Its the janitor
Scott Adkins just keeps getting better and better. By far my favorite.
Wow. What a epic movie. If this was the 90s. It would have been a Blockbuster Hit!ππ»
Scott Adkins has several good movies to his credit, this is his best to date.
Nah it undisputed
Watch avengement
he was so good as boyka
Scott Atkins should be the next James Bond !!
Scott Adkins is amazing, a real martial artist movie star. He's aways stayed true, and genuine.
He damn slow now.
My Father fought the Japanese in
The south pacific. Many old movies he made me watch every Sunday. This was the Epitome of all those films! BONZAI.

These were some of the best corn fed POW's I have ever seen π but other than that, great flick π
Hilarious π
And thenβ¦ where did they found such a tall Japanese soldiers or such a short caucasians, but, it an awesome movie. πππ
The wooden props are annoying as well
and how many pow have you seen?
If they ever made a movie about the life of Chuck Norris, he would be a perfect martial art actor for this role!
My father fought in the Philippine jungles in WWII. Received a Purple Heart.

BEST Scott Akins film ever. Mast watch. Scott deserves an Oscar.
Or, at the very least, a Felix π

β@jcevans16Absolutely agreed. But still, he is at least having a good career and has lots of fans.
β@davidtatro7457very true, very similar to Michael Jae White
β@jcevans16Absolutely! Another legend!
In Japan, honor is everything A typical Scott Atkinson movie..
Scott Adkins
π Japan honor? Like declining WW2 heinous crimes to Asian people?!
β All Iβm saying is that, men can live together, without butchering one another β - The Grey Rider Josie Wales speaking to Comanche Chief Ten Bears ( Outlaw Josie Wales movie )
This was one hell of a fine movie!!!!! Epic in in all ways, thank you so much!!!!
The martial arts movements are outstanding. The idea of the main lead wearing a glowing white t-shirt to pull hide and evade movements is out of character. But, thank you for the movie. Sooo many allied soldiers were killed while prisoners during WWII. It's amazing that ANY of them made it out.
The music is beautiful.
So happy he keeps making more movies like this and its awesome he can still move like that in his 40s. No excuses for me.
He's 48 at the time of filming this movie!!
Great flick! Honor isn't something many people understand nor possess...
Not today.
There wasn't alot of honor on the japs side in this movie though, they seemed obsessed with the possessed fist though
And the less people know about a subject the more hostile their words and opinions are, it shows great ignorance. The Herd.

The movie Says Tokyo 1950. Adkins was Born in 1976. How is it Possible that he is there in Tokyo?
Oh my goodness Scott is never given his proper acknowledgement, first time watching this and damn if it wasn't given the props the movie deservesd.continue to shine with the movies.thank youβ€

Damn good movie! a must watch action pack to start to finish i gave it 5 stars.πππ
Scott gave up alot of screen time to his fellow actors. Well done.

Excellent........as ALWAYS!
He's enemy was his adopted brother
I didnβt think Iβd need a Kleenex at the end π’ I really wanted the young Japanese officer to go with them in the glider. Great movie. Another one where you must keep your eyes on the movie the entire time. No time for scrolling on your phone.
i would have to say 1 of his best
They pulled no punches during the making of this movie, literally. Every punch, every gun, every death - it was all real. Wrap your head around that...
The part where everyone were getting k#lled I was traumatized
There were no British combat operations in the Philippines, thatβs true but there many British ,French,Dutch, and U.S.there trying to get to Australia via the Philippines escaping the lightning takeover of China ,Indochina during 1942 and were collected sent to the pow systems in the Philippines
Wow so thats how Gliders work in the old days of war.
Absolutly great movie!!!!!! TEN THUMBS UP!!!!
They put Scott Adkins in a chubby suit for the last John Wick movie. I could barely recognize him until he started throwing hands and feet. He is knocking on 50 and still doing this stuff.
About to be 50 this year. But is still able to kick ass. He's about to face Kane Kosugi in a rematch in the upcoming One Last Shot film
Great action, but a glider on tow still has to be flown!
Great movie. Well π€ except the unbelievable tag line towπ
